"I'm telling you, you need to tell him you love him." Kieran basically preached to me for days on end after I told her about my affection towards Darry.

"Just leave me alone about it, Kieran." I glared at her walking away only for her to follow after me.

"No. TELL HIM! If you don't sorely regret it!" She grabbed me - roughly I might add - by the upper arm and turned me to face her on the sidewalk.

(Yes I meant to put sorely and not surely)

"I'm afraid he's going to break me." I whispered looking down, feeling smaller than an ant under her stare.

"Oh honey," she paused, "he is. He is, he is, he is. He's going to break you so many times and tear you down to your last strand. But you'll still love him. You'll still love him because that's what love is. Love is being broken and still hanging around because you know in your heart that you don't want anyone else and that this," she waves her hands around as she talks to create emphasis, "this whole big idea of love is something great."

"Then why should I give this a chance? Why should I ever give love a chance if I'm just going to end up hurt? I lock eyes with her through my lashes and she just smiles softly at me.

"Because," Kieran puts both her hands on my shoulders and looks directly into my eyes as she says this, "you and Darry could be the epitome of all that is love. You could be the story that someone writes a book about and people for years and years to come learn about." Kieran takes in a breath and rolls her eyes slightly at me. "Don't you see? You and Darry could be the envy of everyone in this town. Because your love could be true and everlasting and this beautiful and unbelievably true story that your grandchildren will tell their grandchildren and so on."

My mind drifts into different scenarios at this, the thoughts having captured my entire attention as Kieran and I continue to walk down the sidewalk together.

"But it won't be that way unless you tell him."

"TELL HER!" Everyone, including Johnny, screams at me after I tell them that Kieran and Olivia are on their way over. After a week of not seeing them, it will be nice to have them over, nice to talk about a few things.

"Dude she looks at you like you put the stars in the sky." Dally says when he notices my nervousness.

"Yeah I mean you might as well be her type of heaven." Johnny muses lightly but just loud enough for people to pick up on.

"Y'all," I sighed, "I was going to tell her anyway, but there's no need to lie to me."

"WE AIN'T LYING." They all yell just as someone walks through the door.

"WE AIN'T LYING." Is yelled as Kieran and I step inside the humble abode.

Kieran and I sit down calmly as everyone stares at the area of the room where we are or more namely, me.

It seems as if everyone has zoned out while staring at me and I was starting to get slightly uncomfortable.

"Hello." I called. "Earth to everyone. Staring is rude." After that they all seemed to snap out of their reverie and turn to Darry.

Darry turns around after a quick minute and asks "Can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure." I shrug and stand up from my spot on the couch as he had motioned as if he wanted to go in one of the back rooms and be alone for this.

Here we go again, I think. Time for another rejection from the man who stole my heart without realizing it.

He shuts the door behind himself somehow in my mind I can imagine everyone standing behind the door waiting for what he has to say.

I sit calmly in the desk chair and roll it over closer to the bed where Darry is, patiently waiting for him to begin.

I look down and notice he has been wringing his hands and smile slightly at the nervous gesture.

He looks up and stares at me for a second, "Have you ever been in love?" Darry asked.

"Yes." I answered honestly. "Have you?" I turned the question around on him

"Yes. Paisley King." It became silent for a moment. "You?"

"I used to date Randy." I blurted "He was my first... everything."

Darry became silent for a moment. He wet his cherry colored lips with his tongue and ran a dirty and calloused hand through his chestnut hair before turning to me. He seemed to be searching my face before he looked at his palms. "I don't care." He swallowed.

"Why?" I cocked my head at him curiously. Everyone in this town seemed to care about everything that wasn't their business, so why wouldn't Darry care about this? Then again Darry is different.

"Because when you're in love with someone, you seem to overlook simple things like that."
