"Well, the truth behind this incident is very, very easy for me to understand." Principal Ratface pauses, taking a deep breath. "What I don't find easy to understand, is how someone could possibly want to take the fall for this... thing." Ratface gestures to me.
"Definitely taking no offense to that comment," I roll my eyes, sarcastically.
"This was entirely and truthfully my fault," Ari grits his teeth, glancing at me. The clear you owe me expression stained onto his face.
"Oh Ari," Ratface shakes his head.
"Like I said before," his voice piques. Ari is probably one of the worst liars I know.
"If you say so..." Ratface shrugs, writing something on a sticky note. "Come meet with me after school, we'll discuss the matter further then. For now, the two of you are free to go." Ratface sighs, and we both stand up slowly, exiting the office.
"I don't even know where to begin," Ar sticks out a particularly disrespectful finger. I'm well deserving of it though.
"Let me start by saying I apologize," I begin.
"For?" Ari inquires.
"For showing that bitch who's boss!" I giggle.
"Why can't you ever be serious! You could have gotten expelled, and I saved your ass! The least you can do for me is have a mature conversation." Ar's faces flushes, transitioning from a pale pink to a deep scarlet. I've never seen him get so worked up about anything except for Anna Clendening.
"I'm sorry..." I stutter, taken aback by the sight of Ar's angry side.
"It's okay, I mean it's nothing in comparison to your past tricks..." he chuckles a little.
"Correct," I giggle, easing back into myself.

"Oh Harper," I sigh, taking a large bite of my free cookie.
"No loitering," Dylan calls from across the store.
"I'm not loitering..." I reply, "I am simply skipping class and refusing to give your bakery any of my money,"
"You have got to stop letting these kids take our stuff for free," Dylan rolls her eyes.
"I'm not a child," I stick out my tongue in defiance.
"Prove my point..." Dylan giggles.
"Don't listen to her," Harper turns to me.
"Bleh," Dylan waves her hand, sassily, turning away from our conversation.
"When are you going to ask her out?" I fold my arms.
"Shh, not so loud." Harper shoves me, gently.
"You've got to at some point." I roll my eyes.
"Worry about your own shit." She turns to the oven behind her, making a severe beeping noise.
"How about you do it right now, or I'll do it for you?" I suggest.
"Fuck, I burned the goddamn cookies again." She sighs.
"Stop avoiding my suggestions." I hop over the counter, joining her.
"I swear to god if those are overcooked again, Harper!" Dylan calls from the back.
"They're most definitely not burned." I answer for Harper, who is sinking into the floor with embarrassment. "Do it now." I urge.
"It's not that simple," she shrugs slowly.
"Well you like her, and you're a mature adult...not necessarily a mature baker...but still," I continue.
"I'm not even one hundred percent positive if she likes girls." She glances between the burnt cookies and her feet.
"Dylan do you like girls?" I yell from across the bakery.
"Yup," she laughs.
"Well there you go," I throw my hands up in exasperation.
"I cannot believe you just did that." Harper lays her head in her hands.
"If you don't ask her out in the next ten seconds, I am going to start screaming." I threaten.
"Please, you're bluffing." She stands up, taking a bite of the stale and blackened cookies.
"You know very well that I am not," I caution. "Alright then. Ten...nine...eight..." I pause.
"I hate you so much sometimes, Adriann." She stomps across the room angrily.
"Seven! Six!" I yell after her.
"Dylan? You got a sec?" She begins, glancing back at me and giving me one of the coldest glares I have ever received.
"If this is about those burnt cookies just get rid of them before I can get a look," she laughs.
"Not about that," Harper rises on her tiptoes, and returns to the flat of her foot.
"Alright then," Dylan turns around.
"Five! Four!" I continue.
"Quit it, Ad!" Harper scolds.
"Come on then, spit it out." Dylan taps her foot on the ground, still smiling.
"Do you wanna go out with me sometime?" Harper gulps.
"Should I peer pressure her?" I squawk.
"No need, Adriann. Sure I'd love to." Dylan turns back to her work.
"Wow." Harper's eyes widen. She turns into someone of a creepy mannequin posture and expression-wise.
"That all?" Dylan asks.
"Yup." Stiffly, Harper walks back over to me.
"See, look how easy." I giggle.
"Yup." Harper repeats. "I have a date with Dylan..." she whispers, excitedly.
"Yup." I mimick.

"I have to admit I did not see this couple coming," I concede, leaping up onto one of the stop ledges outside of the school.
"Neither did I," Josh replies.
"I mean I really didn't see it coming." I emphasize.
"Yeah, I think we got that..." Brecken rolls her eyes.
"Didn't see you in sixth period today, where were you?" Josh changes the subject.
"Sweet Shack," I wink.
"That place is a mess," Brecken shakes her head.
"It's our mess." I smile down at her.
"Get down from there, knowing you, there is no way you won't trip and crack your head open." Josh crosses his arms impatiently.
"I like being tall," I argue. Approaching was one of my favorite people. I could feel my face light up when I saw him. "Ari!" I scream as soon as he is close enough to hear. Once he is nearer I leap into his arms from the ledge. He's lucky he has quick reflexes. I land in a straddling position, my hands linked behind his head. He spins me around.
"Quite a greeting," he laughs, smiling his perfected grin.
"Well I missed you quite a bit." I reply, as he lowers me to the ground.
"Since lunch?" He laughs again. "Woah since when?" He turns to Josh and Brecken, noticing Josh has an arm around her.
"It's recent." Brecken kisses his cheek.
"Nobody loves me!" I moan at the top of my lungs in jealously.
"You're fine, Ad." He smirks.
"I want someone to hold me." I complain.
"You're just, you're just fine." He giggles, turning to the parking lot. "Hey that's my mom, need a ride?"
"Nah I'm good, Luke Solton is my shofer." I decline.
"Alright." He darts off towards his car.
"Now that is a couple I did not see coming," Breck glances at Ari.
"But we're not a couple," I laugh.
"Ari! Oh I missed you so much, or Ari!" Josh mocks.
"He's like my best friend..." I contradict.
"Could have fooled me." Josh scratches the back of his neck.
"Trust me I don't like Ari that way." I reply with confidence. Although for the first time in awhile, I am not so confident in this answer.
