Red

The teens and hostages flew back in the sky as the moon suddenly turned red, with the moons light it turned everything in sight red as well. Yue held her head at the sharp pain as well as aang. The spirits...

"Are you okay?" Sokka looked at the Princess concerned.

"I feel faint," Yue tried rubbing her temples to ease the pain.

"I feel it too," Aang gulped a little from the front.

"The moon spirit is in trouble," he looked at the moon wide eyes.

"I owe the moon spirit my life," Yue sighed softly keeping her eyes down.

"What do you mean?" Sokka asked confused.

"When I was born I was very quiet and very sick, most baby's cry when they're born, but I was born as if I were asleep, my eyes closed... our healers did everything they could, they told my parents I was going to die, my father pleaded with the spirits to save me" Yue explained to them as she glanced back at the soldiers cautiously.

"That night beneath the full moon, my father pleaded to the moon spirit, they brought me to the oasis and placed me in the pond, my hair turned white and I started to cry when I opened my eyes, thats why my mother named me Yue, for the moon," she turned back to the teens calmly as her knees where pulled to her chest.

Zuko groaned a little as he turned to lay on his back feeling his headache getting worst, he opened his eyes only to see red across the sky, what..

There was suddenly a knife to his throat and he looked up seeing the water bender glaring down at him.

"Is that my knife?" He asked frowning at her and saw the white hair girl as well as a teen boy.

"Where's the other men I was with?" Zuko asked, not moving as the girl didn't look as confident as she tried to seem holding a knife.

"You're lucky Aang wanted to take you, otherwise you'd be frozen to death by now," Katara hissed as Zuko sat up but noticed his hands where tied. He dropped a piece of metal from under his sleeve and started to saw a little at the rope.

"Your lucky I didn't kill the avatar when I took him," Zuko narrowed his eyes at them and glanced over at his men. He could tell Marco was awake by how he was tense and his back was to them.

"So you work for zhao I'm guessing?" Sokka scooted so he was in front of Yue.

"Did the fire nation armada not give it away?" He asked flatly.

"Your just a child?" Yue looked over sokkas shoulder.

"Why would zhao send a child to capture the avatar?" She asked.

Zuko glared at her darkly, what does the white hair freak know? He was a soldier and could do a simple task. But he questioned zhao a lot, but for this... Zuko thought for a minute and his eyes widen.

He didn't expect Zuko to come back alive. It was a suicide mission.

"Zhaos going to kill the moon spirit," Zuko told them realizing zhaos plan. If the water benders couldn't bend then he'd be able to get the avatar either way, he just wanted Zuko killed by the tribe.

That bastard knew exactly what was going to happen.

Zhao held a bag high to the moon as a fish flopped around inside, the moon spirit mortal form. His smile was cruel looking at the red sky, his legacy being made before his very eyes.

"They'll tell stories about the great zhao who darkened the moon," zhao held the fish with pride.

"They will call me zhao the conqueror.. zhao the moon slayer! Zhao the invincible!" Zhao roared but was suddenly attacked by a lemur that tried attacking his face but flew off before he or any of the soldiers could grab it.

Momo flew back to the bison that landed in the oasis, Aang stood there with his lemur on his shoulder as marco, cho, and Zuko were lined up next to them with their wrists bound back. Zhao looked at Zuko with a glare as the teenager looked just as pissed.

Sokka and Aang raised their weapons as Katara flipped open the animal skin bag on her hip ready to strike.

"Don't bother," zhao raised his fist at the bag with the fish.

"Zhao don't!" Aang dropped his staff.

He smirked lowering the bag.

"You have my men?" He raised a brow at the men as cho looked at the two younger men but Zuko had a scowl while marco was worried.

"Just let the spirit go, you can have them back then," Aang put his hands up to show he wouldn't attack.

"It's my destiny to destroy the moon, and the water tribe," zhao growled.

"Kill them for all I care," he looked at the fire benders again. "I'll slit their throats myself,"

"Destroying the moon won't hurt just the water tribe, it will hurt everyone, including you," Aang gulped a little.

"Without the moon everything will fall out of balance, you have no idea what kind of chaos that would unleash in the world," he tried to explain calmly to the stubborn man.

"He is right zhao," everyone froze seeing the old man that approached them.

"General iroh, why am I not surprised to discover your treachery?" Zhao sighed irritated as iroh pulled his hood down.

"I am no traitor zhao, the fire nation needs the moon too, we all depend on the balance," iroh looked at him sternly like he was scolding a child.

"What ever you do to that spirit I'll unleash on you tenfold!" Iroh put his hands up for battle.

"It it go! Now!"

Zhao hesitated for a moment as he looked at the fish in the bag and back at the men that were captured, back at iroh in debate. Finally he let the fish go, Sokka quickly sliced the rope from each fire bender and they ran to the other side of the pond.

Zhao started to shake in rage as he watched the fish go back into its balanced circle with the other one. He grabbed his dagger from his side and went to attack Zuko to create a distraction for iroh.

Only for cho to push the runt out of the way and felt the dagger go through his heart.

Zhao didn't even look before he sent a powerful flame down on the white fish.

The world went dark. The moon was gone.

"Cho!" Zuko caught his brother as marco was to in shock.

Iroh immediately unleashed his bending as he blasted powerful flames at the admiral as Zuko set cho on the ground as he ripped his sleeve to try putting pressure on the wound.

"Cho stay with us, your going to be fine," Zuko growled as he took out the dagger. Marco ripped some of his own sleeve off to try helping, he watched tears run down chos face.

"Zuko he's not-" "shut the fuck up marco!" Zuko snarled but it was to late.

Iroh took down all the soldiers single handed as he didn't hesitate to take them out. But with that zhao escaped.

His breathing stopped as Zuko stared down at his comrade. There was no life in the mans eyes.

"Hey, runt," marco grabbed his shoulder as Zuko was in to much shock to even look up.

"Look at me," he shook him a little.

"There's no hope now," Yue said softly with tears in her eyes. Zuko finally looked up seeing his uncle holding the dead fish.

His jaw trembled with wide eyes, the water bender stared back at him horrified at the dead man that laid beside him. Guilt and pity mixed as she could see how devastate he was.

"It's over," she whispered covering her mouth.

Suddenly aangs tattoos started to glow as he stood next to them all.

"No, it's not over,"

Aang walked into the pond as he stood where the koi fish once swam in its circle. He put his hands together in concentration as the water glowed white; only for a moment to pass and he dropped down vertically, disappearing in the water.

Suddenly the water around them glowed a vibrant blue in the grey world. But it flowed down the River of the oasis and grew into a spirit giant of its own, bigger than any of the temples in the water tribe and went straight for the navy.

"We have to go," Zuko grabbed marco as he went to run but iroh stopped him.

"Zuko your friend-" "he's dead, and zhao is going to pay," Zuko snarled harshly as he shoved past him and marco followed quickly.

Marco spared one more look back at chos body and saw blue water scoop him up from the grass and carried him into the water. His body now gone.

Tears ran down Marcos face as they ran.
