"Help! Someone help! Let me go!" Katara yelled in a room she was chained to the wall as two dai lee agents stood at the door.

"Are you working for long feng still? Do you know that the kyoshi warriors are imposters!? It's princess Azula of the fire nation! They're all fire nation!" Katara yelled at them as she struggled against her restraints.

"Let me go! Where's the earth king?!" She screamed.

"I can assure you yelling won't do you any good," Azula smiled walking into the room with ty Lee and mai behind her.

"And the dai lee know who I am, earth benders with fire bender killer instincts, what more could a princess want?" She grinned deviously with her hands behind her back.

"Aangs not here, you won't get him," Katara snarled.

"I still will have two prisoners that'll do me good, and your the avatars girl, he'll come for you," Azula told her confidently.

Katara stayed quiet as she looked at Azula, was she lying? She said that Zuko and her were siblings..? How is that possible? That makes no sense, how would he be a soldier much less have a wanted poster for dead or alive.

"Your thinking about Zuzu, how sweet, I'm guessing he never mentioned his own family? Who he was before he was a soldier?" Azula could read her like a book.

"It's not your fault, he doesn't tell a lot of people it seems, not even his fellow soldiers knew, I heard he was quite the liar there," she laughed mockingly.

"Old habits die hard I guess," she hummed but Katara gulped keeping quiet.

"I'm happy to air out zukos dirty laundry if you have any questions, he'll probably lie if you ask anyways," Azula chuckled shaking her head.

"Zuko is your brother... like fully?" Katara asked slowly, she couldn't believe what she was asking.

"Same mom and dad, he's my big brother, first born," Azula smirked.

"I-I... that doesn't make any sense, he doesn't have any family, he-" Katara choked on her words.

"Tragic I know, but soon enough I can bring my big brother home, unfortunate he'll be behind bars but home either way, I won't make any mistakes again like last time," Azula sighed sarcastically but could see the betrayal and confusion still on Kataras face.

"Send her to the catacombs, be on the look out for the avatar," she waved them off.

"I'm sure the peasant has a lot to think about,"

-

Katara was thrown into the crystal catacombs and trapped under ground. She grunted falling on her back and watched the entrance be blocked by the earth benders.

"Shit," she hissed standing back up rubbing her arms.

"Shit!" Katara yelled kicking a crystal that was in the wall.

She was captured. Zuko was going to be captured. There's no way of escaping the dai lee much less Azula.

She was his sister.. did that mean Zuko was the first born prince of the fire nation? It had too. But last she heard the fire nations prince was safe in the palace living a comfortable life. But that was a lie then.

She paced around the cave stressfully, since she's met Zuko he's been an angry stubborn soldier, he was a soldier for zhao, zhao tried to kill him. After that she's known Zuko as a refugee, wanted by the fire nation. How is he the prince of the fire nation? Who knows? How was he allowed to be a soldier? Was he ever going to tell her?

He's been lying. The professor in the desert even mentioned something. The commander that was so protective of Zuko. His uncle having connections. He's been apart of the royal family the whole time.

Suddenly the covers opened again.

"You have company," the dai lee shoved Zuko down the entrance and closed it again as Zuko landed on the ground hard.

"Zuko?" Katara looked down at him concerned for a moment.

"Katara? Why are you here?" Zuko looked up at her as he laid on his back.

"Azula, she got in and took over the dai lee," Katara helped him up.

"Azula? She's here?" He asked in disbelief.

"Yes, she and those two other girls got in by pretending to be kyoshi warriors," she explained shaking her head.

"I can't believe they got us, they want Aang," Katara covered her face with a whine.

"He's far by now, and he's not alone, he'll be okay," Zuko told her looking around for a way to escape.

"Zuko can I ask you something?" Katara watched him with her hands on her cheeks.

"Go for it," he looked around for other tunnels.

"Where are You from? What happened to your family?" She gulped a little.

"Im from the fire nation colony's?" He looked at her confused.

"And your family?" Katara bit her lip.

"Does it matter? We have more important things to deal with princess," Zuko tsked rolling his eyes.

"Are you the prince of the fire nation?" Katara asked straight out.

He froze.

"What kind of a question is that?" Zuko glared back at her.

"A-Azula.. she said your her brother," Katara whispered suddenly regretting asking. There was something dark and cold in his eyes, there was hate at the mention.

