The two's trust isn't present.

Eleven arrived in the boat, eyes present on the present on the prize. Getting out of here.

He met someone else on the way.

"You coming?"

Grace is dominant, seemingly knowing where to go. The raincoat, the red raincoat reminds Eleven of something lost long again.

"She died. The yellow raincoat. Came here, came along. Came to the lady, got turned into a bone."

Eleven pauses, waiting a second.

"...I think."

Eleven snorts, squeezing a hand.

Grace looks with a smile.

Eleven wears a one buttoned olive-colored trench coat that reaches below his knees above a light black shirt tucked into his long brownish-gray pants rolled up at the end. As usual, he doesn't wear shoes.

His hair is black is short and fall over his eyes, covering upto the nose. The eyes obscured from views. Probably for the best.

Grace wore a red kind of raincoat similar to six that reached to her knees. Hair as blue the sky during the day, but eyes covered up like most kids.

Her skin matched his tone and she held a lighter which seemed to be ignited. It at least gave some light to this never ending darkness.

The hair is platted and reached to the back.

They both walk across the maw.

It's signals try to stop them both.

***

"I didn't need help that hour."

Eleven looks back with a smirk. The girl walks behind, looking around cautiously. The shadow to Eleven's light. Always there.

"I saved you from the janitor."

"Only because you made me captured."

Grace has a point there. Humming, Eleven tugged the girl close. They travel across the maw.

"...It's freezing. How do stand this?"

It's Grace's turn to snort. Albeit amused.

"I have short and a coat. It's about survival. It's how you learn to withstand such crap."

"Hmm, I guess."

Grace is just dragged along behind the boy.

"Your a man of few words."

"Hmmm."

"Annoying."

"Say that again and I will keep humming until we are dead."

Grace shuts up. She knows his threats are real.

Where are we?

At this point, the maw is like a lost maze. Something to wonder; but easily get lost in. A place made of exploration. To find the missing pieces.

A thing moves in the dark.

"What is that?"

"A shadow kid. The lady's watching us."

From experience (mainly rumours), Grace knows about the monster ruling over the different world I the maw. Sewing, ruling, creating.

Eleven is only slightly aware.

She's a bit protective because of that reason.

"So, we've escaped the janitor."

"I thought his name was Rodger?"

Eleven gives a deadpan look. Grace raises hands in a mock surrender. He only rolls his eyes.

"Now we face the...chefs?"

Grace nods. Eleven is glad they met.

Grace's the brain. He's kinda the brawn.

No, that doesn't mean he's dumb.

BANG!

"...He is still alive."

***

Arms reach underneath the door, trying to take their prey. Grace lets out a curse, Eleven gives the a boost them climbs on top of a dust bun.

"Take the left, I'll take right."

Eleven nods, following Grace's orders. It's the best course. God, he wants the janitor gone.

"One...two.."

Grace crouches and sneaks over the door, narrowly avoiding a diving hand. She hisses in pain.

"GET THE DAMN HANDLE!"

Eleven shouted, Grace obeyed. They both pulled.

BAM!

The door fell, the janitor giving a hard time. His arms coming off, chopped. Rodger yell in pain.

Eleven takes no concern, instead leaving over Grace. The girl flinched when he helped her up. She held a hand.

"One word about teasing and I'll kick your nuts again."

Yes, again. The two's first meeting went unfortunately bad. Grace took a hard kick.

Eleven shuddered to think of that pain again.

"Where's it hurt?"

Grace pointed to her stomach, a huge cut leaning blood. God, she could die. Maybe that'd be good.

At least she wouldn't be here anymore.

"Get me to anything, I'll treat it."

Eleven took a bit of bandage out, wrapping it around the girl's waist. Grace blushed when he did.

Not really used to help.

Silently of course, she'd never say it out loud.

Giving a Grace a boost, she held his hand to help the boy into the vent. He held the girl's hand to Grace so she wouldn't fall back behind.

She gave a silent hiss of pain.

"This is the last time I'm fighting long armed freaks."

Eleven chuckled in amusement.

The vents seemingly welcome the pair.

Grace clings to Eleven.

"I hate being dependant."

"Sometimes you need help to survive."

Eleven replies softly, Grace thought it a second. Taking it into account, she hugged him a bit.

"Yeah, I guess."

They both just wanted to survive.

Reaching the middle, the two were able to stand up a bit. Eleven out Grace's arm around his shoulder, holding arm around her waist to ensure balance.

"I'm useless."

"Give me information. I'll take you where you need to go. We need each other, at least until the end."

Grace agrees mutely. Singing, they watch the hooks.

Up the ladder, Eleven helps Grace above.

Clutching the girl by his side, the two set off finding meet hooks. Grace growls softly, even a bit feral.

"Damn things."

She curses under her breath. Eleven hear regardless.

He even feels a bit sorry.

