[13] Pluviophile☔
"What happened last night?" I lift myself onto Luke's countertop, settling comfortably with one leg crossed over the other.
"I wasn't where you were," he shrugs, continuing to stir the eggs into to a crisp scramble.
"I feel like something happened with you," I narrow my eyes.
"I was there when you blacked out," he corrects himself, a clutter of steam rising from the pan.
"No, something before that." I ponder, trying to think back to minutes before I passed out.
"Beats me." he replies.
"Something with you, then something with Ari." I look to the ceiling.
"Something with Ari?" he squints at me.
"I can't put my finger on it," I sigh, hopelessly.
"Well you told me for the second time you're in love with me," he remarks blandly, lifting the pan from the stove.
"Wh-what?" I stutter, flabbergasted.
"It's not like it was the first time," he chuckles, dumping the eggs onto a plate.
"When was time one and two?!" I fold my arms, angrily.
"So you admit you love me?" he raises a perfect eyebrow, to a clear arch.
"No..." I pause, "But if what you say is true, when did I say those things?" I look at my feet. God, have I ever been more embarrassed? Maybe that one time in the cafeteria a few days ago...no, even this is worse.
"You fell asleep in my car, I drove the whole time." he explains, quoting one of my favorite Twenty One Pilots songs.
"You mean that night?" I inquire, thinking back.
"Yeah, and yesterday at the party." he hands me a small plate, piping hot scrambled eggs sitting beneath a mountain of salt. Just the way I like it.
"God no," I shake my head.
"I don't mind," he pauses.
Luke Solton doesn't mind that I have a crush on him? Does that mean he likes me back? What if Luke does like me back? Could I be Luke's girlfriend soon?
"Lots of girls like me," he flashes a twinkling grin, as I deflate like a balloon.
"Great," I sigh, stabbing my fork into my perfect breakfast. "Great."
-----------------------------------------
"I hate Mondays," I whine, my voice gaspy.
"Can't say I don't agree," Ari nods.
"I also hate school," I move towards the front of the curtain, upstage.
"As do I," he agrees.
"And school is on Mondays," I add.
"Also Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday." he sighs.
"And the play is in 19 days," I groan.
"And you still don't know who Anna Clendening is," Ar reminds me.
"I lost your gift card," I try to find an excuse.
"It's right there, still sticking out of your backpack." he catches my mistake.
"Ugh fine, I'll buy a couple of her songs." I give in.
"You better," he points.
"Action!" Mr. Wilson's voice calls from the audience. I step onto the stage, sitting in the chair laid out for me.
And here comes Shaye Bassle. Oh, how I do enjoy our scenes together.
"She's gone! The old hag is gone!" Shaye folds her arms, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
"Bravo!" I clap.
"The day is over, the jail is open, home we go!"
"You go, querida. I will lock up."
"You can finish tomorrow. Come!" I remain seated, pretending to be sewing the veil for a wedding gown.
"I am in no hurry," I reply, cooly.
"I am, I'm going to take a---" Shaye stops. Did Shaye Bassle forget her line?
"Cut!" Mr. Wilson screams, his face turning a bright orange.
"Line?" Shaye whispers to the ground.
"Shaye, honestly I don't know what to think. You were supposed to have your lines rolling off the tongue by last Monday. I would never have expected this from you." Mr. Wilson shakes his head at Shaye, forcing me to snort back my laughter.
"I'm sorry," she whimpers, not willing to look up from the ground.
"I bet you are," He turns to leave the stage.
The rambunctious bell sounds, louder than ever, signifying the end of rehearsal.
"Shaye, that line better be flawless, by tomorrow."
"Yes sir," she mutters, fear muffling her words. I burst out giggling, and exit the theater, watching Shaye gape. Today's a good day.

"Come on!" I call to Khloe, who is standing under an umbrella on the steps, next to Ava.
' "You're crazy!" she responds, glancing at Ava.
"You're crazy not to be down here," I remind her, spinning on the pooling blacktop.
"Why do you like it out there?" Ava facepalms.
"I'm a pluviophile." I explain.
"A pedophile? That explains a lot..." she chuckles.
"Not a pedophile, you idiot. A pluviophile." I stick out my tongue, catching the humid rain drops.
"What the hell is a pluviophile?" Ava furrows her brows, probably in annoyance.
"Someone who takes comfort and finds bliss in the rain," I grin, flipping my soaking hair over my shoulder, sassily.
"Of course, I should've known." she shakes her head, exaggerating her sarcasm more than usual.
"She does this a lot," Khloe assures Ava.
"I can still hear you," I remind them, the rising feeling of being irked, changing my walking-on- clouds mood. Just being around Ava in general makes me unhappy. That's probably not fair, but I feel Khloe slipping away from me, and it's all Ava's fault. I can't like my best-friend-stealer.
"Surprised you can, above the wretched sound of that rainfall." Khloe gestures all around us.
"Fuck you," I roll my eyes, trotting up the steps to them.
"We should go back inside, free period is almost over." Khloe buzzkills. She opens the door and holds it for all of us, as we enter the building. A few eyes linger on my dripping wet body, but I dismiss them with my superiority.
"Khloe, you still haven't signed my petition," I elicit.
"And I'm never going to," she replies, with a heavy huff.
"Whyyyyyyy?" I moan.
"Because homework is a good way to keep your brain cells working and intact, and schoolwork can be pretty enjoyable at times," she repeats, probably for the twentieth time this week...and it's Monday.
"Change of subject," I begin.
"What happened at the party last night? I remember zip." I hold up a fist.
"N-nothing," Ava stutters, responding immediately, almost cutting me off.
"I meant with me..." I respond, suspiciously. "What do you mean, n-nothing?"
"She means nothing," Khloe glares, and turns to leave for her locker.
"Does she always just walk out like that?" Ava inquires, annoyed.
"Yup, whenever she feels like it." I assure her.
