44. Pain
Bokuto rushed into the hospital, worried sick for his mate. He hurried to the front desk. "Do you guys have Keiji Akaashi-Bokuto?"
"Yes sir. Are you his mate?"
"Yeah! Is he okay?!"
"He's in labor right now. We need to-"
"Yeah the shot. Sorry for stopping you but quickly give it to me."
"Yes sir." The nurse stood and walked around the desk. She gave him the shot. "This one is a lot stronger than what we usually give out because of his pain and how he's giving birth."
"This is different?"
"He has to go natural at this point."
Bokuto gulped. That's not they wanted. He was brought to Akaashi, who was laying on a hospital bed and trying to take deep breaths. Bokuto hurried to him and held his hand. "Keiji."
"The pain medications won't work." Akaashi whimpered.
Bokuto furrowed his brows. "Do you want me to try my scent?"
"I-I don't think it'll work... it hurts... so bad..." Akaashi started crying.
Bokuto internaly panicked for a moment. He let out his scent some, leaning over and holding Akaashi. "Deep breaths."
"I-I can't."
One of the nurses went to Akaashi, just as worried as the rest of the doctors, only she was showing it. "Keiji, could you put one arm up slightly and take a deep breath?"
Akaashi did this, shaky. He winced. "C-can I... please..."
Bokuto wiped away Akaashi's tears gently. "Keiji."
Akaashi looked at him. He seemed terrified.
Bokuto kissed his cheek. "I've got you and the doctors do too. You'll be alright, I promise."
"I don't think I will..."
"I know. It's probably very scary. But the doctors know what to do and all we have to do is listen."
"Push!"
Akaashi nearly screamed as he tried to push. He sobbed, not wanting to do this anymore. "Can I just be put under? Please I can't... I can't do this..."
"You're almost there." One of the nurses reassured.
Akaashi had to push again. He cried out, feeling more and more pain build up. "It's gonna tear! Please I can't!" Bokuto held Akaashi's hand firmly. He tilted his head towards himself. Akaashi sighed shakily. "I-I'm scared."
Bokuto looked towards the doctors. One of them looked up. "He's almost there. At least three more pushes."
"Hear that Keiji? It's okay."
"I'm going to pass out." Akaashi whispered. Bokuto looked at the nurse. She hastily gave him a bottle and Bokuto got Akaashi to drink. Bokuto patted his cheek, trying to keep him focused. Akaashi closed his eyes and let go for a moment.
"Keiji!"
Akaashi startled awake and stared. "I'm here, I'm here."
"Good. I would hope so."
Akaashi had to push again and was allowed to scream again.
"Hey it's only-"
"Koutarou I love you but please shut up-!" Bokuto ignored that the comment kind of made him upset. He kissed Akaashi's forehead. Akaashi looked at him again, tears streaming down his cheeks.
Bokuto smiled. "You're almost there."
Akaashi nodded. He again needed to push and a long string of curse words came from him and Bokuto couldn't help but chuckle at him. Akaashi looked at him again and laughed. "Shut up."
"You never cuss that much."
Akaashi coughed. "Am I close? At all?"
"You are! Just one more push!"
"Oh thank God."
Bokuto moved his sweat soaked bangs and smiled. Akaashi looked exhausted but he was hopeful. That's all they needed at the moment. "Push!"
Akaashi pushed harder. "Is it over? PLease tell me it's over..."
"Ah. Try one more time."
Bokuto felt the shot from earlier start to wear off. "Oh shit."
Akaashi looked up, confused.
"I need another shot I'm going to go feral." Bokuto said quickly.
Akaashi looked at the nurse next to him and asked her to give Bokuto another shot. It was given to him quickly and Bokuto had to focus on Akaashi for a moment as it kicked in again.
"Push!"
Akaashi pushed again and felt something become lighter. He sighed shakily. "Please tell me that was it."
"WAAA!"
Akaashi smiled tiredly and closed his eyes. Bokuto patted his cheek to make sure he was okay and got an exhausted stare back. "Mm..."
"Here we go."
Akaashi looked over as a nurse came closer with Tabiki. The child was put on his chest. He calmed down more and smiled at the little boy. "Hi there... whew..."