I thought my compassion died long ago.

"Hey, get a hook."

Grace winced, Eleven placing the girl down. She pressured wound so more blood wouldn't spill.

"But-"

"Get it from the back and then come back. I'll be fine. Promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep."

"Awww."

Grace chuckled, though not amused.

"Those are the best kind."

Eleven hurried to get away.

For a moment, he feels fear. How far is someone willing to die to sacrifice themselves into the place of another? What is the term?

I don't know.

He just knows to keep a close eye on his friend.

His friend.

The term sounds satisfyingly right.

Whoosssshhhhhhh.

The hook finally sends into sight. Eleven grabbed at it to slow it down, it made him fly a little. His hand grabbed Grace's, pulling the child up.

Grace clung to Eleven's back.

"Sorry if I make your uncomfortable."

Eleven smiled softly, holding the hand. Their fingers intertwined, his thumb stroking over Grace's palm.

"It's fine."

Grace smiled as well. Actually happy, something warm came up. A fuzzing feeling. She looked above.

Grace paled after what she saw.

Some kind of chef monster smoking. Clearly being lazy in the job. On the maw, nothing required breaks.

Rumours were sometimes true.

"...We haven't found a nome in quite a while."

Grace rose a brow, frowning at the flesh change of subject. Eleven's panicked tactics included this.

"Wanna hug the next one, we might come across?"

Grace beamed, the hook bouncing slightly. The little amount of energy she resisted had her in purge. A smile stretched.

"YES!"

Like an excited child, she hugged Eleven.

"Thanks for protecting me."

"Your not helpless."

"Still, I'd be dead if you hadn't helped with the janitor."

"Well."

Eleven turned his head to look into Grace's eyes.

"You helped me with just knowing. I'm clueless about the maw. I'm glad someone can guide me on the way."

"Guess we're stuck in a nightmare."

***

They arrived in the meat room.

Sacks of the food excuse their fall. Grace lands along with Eleven on the bags. She's in his arms.

She wants to be there a minute more.

"We're here."

Eleven says softly, Grace looks up. She huffs, yawning. She must've fell asleep in the way.

The trip felt too long.

"I see."

Grace attempts to get up, only to fall.

Is this a rise and fall crap?

Eleven extends a hand. Grace looks up, still not used to the help. They'd only met hours ago.

Yet it feels somewhat longer.

"Trust me."

Grace smiled. A bitter one.

"That's what my Mama said just before hurting me."

Eleven only raises a brow, Grace bites her lip.

That gaze makes the girl nervous. Grace's fingers began tapping a tune. All too familiar.

'Hmm, hmm, hmm..'

Eleven's eye twitched.

"Don't do that!"

The unexpected yell has Grace crawl back slightly. Eleven immediately regrets his action.

He forgot how sensitive people can be.

"Hey..."

He tries soothingly, bending down to extend a hand.

Grace looks up suspiciously, automatically becoming like she does when they first meet. Except this time Eleven is prepared.

He catches the leg and spins the girl around.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please don't hurt me!"

Eleven turns Grave to face himself, shushing the girl.

For the first time, Eleven hugs Grace.

She stiffens, not knowing what to do. Should she hug back? Run? Try to fight?

Don't be silly, he's stronger.

Thank you, feminist side.

Grace allowed her hand to be held, then they stay heading along again. To continue their journey.

To get off the damn Maw.

Grace and Eleven stay in silence. To examine their surroundings, a meat room. With crates, bags, meat hooks.

"What is up with the meat hooks?"

"Fish. I've seen it before."

"Ew."

Grace scrunched up her nose, making a disgusted face. Calming down, the kids see their way out.

Squeak. Squeak.

Grace overhears, Eleven walking forward instantly.

"...It's a rat."

She relaxes. At least they aren't in any danger, for now. They can relax, be safe.

Even talk a little.

"Not eating that."

"Agree."

SNAP!

Both rushed to the other room, then the sight sickens them. The rat inside caught inside a trap.

"It's stuck."

"Just ignore it."

Eleven dragged Grace away from the horrible sight.

She actually feels sorry for the little thing.

Grace gives Eleven a boost, himself just leaning close to clutch the edge of the metal like bin.

"Hey!"

Rolling his eyes, Eleven lifts Grace to the surface. She cringes as she sets foot on the nest bags.

"Practical."

"Don't notice."

She glared when he said the sarcastic quip.

Eleven gave a wink. A hand twitched.

"..."

He flinched from the slap received by Grace.

***

Eleven went over to the cart, pushing it towards the window. Grace took a breath, then joins until it's near the window.

Grace jumped onto the chart, Eleven joining moments later. He took his turn in being the shadow.

Grace blended better in the light.

"Now, the chefs."

Eleven nodded, grabbing Grace hand. They went together once again into the new new part of the ship. To face another nightmare.

Eleven only hopes they won't die.