"You trust Azula?" He scoffed.

"I don't trust her but why would she lie about something like that?" She narrowed her eyes.

"Don't listen to her, your smarter than that," Zuko shook his head.

"tell me the truth then, who the hell are You?" Katara asked more stern this time.

Zuko looked at her and scoffed, he didn't have time for this. If they stayed he was going to prison or an execution. He was escaping. He saw a tunnel going into the underground caves but it was dark.

"So it's true then," she whispered.

Zuko said nothing.

"Who knows? Did your commander know? Does hai know? Did Lee know?" Katara asked trying to get any answer from him. She needed to understand.

"You shut your damn mouth! You don't get to accuse me of that kind of stuff, so shut up," Zuko finally snapped.

Katara glared crossing her arms as they stood across the cave from each other. She didn't know what he would tell her. He didn't know what to say.

"Don't tell the others," Zuko begged.

"Don't tell the others? Zuko your next in line for the throne, your family-your family is the reason for this war, your royalty," Katara inhaled deeply, her heart beat so fast she thought she was going to be sick even.

"No I'm not," he rolled his eyes.

"Yes you are!"

"You think I was a soldier for shits and giggles? You think they'd let a prince be on the battle field? No, cause I'm not a prince, get it yet?" Zuko spat harshly. "I was scarred so no one would know who I was,"

That's when it hit her. He was disowned. His scar was his reminder.

"It doesn't matter, I can't remember a lot of my life before joining the war," he finally sighed, his voice cracked a little, giving up the argument.

They were quiet again, there was a new light on their friendship, Katara didn't have to tell her friends or her brother. It was clear Zuko wasn't proud of his past, he's suffered, she wasn't suppose to know either yet here they were. Pain of the past forced in their faces, the truth of his past.

"What if I could help?" Katara offered quietly.

"Help what?" Zuko knitted his brows together confused.

"Your scar doesn't define who you are or who you were, but I have healing my abilities, I can help," she told him with her eyes down.

"My scar? It can't be healed," he touched his scar turning his head away.

"I have special spirit water from the northern tribes oasis, I've been waiting to use it on something important," Katara reached and held up the vile of the spirit water.

"I don't know if it'll work but it has magical properties that could work... it'll be worth trying?" She pursed her lips.

Zuko didn't believe it would work, it was to good to be true. But the thought of having his face again, he didn't have to have people staring and pointing, mothers didn't have to hush their children to not say anything, he didn't have to avoid looking at his own face without shame and embarrassment.

"You think it'll work?" He asked.

"I don't know honestly, but we won't know unless we try," she nodded coming towards him.

Zuko felt her hand touch his face, her fingers touched his scar to turn him towards her. They were close, he looked down at Katara as she kept her hand on her cheek, her thumb brushed his scar to feel, but she wasn't afraid, she wasn't nervous to touch the damaged skin.

Zuko closed his eyes, he trusted her.

Till they were interrupted by a booming crash through the wall close by, catching the two by surprise. Once the dust cleared they saw two familiar faces.

"Katara!" Aang ran to them. Katara hugged him but her eyes were glued to the other person that joined the avatar in their rescue.

"Jet?" Katara saw the other teen holding a torch. She thought he was dead.

"Thought you saw the last of me?" Jet grinned as Aang hugged her.

Jets face dropped when Aang went to Zuko to see if he was okay as well.

"Zuko how did they get you?" Aang asked quickly.

"I'll tell you later but we need to get out of here," Zuko told him but he and Jet look at each other.

"You," Jet pointed.

"Not again," Zuko groaned.

"You know each other?" Katara asked.

"We were on the ferry to get to the city," Zuko told them.

"You got me arrested, fire bender," Jet snarled, but he noticed Katara moving protectively in front of the older teen.

"He knows?" Katara asked.

"Yea I figured out lee was a fire bender but that doesn't seem to be his real name," Jet barked harshly.

"Secret identity?" Zuko raised a brow.

"Duh?" Aang agreed like it was obvious.

"You two can't be starting a fight down here, let's get out of the catacombs and out of the city, we'll explain later," Katara grabbed Aang and zukos wrists before dragging all three boys out.

"Well well well, I knew you'd come back," Azula stood at the tunnel that lead further into the dark catacomb.

"I'm getting a prisoner either way, let's just see who's coming with me," she smiled cruelly.