Bokuto smiled. "This is our little trouble maker."
"He's a cutie." Akaashi whispered. "Oh God it hurts still..."
"We're gonna get you cleaned up, okay? And your little boy needs to get himself washed up too, okay?"
"Mhmm." Akaashi gave Tabiki to the nurse and closed his eyes. "Can I go to sleep now?"
"Of course."
Akaashi relaxed, holding Bokuto's hand. He smiled. "He has your eyes."
Bokuto smiled. He kissed Akaashi's forehead and let out his scent, easing him to sleep.
****
When Akaashi woke back up there were several smells around him that he really couldn't identify. He was warm though and he was very comfortale so he just shifted slightly and yawned. Bokuto looked at him and smiled. "Hey there."
"Mm. Hi." Akaashi sat up slowly and then stopped before laying back down.
"Still hurts?"
"A lot."
"Ah." Bokuto got up and helped Akaashi sit up some. "You need some water?"
"Please?"
"Sure." Bokuto pulled a bottle out of the bag by the bed and handed it to him.
"Where's Tabiki?" Akaashi mumbled. Bokuto pointed to the other side of the room where a ravenette woman was holding Tabiki. "Rina?"
The older woman looked over and smiled. "Hey Keiji."
"What... why?" Akaashi looked at Bokuto.
"I accidentally told her too but she said congrats too and wanted to come see him. I hope that doesn't make you mad."
"Well no but I didn't know my sister would be here."
Rina nodded. "I understand if you're mad. I just wanted to come say hi to the little guy and to you."
Akaashi pulled Bokuto down and whispered to him. "Does she know about Emiko?"
"Do you want me to ask?"
"Yeah."
Bokuto turned. "Hey do you know about Emiko?"
"Oh! Yeah! Mom told me about her but for some reason she was rude about it and it really sucked. So what if the girl's blind."
Akaashi stared at her. "Can I have my son?"
Rina walked over and gave him to Akaashi.
"Thank you..."
"Mhmm. Do you need me to go?"
"No, no it's okay." He whispered. Akaashi smiled at Tabiki, who whined softly and moved. "Oh your eyes are so pretty..."
"You know what's cool?" Bokuto questioned.
"Hm?"
"He has my eyes and your hair. Emmy has my hair and your eyes. That's like the coolest thing ever."
"Genetics are weird." Akaashi stated.
Bokuto laughed and glanced behind him. "Hey Suga!"
"Hey!" Sugawara hurried into the room. "I got food for both of you."
"Oh my God you're an angel. Rina, hold Tabiki quickly." Akaashi gave his son to his sister and took one of the containers.
"Ooh it must not have gone too good if you're like that."
"Natural birth absolutely sucks."
"Oh God are you okay?"
"Mhmm. Just sore and stuff." Akaashi started eating, going quiet. Bokuto ate as well, keeping his eye on Rina and making sure she was being gentle with Tabiki. Sugawara shifted uncomfortably. He wanted to either talk or hold the newborn. Akaashi noticed. "Rina give Tabiki to Suga."
"Ah okay." She gave him to Suga.
Suga sat down on the bed and held the baby, smiling. "He's so cute."
"Mhmm."
"Hi there little guy." Suga gently took one of Tabki's hands in his own and giggled softly.
Akaashi smiled and kept eating. "Where's- wait. Where's Emiko?!"
Bokuto looked at him. "Yamaguchi is on his way here with Emmy. It's okay."
"Oh thank God." Akaashi leaned back. "I thought you left her at the daycare or something."
"Pfft."
Akaashi laughed. "God I'm so tired."
"Well yeah. You slept all night."
"Night?!"
"Yeah?"
Suga looked up. "Yama told me you started to go into labor around like five. You didn't really even want to get up and come here for a while and you didn't get here until like seven and then it took you like two hours two pop Tabiki out and then you passed out."
"Actually he woke up at midnight and kinda laughed with me for like half an hour and didn't want to go back to sleep but fell asleep." Bokuto stated.
"Aw."
Akaashi yawned. "What time is it now?"
"Like nine."
Akaashi nodded. He closed his container and watched Bokuto gently take Tabiki. He smiled. Bokuto had such a loving stare.
