23. Again

The few minutes Bokuto and Akaashi had supposed be sleeping in stretched out, eventually turning to hours. Sleep wasn't something they always got, much less tangled up together. Sometimes Akaashi would stay at the office overnight and sleep there and Bokuto stayed home for Emiko. Sometimes it was the other way around.

But now they were tangled up, Bokuto snoring lightly against Akaashi's chest.

Akaashi was holding him, comfortable and relaxed.

In the next room over Yamaguchi was asleep as well, Emiko in her crib. He'd fallen asleep draped over the rocking chair, his phone off but still in a call. Tsukishima was on that call, also asleep.

Emiko wasn't really asleep, just making soft cooing noises. She was hungry but her parents weren't coming to her to give her a bottle or something so she could sleep properly.

Emiko started crying, getting louder and louder until finally someone woke up. Yamaguchi got up for a moment, trying to figure out what to do. He didn't know where everything was held. That was confusing.

He went into Akaashi's room, carrying Emiko. Akaashi whined, not wanting to wake up yet.

"U-um she's not stopping..." Yamaguchi mumbled.

Akaashi sat up, tearing away from Bokuto. "Mkay. Just give her here."

Yamaguchi handed her over.

Akaashi rubbed his eyes. "Shhhh. It's okay."

"U-um I think I'm gonna go home. Tsuki doesn't like sleeping alone and he's alone right now."

"Go on." Akaashi yawned. "Thanks for the help."

"No problem." Yamaguchi walked out.

Akaashi hummed in response and fed Emiko, easing her back to sleep and kissing her head to keep her calm. She was set in the bassinet in his room before hopping back into bed and snuggling with Bokuto.

Bokuto looked at him, drowsy. "What's... that...?"

"Emiko had to be fed. It's okay." Akaashi yawned and covered them up in blankets. He kissed Bokuto's temple. "Go to sleep."

"Mm." Bokuto turned over.

Akaashi yawned spooned him, still being gentle. He gave him a careful squeeze. "Love you."

"...ove... oo..." Bokuto whispered, nearly asleep now.

Akaashi fell asleep, holding Bokuto. A soft snoring emitted from Bokuto and he was calm again.

****

Akaashi yawned quietly, sitting up. Bokuto whined loudly and pulled him back into the blankets. "Nooo! We have time! Come back!"

Akaashi sighed. He laid there for a moment. "Ko."

Bokuto held him tighter. "Please. I don't feel like getting up today..."

Akaashi closed his eyes. "Genuinely don't feel the purpose of getting up or just tired?"

"First one."

"Mm." Akaashi turned around and kissed Bokuto's forehead. "Do you wanna try first before I get up?"

Bokuto shook his head. "I don't want to."

"That's okay. I'll be right back." Akaashi walked off, going to the kitchen. He started coffee for Bokuto, knowing he'd like to drink something to give him energy. Bokuto not wanting to get up wasn't always normal but when it happened Akaashi tried to get him to feel better.

He picked up the bottle of pills that Bokuto had to take one from each morning and walked back to their room. He sat down and gave Bokuto both the pill and the coffee. "Thanks..."

"Mhmm." Akaashi kissed his forehead. "We need to get you some food, okay?"

"Blech." Bokuto frowned at him. "I have to?"

"Yes, you do." Akaashi kissed him. "Don't worry, it won't be too much." He got up again. He got Emiko from her bassinet and waled over.

Bokuto looked up. He stretched out an arm. "Hey hey hey..." Akaashi gave Emiko to Bokuto. Bokuto smiled tiredly at her. "Hey Emmy... you okay? No more crying today?"

"She's a baby Ko... she's gonna cry."

Bokuto closed his mouth. "Sorry that was stupid of me to say..."

"No, no it's okay." Akaashi got back on the bed and held Bokuto's face in his hands. Emiko whined softly. Akaashi stretched a leg out and got the bassinet again. He put her back into it and held Bokuto.

"I-I'm sorry."

"It's okay..." Akaashi kissed Bokuto's hair and held him closer. "Deep breaths."

Bokuto took in several shaky breaths.

"No. No not like that." He kissed Bokuto's forehead. He patted his own collar bone. "Right here. It's okay. I know."

Bokuto hugged Akaashi, his head resting against his chest.

"In and out. Slowly." He kissed Bokuto's hair again. "Just let it out if you need. Remember, I'm here Koutarou. It's okay. I'm right here."

Bokuto coughed, trying to stop his crying.

"Can you try to take a deep breath for me?"

"M-mhmm."

"Good." Akaashi heard Bokuto take in a slower, more focused breath. "Good job. You're doing really good."

Bokuto took another deep breath, relaxing. "Mm. Y-you smell good..."

Akaashi smiled to himself, knowing that he'd altered his smell to something Bokuto preferred. It was something similar to lavender and lemons. That's why Bokuto wouldn't stop hanging off of him when he was pregnant. He loved the smell so much.

But it worked soon enough, allowing Bokuto to calm himself back down and ease back into the blankets.

"There we go."

Bokuto sniffed.

Akaashi kissed his cheek. "I'll be right back."

Bokuto smiled slightly. "Mkay."

"I love you." Akaashi walked back out and made something quickly for Bokuto. Bokuto's comfort breakfast was simple Nutella toast. It was chocolate and he loved it.

Akaashi brought it back and Bokuto ate slowly before setting it aside, only half of it gone.

The younger male looked at Bokuto. "What's wrong?"

"Not sure. Just my brain being funny again."

"Koutarou your brain "being funny" usually ends up to be-"

"Don't say it! It's not happening again. Promise."

"Ko."

Bokuto smiled. "It's okay. You can trust me."

Akaashi glanced to the side next to the desk where a pile of Bokuto's clothes were piling. He gulped.
