The first time it happens, Mono's frightened.
After helping the girl he'd come to knocked as Six, he'd gone to get a key whilst she wheeled the carcass bag up. Jumping, the boy managed to grab it.
Yes!
Dropping down, Mono fails to notice to calculating gaze watching his every move. He's not totally dumb, he feels watched.
The Hunter spots the duo later. Grabbing Six's hand, Mono runs away to get them both safe.
Six's calculating gaze never wavers.
He figures she's just wondering to trust or not. When they reach the shed, Mono pulls the gun. Six helps in humour, The Hunter meeting his demise.
BANG!
The shot rang out, the door exploding into little pieces. Mono stands, his ears ringing in agony.
Turning his back, Mono is pinned.
A feral growl echoed, Mono not daring to even move an inch. Six's hand pin his wrists above his head.
Her eyes make the message perfectly clear.
Don't turn your back on me.
***
The second time, it's the bully that pays.
The teacher causes Six to be kidnapped, Mono sneaks into the classrooms, even the dining as one of the...things. Folks? Bullies? Dolls?
That sends a shiver down Mono's spine.
Anyway, the bullies kidnapped Six. Taken her away from Mono, stolen a precious possession needing protecting. Six claims to protect herself.
To tell the truth, Mono allows the thoughts.
He just gets the girl out of trouble.
Smashing the rest of the dolls with the hammer, he sneaks into the room with other two. One dolls spots Mono, rushing to try and kill the boy.
Too bad rage fills his body.
SMASH!
A successful two hits happen. Two bullies land on the floor, Mono immediately smashes the board holding his Six in the the air.
She tumbles down, glancing in confusion. Something is amiss until she spots the boy she'd admit to the her rescuer. At the beginning.
As if in contemplation, Six allows to be helped.
Mono smiles in the paper bag, thinking she finally trusted him a little. He doesn't hear a growl.
She pins him down again. He sulks mentally.
I rescued you.
Her eyes reply:
I don't trust easily.
Though, she never lets go if his hand. In a possessive manner, Six pulls Mono close as they head away.
He counts that as a win.
***
The third is after he managed to escape.
The hospital is a place of misery. Patients tuned to these mannequin creatures. Tumbling, fumbling, mumbling, stumbling.
Mono has a hard time avoiding them.
Setting his flashlight down, he glares hard at the arms reach through the door. He flips a middle finger. He doesn't regret it.
The flashlight slips nearly inside Mono's pocket. Six waits expectantly outside gate. After Mono dumps the battery in the trash shoot, she plugs it in the wall.
VRRRRRM.
The gate opens to a adrenaline filled Mono stepping out. He can't stop smiling. Six steps next to the boy protectively, possessively.
She kisses his cheek shyly.
It's in the elevator so no one sees. Mono blushes intensely, silently rubbing Six's hand soothingly.
She smiles underneath the yellow raincoat.
Hidden, she swiftly pins Mono to the wall. Although, the message is so different than the last.
I trust you a little bit.
Mono will take that anytime of the day.
***
In the streets, Mono pulls Six out the wood pile.
The mini adventure causes a drift-way.
Six seems to be hurt, actually needing a hand for a change. She offers to be helped.
Mono spends not time doodling, pulling the girl out the pile. Concerns shines in his eyes.
Six squeezes his hand in reassurance.
They head on, Mono unconsciously overshadows Six to keep within safe space. She has a troubling habit of ending up needing help.
Mono's there to help on the way.
As they enter the room, the TV activates once more. It buzzes, pulling Mono nearer and nearer. He momentarily forgets his end goal.
BANG!
Six pins him down once again. This time to keep him safe. An attempt to near him away from the Tv.
Don't leave me.
It didn't work, Mono unwillingly freeing the entity inside. It slithers out the TV.
THE THIN MAN.
Six runs away, glaring at Mono. He flinches in response at the distrustful gaze. He dove under the bed, seeing the taller man float inside.
Six chose the wrong place to hide.
She's grabbed, taken away, kidnapped again. Mono's enraged. He's going to rescue Six.
Thin Man will pay.
***
Mono arrives in the Thin Man's home.
The Signal tower welcomes him like a lost child.
Mono's not lost. He's just broken.
Also, he's trying to find his friend.
Going into a room, Mono freezes in place. Six is here, only, she's not normal.
She's corrupted.
The Signal Tower warped Six to its will. It took the only thing she considered comfort into a prison.
Mono's heart aches.
"Hey?"
Six peers up, tilting her head. She crawls over, legs unable to support the massive weight of the giant monster. It-...Six ignores the boy.
The music is apparently more captivating.
Mono growls, slammer the hammer down.
BANG!
It reflects, the monster roaring as the building starts to collapse. Mono runs for his life. He can tell and feel two emotions.
Anger and fear.
Six chases him down until they battle one on one.
Eventually, Mono wins, Six changing down size.
Six stares in the way of the original predator.
Mono's angered the beast inside. She gets ready to snarl, pounce. In her eyes, he's a traitor.
Until the Tower starts to collapse.
Six bursts ahead, it gives the girl time to think whilst Mono follows along behind, making sure he is Six's shadow protector.
He is there to help of course.
They reach the edge, Six managing a jump. Mono limps a little. Without her help, he won't make it.
Six's heart aches.
She reaches his hand, holding the boy. There is genuine sadness. The beast inside takes its time to decide, and it judges based on the past and present.
You're allowed to stay.
Mono stands with holding Six's hand.
She pins him down once again. Not in a wild stance.
In a hug. They're both fine now.
Mono's arms stay around Six. She needs this hug, needs reassurance. They both do. A while later, they're leaning against the edge in an embrace.
They're safe.
