12. Beautiful
Bokuto picked him up carefully. "Woah you're heavy. Okay. Here we go."
Daichi got closer but both Akaashi and Bokuto growled loudly at him. Daichi backed up. "Got it. But Bokuto, I need to give you medicine too."
"What? Why?"
"Alphas have an extreme instinct to protect their mates in labor or in pain. I need to give you something that'll keep you calm."
"I can wait."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." Bokuto walked out to his car and put him in his car. Akaashi whimpered again. "I've got you."
Akaashi sniffed. "Ooh it hurts..."
"I know, sorry."
On the way to the hospital Akaashi kept shifting, worrying Bokuto. Even inside the hospital he was worried, seeing Akaashi whimpering loudly and letting out such a severe stress pheromone.
"Sir, we need you to take this before you go in there."
"No, please. I just need to be with him." Bokuto begged. From behind him a nurse walked up slowly before Bokuto cringed, feeling a needle in his scent gland. "Oh. There we go..."
"Thank you. Now you can come in."
Bokuto walked in and Akaashi looked up. He whined loudly, putting an arm out for him. Bokuto hurried to him and kissed his forehead and cheek. "Deep breath."
"Trying." Akaashi flinched. "I can still feel it."
"We're turning it up." A doctor stated.
Akaashi hummed. "Thank you..."
Bokuto focused on Akaashi and not beyond the curtain where he knew his mate's stomach was being opened to get their child out. Bokuto kissed Akaashi's forehead again.
"Mm..." Akaashi closed his eyes. "I feel like I'm going to pass out already."
A doctor went to Akaashi and handed Bokuto a cold cloth. Bokuto wiped his face and forehead. He smiled at his tired stare. "Hey there."
Akaashi hummed. "Is it over yet?"
"No, it's not. But it will be soon." Bokuto ran a hand through his hair. "Are you excited?"
Akaashi nodded. "I'll see them... soon." He smiled, feeling Bokuto kiss his temple. "Mm. You're going to be such a good dad..."
"So are you!" Bokuto held one of his hands. "I wonder if they'll have your eyes."
"Or yours."
"Or your hair. Which is kinda sweaty right now. Sticking to your forehead too." Bokuto rubbed his hand gently. "But you still look so beautiful."
Akaashi chuckled quietly. "You don't look too shabby yourself." He reached up and rubbed Bokuto's cheek.
Bokuto chuckled. "I love you."
"I love you-"
"WAAAA!"
Akaashi gasped. "There they are." He turned his head and saw a doctor walking out. "Wait."
Bokuto looked up. He frowned. "Where are you taking them?"
"There's an issue with her eyes. We're going to just check and see if they're okay."
Akaashi tensed. "M-my baby... oh no..."
Bokuto turned back to Akaashi. "Hey, hey, hey I'm sure she's okay." He paused. "She! Keiji we have a daughter!"
Akaashi laughed. "A baby girl..."
"Oh my God this is amazing!"
"It is but what's wrong with her..." Akaashi turned his head and sighed. "Is she going to be okay...?"
One of the nurses looked at him. "She's in great care. Let us just get you stitched back up and then you can see her."
Bokuto peeked past the curtain and gasped loudly. Akaashi turned his head again. "What is it?"
"O-oh wow I didn't like..." Bokuto collapsed onto the floor with a loud thud.
Akaashi whimpered loudly at the sight, annoyed but worried. One of the nurses quickly went to Bokuto help him up again and Akaashi watched, wanting nothing more than to take Bokuto away from her.
His mate. That man was his.
Akaashi growled loudly and grabbed at the pillow under him. He couldn't stop himself. They'd gotten him closed up and he felt his gown being brought back down. Now he wanted Bokuto out of that woman's hands. Right now.
He growled again, louder.
Bokuto sat up slowly and smiled. "Sorry about that Keiji..."
Akaashi reached for him, his anger still there.
"Uh oh. Did the fainting thing make you go feral a little?" He got up quickly and held Akaashi.
Akaashi relaxed again and held on. "What was the name we decided on again?"
"Either Emiko or Megumi."
"I like Emiko..." Akaashi closed his eyes. "I'm so tired right now..."
"I bet." Bokuto kissed his forehead. "They're gonna get you in an actual hospital room. Your bag is in my car too. While the move you I'll get it, okay?"
"Okay..." Akaashi smiled. "A baby girl..."
"I'll be right back."

Bokuto walked into Akaashi's room and smiled. "Keiji..."
Akaashi looked up, eyes full of tears. "She's beautiful."
Bokuto hurried over and sat on the sidee of the bed. "Oh wow... she's so tiny and cute. Has she opened her eyes yet?"
"No, not yet. Not for me at least." Akaashi sniffed. "Little Emiko..."
Bokuto kissed Akaashi's forehead. "I love you two so much."
"I love you too." Akaashi lifted Emiko up on his chest a little and hummed. "Her hair is light. Just like yours."
"Wow..."
Akaashi kissed her head. "She's very healthy and they didn't feel the need to put her in the ICU so we have even more time with her."
"Did they find the eye issue?"
"They're going to tell me in a moment."
"Alrighty." Bokuto watched the child in Akaashi's arms. He'd helped make that child. After everything that had happened she was finally here, healthy and in her parent's arms. Bokuto looked to Akaashi, who looked the happiest he'd ever been. Exhausted but so happy.
Akaashi looked up and smiled, grabbing Bokuto's hand. "We did it."
"You did it." Bokuto kissed his forehead.
A doctor walked in and cleared his throat. Akaashi tensed and looked up. "Is everything okay with her?"
The doctor looked at his clip board for a moment. "We did a scan of her retinas and irises." He looked up. "Your daughter is blind."
Akaashi tensed again. Bokuto tightened his grip on Akaashi's hand. "Is there anything at all we can do? Is it in both eyes?"
"It is in both eyes. I'm afraid there is nothing you can do."
Akaashi nodded. "Thank you…"
The doctor walked back out.
"Koutarou…"
Bokuto looked Akaashi in the eye. "It's okay. Emiko isn't sick. She just can't see. I'm okay with that. Being blind is a normal thing for a lot of people."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course! This is my daughter and I love her."
Akaashi smiled. "Yeah… not that bad…"
Bokuto hummed. "Can I hold her now?"
"Of course." Akaashi gently placed her in Bokuto's arms. Bokuto held her, confident he was holding her right. He looked at one of her little hands and smiled. He tapped her palm and she held on.
Akaashi watched as Bokuto's eyes turned from nervousness to surprise and then to the purest love he'd ever seen.
Bokuto chuckled quietly as Emiko whined and opened her eyes. A light, light green. "Hey, hey, hey Emiko... I'm your Dad…"
Akaashi smiled. "How does it feel?"
"So good." Bokuto laughed. "She's so warm and tiny. She even has your eyes. Very light, but still. She's beautiful." He looked back down at the newborn in his arms. Emiko's eyes stayed in place, staring in his general direction. He kissed her head. "I won't let go of you, okay? Your mommy and I will always be here for you if you need."
Akaashi reached and held Bokuto's cheek. The older male smiled, ignoring the hot tears streaming down his cheeks. "Koutarou, I told you you'd be a great father. You're already doing so good."
"I try. I really do." Bokuto laughed. "Her little hand is holding onto me so gently and its making me really happy."
Akaashi laughed. "Can I have her back now?"
"Sure thing." Bokuto eased her into Akaashi's arms. What a wonderful little girl.
