Chapter 3 : The Sorting Hat

"There's nothing called a platform 9¾ Harry I told you! Don't you dare go around asking someone else, they'll label you a lunatic and pretty much me too" Jade angrily bursts out causing Harry to sigh, something catches his attention, he grabs Jade by her hand and quickly walks towards them.

A red-headed woman was instructing few other students with the same equipment as theirs, she calls out for a boy called Percy and he quickly runs into the wall between platform 9 and 10 and disappears.

Harry stares with disbelief and Jade's mouth flings wide open completely shocked.

"Umh hello, could you please..." Harry softly asks the woman for her help.

"Are you two new here?" She questions smiling at Jade and both nod returning the smile. "Well it's Ron's first year too" she says. Harry and Ron exchange brief nods before the woman continues to speak " see the wall over here? You walk straight into that, if you're not okay with that I prefer you run it helps" she tells them.

Harry runs quickly and transports into a new universe, behind him follows Jade both exchange glances and look at the huge red train with bold printed letters "Hogwarts Express" .

"Wow-- this is even better than I imagined" she tells her new friend as they step into the carriage, she accidentally steps over a black haired girls shoes and the girl angrily yells at her.

" Watch it you filth" she pushes Jade away and continues to walk away.

"Okay I take it back" Jade throws her hand up in defeat making Harry giggle. They find an empty carriage and settle in sitting opposite to each other.

"So when we were in that place-- the cauldron...how did people recognise you? Your parents are wizards too? Are they professors?" She asks overjoyed.

"I don't know but this is what Hagrid told me-- a man called Voldemort killed my parents and I have only known to survive and therefore I have this scar" he says lifting his hair up revealing the scar. "And I'm famous for that sole reason that I survived something no one else had, my parents are dead Jade" he tells her the last part with his head hung down.

"I'm sorry Harry-- I didn't mean to " she places her palm on her thigh and flashes him a huge smile.

"Uh can I sit here? Everywhere else seems to be occupied" the boy they had earlier met questions and Harry nods.

"I'm Ron Weasley" he tells Jade eyeing her carefully "You have creepy eyes" he bluntly remarks.

"Thanks! That'll be a compliment" she snickers "My name's Jade, I don't have a last name I don't know who my parents are" she morosely tells him making Ron raise his eyebrows.

"I'm Harry. Harry Potter" Harry replied to Ron's question.

"You're Harry Potter?" Ron exclaims causing Jade to roll her eyes "do you umh have the..." He stops "scar" he softly whispers. Harry giggles and lifts his hair up yet again showing his scar to the intrigued boy.

"Wicked!" He exclaims, and just as the conversation had started a woman with a trolley full of goodys walks upto their compartment and asks if they were interested in buying any of it. Harry buys the whole cart astonishing Ron and Jade.

"Have you seen a toad?" A girl with her Hogwarts uniform on question "A boy named Neville seems to have lost it" she says.

Jade looks around and shakes her head in response and the girl smiles.

"I see you're practicing some spells, let me see" she ushers Ron to show her, Ron being Ron tries to work with his spell and goes all wrong.

"I doubt if that is an actual spell" she says and utters few word on her own repairing Harry's glasses.

"You're Harry Potter!" she says placing herself next to Jade. "I'm Hermione Granger and you are?" She questions disgusted, she stands up and informs the trio that they were almost to reach Hogwarts and they were to get dressed, she quickly walks back.

"What's your name?" Hermione asks Jade.

"Jade" she softly whimpers.

"You have cool eyes" the two immediately connect, they knew they were going to be best of friends.

The view of Hogwarts comes in sight not later, a huge school with a breath taking view. All students come in contact with a big flight of stairs where on top stood a woman, thin and slender with small rimmed glasses on.

"I'm professor McGonagall, before you leave to your room, we'll sort you out into your houses, when you're here your houses are like your family; the houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin." She tells the huge lot of student.

A blonde haired boy pushes past Jade to stand infront Harry.

"Watch where you're going thickhead" she angirly mutters.

"What did you call me?" He comes close to her face "and who might you be?" He questions.

"Jade" she proudly answers

"Muggle born?" He giggles causing two there next to him to burst into a fit of laughter, embarrassed Jade's mind goes blank, her mind was completely black now and nothing anyone said she could understand. She stood there with her eyes tightly shut and fists clenched, when she was re-awoken by Professor McGonagall.

The sorting hat is brought into view and Jade watches with a smile as her classmates get sorted in, Hermione into Gryffindor,  and it was Draco Malfoy's turn.

"What was his name?" She whispers into Harry's ears.

"Draco Malfoy" Harry says and the sorting hat loudly announces "SLYTHERIN" Draco walks down to the Slytherin table with a proud smirk on his face. Harry proceeds to the sorting hat and end up sorted into Gryffindor.

"Jade" professor McGonagall calls out and everyone begun gasping like they did for Harry's name "she's a Muggle with no last name?" Someone tells, Jade's heart aches but she decides to shrug it off.

"Oh, I have felt this before" the hat announces "cunning, witty" the hat pauses "hmm let's see where to put you, strong, ambitious..."

Jade crosses her fingers with the hope that she'll be put into Gryffindor with her friends Harry, Ron and Hermione.

"SLYTHERIN" the hat announces causing Jade's heart to drop a little, accompanied by ushers about how only a few Muggle Born's are sorted into Slytherin.
