Welcome those, who got there willingly or just accidentally stumbled upon this book and somehow found it interesting.

As the title says, it's gonna be an extra book that explains lore and some backgrounds of the characters. And as it's an Artbook after all, every chapter will have at least one drawing.

Obviously will contain spoilers for "Chain of Death" and Little Nightmares games themselves.

I don't own any Little Nightmares games and comics. It belongs to Bandai Namco Entertainment.

There might appear some oc of mine, but most likely only as a background characters and won't affect the story (while creating the story, I wanna focus only on canon characters).

The story isn not following game at all, especially VLN where most of it's part gonna be changed in many ways: characters would be able to jump and collect various things from surroundings, (I should point it since VLN's mechanics doesn't allow for that in game). Some characters might team up with each other in groups (like we see in The Nest's squad at the beginning), make decisions that will affect the story line and obviously can talk.

To those who have never heard of "Chain of Death", it's a Little Nightmares Animal Alternative Universe. As the name suggest, the characters are animals, more precisely anthropomorphic animals (aka furries).

Now I shall give ya a new, better description to get some knowledge on the plot (thanks and some credit to Szariik_Wolf who wrote vast part of it, I fixed some errors)

3 years have passed since Five, a young fox in a yellow raincoat, had been trapped in The Nest - a huge mansion placed on a small island in the middle of the sea.
During her stay she met and managed to befriend two other captives: Six, just like Five, a young fox and Ten, a young tiger.
After all the time of trying to survive in the furthers corners of the twisted mansion called The Nest, they decide to escape and find a better place to live, or go back to where they belong.

Now maybe let's say something about the lore

Only mammals appear as anthropomorphic animals. Birds, reptiles and amphibians remain as regular animals.

Considering that mammals are anthropomorphic, feral mammals such as rats in The Maw won't appear and where it will be possible, will be replaced with other animal.

It is possible for two different mammal species to breed. In that case, the offspring will be one of their parents' species, but can as well inherit some characteristics of their other parent too, like eye colour or fur mutations, like albinism or melanism for example.

Primates, fully marine mammals (whales, dolphins etc.), domestic animals (dogs, pigs, majority of cat breeds etc.) do not exist here.

Herbivore mammals are minority in the world (Smth like 75% of population are carnivores).

Supernatural animals from various myth and legends are also existing species. There gonna be mainly Japanese monsters, known as yōkais to fit LN that is mainly Japanese-based. Out of all the various yōkais, there gonna appear for sure bakedanuki (or tanuki, monster or daemon versions of raccoon dogs), bakegitsune (or kitsune, monster/daemon foxes), nekomata (monster/daemon cats with doubled tail/two tails), tengu (despite of being pictured as those weird red long nosed men these days, here their design will be a mix of old imagination of Tengu being canine-like monsters with more modern imagination of Tengu that includes crow features), Tenome (monster with eyes on it's hands), Baku (hybrid beast feasting on dreams, especially nightmares). Besides Japanese monsters, there will also appear few gumihos (Korean nine tailed monster foxes, similar to kitsunes) and who knows what more.

It is possible for regular mammals to be in relationship with supernaturals. Although there's big chance that their children will be fully supernatural species, this is the only scenario where their children can actually be a hybrid. As a example I'm gonna bring here Mono, who despite of being raccoon, has canine paw pads and hind legs. His mask mark also more is more like tanuki mask than raccoon's (his father was a tanuki).
No matter what species they'll inherit from their parents, they'll have supernatural abilities.

Although the signal of The Signal Tower is corrupting every mammal regardless of species, herbivores much less resistant to the signal than omnivores and carnivores. Hence why vast majority of the Viewers are animals such as deers, mooses, rabbits, hares etc. It's unknown why herbivore mammals are more susceptible for signal's corruption.

The signal can affect mammal's species if they're hybrid. Again as an example I'm gonna bring up Mono, who because of growing up in The Signal Tower lost all his raccoon features and fully became a tanuki.

Supernaturals are much more likely to be affected by the Signal than regulars. It can corrupt and distort them and eventually make them part of the Flesh Walls. Over the years, it successfully weakened them, such as weakeaning and taking away some of their powers, longevity etc.
It also takes their powers away if the powers are these needed to strengthen the Signal.
After taking away monster's powers, it most likely will turn into regular mammal (for ex. if a kitsune's powers were taken, it'll lost it's tails, unnatural fur colour and marking and become a regular fox)

Despite the fact that supernaturals are still very powerful and find themselves to be in charge, there's very, VEEERYYY little of them left. The best example would be The Lady, who is the last kitsune (it's not really a spoiler, it's a funfact since it doesn't play any role in the story)
