Return to the Real World
Becky's POV
"Trim that sail!" Uncle Hector orders.
"Trim that sail!" dad repeats the order.
"Slack windward brace and sheets!" my uncle orders and again dad repeats the order. "Haul that pallet line!" he orders and dad repeats it. Uncle Hector stops and turns to face dad. "What are you doing?" he demands.
"What are you doing?" Dad retorts.
"No, what are you doing?" Uncle Hector demands.
"What are you doing? Captain gives orders on the ship" dad tells him.
"The captain of this ship is giving orders" my uncle retorts.
"My ship, makes me captain" dad states.
"They be my charts!" my uncle tells him.
"That makes you...chart man" dad tells him.
"Stow it! The both of you! That's an order! Understand?!?" Pintel demands. They both give him a pointed look. "Sorry. I just thought with the captain issue being in doubt, I'd throw my name in for consideration, sorry" he says. Dad and Uncle Hector leave.
"Honestly and I'm suppose to be the child" I grumble.
"Perhaps you could talk to them both" Gibbs suggests.
"You know I don't like to get in the middle of their fights" I remind him.
"But you're the only who can do it without getting into trouble" he tells me.
"Fine, send them to the captains cabin" I tell him. Then go to the captains cabin to wait for them. They soon arrive bickering about who was captain. "Enough" I tell them and they look at me. "I'm sick of you both fighting all the time like little boys. You both are adults, act like it" I order. "Now until you can decide who is captain of the whole ship. I've thought of a compromise" I state.
"What be that?" Uncle Hector asks me.
"You will be the captain of the starboard side and dad you the captain of the port side" I tell them.
"But it's my ship" dad whines.
"I don't care, you both need to start acting your age and not have me settle your fights. I'm the child here and I'm the one having to be mature" I tell them annoyed.
"Fine" they both agree and dad sits behind the desk.
"I see you neglected to properly take care of me ship" Uncle Hector says looking at the giant whole behind dad.
"What, this? This is ventilating" dad tells us. "Clear out the stench of the previous occupant" he explains and I hold in a giggle. "Thinking about putting in French doors, actually. I like a bit of cross-breeze" he states. Just then Gibbs enters the room and we all look at him.
"Heading captain?" he asks.
"Two degrees starboard" dad orders.
"I'm captain of the starboard side" Uncle Hector reminds him. Then turns to Gibbs. "Two degrees starboard" he orders. "The captain will now take the helm" he states. He and dad race out of the room as Gibbs said 'aye captains'.
I go up with Gibbs to see dad and Uncle Hector fighting of the wheel. I groan and say "I give up". I go over to the railing and notice boats approaching us. "Boats off the starboard bow!" I shout. Everyone comes to look at them. As Cotton takes over the wheel. In each boat is one or two people, all looking dead ahead.
Gibbs begins loading a gun and Will stops him. "They're not going to hurt us, am I right?" Will asks Tia.
"We are nothing but ghosts to them" she tells us.
"Is best just let them be" Uncle Hector tells us.
"It's my father, we've made it back. Father here, look here!" Elizabeth shouts. I frown and turn to see Governor Swann in a boat alone. Dad tells Elizabeth we're not back. "Father!" she shouts again and Governor Swann turns to look at her.
"Elizabeth, are you dead?" he asks and she shakes her head. "I think I am" he tells her.
"No, you can't be!" she shouts.
"There was this chest, you see. And a heart. At the time it seemed so important" he starts to explain.
"Come aboard" she tells him as she walks along the ship following his boat.
"I learned that if you stab the heart, yours must take its place. Sail the seas for eternity. The Dutchman must always have a captain. Silly thing to die for" he states.
"Someone cast a line!" Elizabeth orders. Marty gives her a line and she tosses it to her father. It draped over the front of his boat. "Take the line" she tells him and he doesn't.
"Elizabeth, I'm so proud of you" he tells her.
"Father, the line, take the line!" Elizabeth shouts as she runs after her father to the stern of the ship.
"She must not leave the ship!" Tia Dalma shouts.
"Father, come back with us! I won't leave you!" Elizabeth screams. Will grabs her before she can jump off of the ship.
"I'll give your love to your mother, shall I?" the governor says before his boat disappears.
"Is there a way?" I ask Tia sadly.
"No, him at peace" she tells me. I go over to Elizabeth and hug her tightly. She sobs into my shoulder hugging me back. I understand what she's going through, I lost my dad. But I got him back, she never will.
(Next day)
Cotton is manning the wheel as dad looks over the navigational charts. While Uncle Hector played with Jack. I sit on the railing looking out at the endless ocean. Suddenly dad shouts "up!" and runs over to me. "What's that?" he asks and I hop down. I look out at the sea and see nothing as others join us.
"What's happening?" Elizabeth asks. I smile at her. Dad runs to the other side of the ship and we follow him. Soon the whole crew is running from one side to the other and uncle Hector ordered the cargo to be untied. Pintel and Ragetti tied themselves to the mast upside down. I have no idea how they managed it, but they did.
We grab a hold of the railing tightly as the Pearl slowly turns upside down in the water. Dad had one arm around my shoulders to help hold me in place. "Take a deep breath" he tells me and I do so. "Now up is down" he states.
We all go under the water. Will lost his grip, but grabbed a hold of a rope to stop himself from sinking. As the sun sets, a green flash is seen and the boat pops back into our world. I cough as dad rubbed my back soothingly.
