My mind won't stop. My heart and my mind are in agreement for the first time in years. They wanted one thing. And they were going to get it.

"I'm so sorry about, Saturday, Kai. Are you mad at me?" Ellis asked through the phone. I wasn't listening, nor did I want to. "Kai?" My eyes widened when I saw her walking through the sidewalk. I slammed the breaks and did a quick u-turn. "Yes, you're forgiven. I'll call you tonight." I ended the call before she can say another word.

I put the phone in the cup holder and parked the car. I took the keys out and opened my door. I jogged over to her, grabbing her arm making her yelp. When I turned her to face me she only opens one eye, making me hold in a smile.

"Kai?" She asked and my heart swelled, making me realize I still have one. "Baby girl." She had red eyes and a runny nose. "What's wrong?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows. She shook her head and gentle took her arm back as she rubbed her face. "Nothing, I just felt bad for not having any money to give to this man who was selling flowers." I raised an eyebrow.

She blushed as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I've made a promise to myself. That every person I see selling flowers I'll buy them. Because usually nobody does and I just feel so bad. And they work so hard! And-and also because i made Ellis mad at me." I clenched my jaw.

"Was she supposed to pick you up." Baby looks up at me and slowly nods her head. "Yes, but what I did was mean. I shouldn't have asked you that. It was very rude of me." I shook my head and cupped her cheek. Staring into her eyes. "No. Don't say that. Come on, let me give you a ride." She squealed and shook her head. "I can't do that!" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"And why not." I wasn't used to being told no. "Because! When my sisters don't want to pick me up I walk this way and there's this kitty that I feed milk to." She pulls out a milk carton out from her backpacks carton. I chuckle making her eyes widen and mine to. Even Ellis has never heard me laugh.

"Fine then, let's get this over with." Baby girl smiles and nods her head, showing me the way.
