Chapter 30: Rethink

"What's taking them so long?" Questioned Keith seeing that you two were in there for quite some time.

"Maybe something's wrong with White, let's give her more time." Bellox never made eye contact with Keith as he stood his ground.

"Hello? Y/n, what's going on?" Keith asked through the communicator but all he got back was static. "Y/n?" He tried again but to no avail. "I'm heading in-"

"Can't you just stay still?" Bellox took out his sword and managed to graze the tip of his sword down Keith's left arm.

"What the hell?!" Keith took a few steps back and held his injured arm. "So this was all just a setup, huh. I thought you two were good friends." Keith tried to distract him as he tried to think of a solution.

Bellox shrugged his shoulders as he circled Keith. "There are no friends when it comes to war."

Keith knew what was coming next, he readied his stance and whipped out his Bayard. "She trusted you two."

"And what? Am I supposed to feel bad now? We hit the jackpot. Two for one." And that's right. It wasn't just Keith and you. They will have two lions in their possession after they capture you both if you're lucky that's as far as they'd go.

"Like hell I'm gonna let you take our lions." Keith grunted as he swung his sword Bellox's way. He just let out a chuckle as he easily dodged it.

"You haven't changed much have you, paladin!" Bellox charged forward and faked a left as he took out his handguns and shot Keith's side causing him to clutch the fresh wound in pain. "You act first and think later, not the best strategy I would say." Keith felt his blood boil seeing that cocky smile on this traitor's face.

"Just shut up and fight!" Keith lunged forward and tried his best to land a hit. He jabbed his weapon towards Bellox's head, getting a scratch down his cheek. He didn't miss the chance to try and land another hit but Bellox charged his gun and started trying to shoot him down.

Keith opened up his wrist shield, blocking the laser bullets that were raining on him. Seeing how it wasn't very effective, Bellox had to find a way to get the shield down. He switched one of his handguns for a sword, making Keith blink in disbelief.

Only Bayards are supposed to have that mechanism.

"I picked up a thing or two when I would help Y/n fix her weapons." Bellox answered his internal question. Keith had a tighter grip on his sword and took another swing at the new enemy.

"Y/n can you hear me? Y/n!" Keith tried again at trying to contact you but to no avail. Keith was getting careless and distracted; busy worrying about you.

"It's useless, just appreciate the quick death I'm gonna give you!" Bellox saw an opening and took it without hesitation. Keith grunted in pain when the sword sliced his thigh, making him fall to one knee. Bellox let out a chuckle. "I don't even need all of this to take you out." His weapons disappear from his hands and he began his assault.

Punch after punch, kick after kick, Keith just couldn't find the strength to fight back, but why?

"You're making this too easy! Man up!" Keith tried to stand but ended up with a knee to the gut, spitting blood in the process. "Pathetic."

-

Was she serious? This was all a trap? To what? Kill me?

The thought wasn't registering fast enough in your head. Ezran came at you blow after blow, shattering whatever was unfortunate to get in the path of her swing and you. Dodging almost all the jabs that came your way.

You sprinted towards a corner, Ezran right on your tail and within seconds you bounced off the wall and flip to the other side. Ezran's weapon creating a deep dent in the wall and bending at the impact.

Now was your chance, you raced towards the white lion. You were so close you could already feel White's smooth metal exterior on your fingertips, but in a sudden move, the floor was swept out from under you.

"You should have stayed down, Y/n. It wouldn't have come to this." She lifts her lance ready to strike the final blow, but did she really think it'd be that easy?

So, it has.

You made up your mind, it's either you or her and there's no way you're letting it be you. A sly smirk pulls on your lips and while she's fazed you launch one hard kick to her stomach, your prosthetic leg slamming with a painful crack at her side. You watched as she stumbled back a few feet then propelled yourself back up, ready for round two and this time you weren't holding anything back.

"You don't have to do this Ezran-"

"SHUT UP!" You were shocked to see how her usual cheerful expression turned into pure hatred. "You don't know what I had to go through to get to where I am now." The person you were looking at now was completely different from the one you initially met.

"We can help you Ezran." You tried to convince.

"I said shut up!" It seems like you only made things worse because she started shooting a handgun at you while charging with her lance.

"Well, you were always stubborn." You muttered, but that's when you realized something very important.

White was still in the room.

-

Keith leaned on his uninjured knee and stood up, pain coursing through his body in protest but he ignored it. "I'm not letting you guys get your way, not after everything we had to go through." He coughed.

"Don't go thinking you're the good guys here." Bellox countered. Keith was confused, how could he believe that what they were doing was for a good cause? Or that anything good would come out of ruling over the entire galaxy?

"Bring it on you stupid grape." Keith lifted up his fists when he heard an explosion from behind causing him to take cover.

"Get in loser we're going Elox hunting!" You shouted with a chuckle from White's speakers.

Keith sighed in relief. He was ready to fight, and it was gonna be an epic one of course but seeing you already got White back he didn't want to waste more energy.

"Took you long enough." Keith fired up his jetpack and flew high enough for white to catch him in her mouth.

"Hold on to something." You said as you pushed the lever forward making your head hit the back of the seat while Keith slammed into the back of the ship.

Once you two got to a safe distance you slowed White down and set in the coordinates to the Castle.

"You look like shit." You commented.

"Thanks, Y/n." You could see him trying to stand up so you left White on autopilot and went to help him take a seat.

"Looks like Bellox put up a good fight." You grabbed his good arm and hoisted him up.

"Na, I had him right where I wanted him." He gave out a faint chuckle. "So about them-"

"I don't want to talk about it." You quickly answered his question. "Let's just look past it and find out where to go on from here." You didn't want to talk about the fact that your close and personal friends were just fakes and that they were basically using you since the beginning, you already knew that, so you didn't have to say it out loud.

Keith gave a silent nod to which you were grateful knowing he wouldn't press on the matter anymore.

"I'm gonna message the others to tell them what happened, you just stay here." Keith leaned back on the seat and let out a long sigh.

You walked over to the controls and sent out the communication signal.

"Hello? Guys?" You waited for a response but nothing was coming through. You looked back at Keith but he was already sound asleep and you noticed that the chair was glowing.

Right, Bellox added a healing seat.

You brought your attention back to the radio but still nothing.

"Pidge, Coran, Hunk, anybody?" You tried individually contacting them but there was no sign of them answering.

You went back to checking the coordinates but it was just, gone.

What the?

You tried to manually search for the castle or any of the ions for that matter but it was like they vanished. Your mind started racing with all the horrible possibilities that could come from this but you knew that you needed to relax and try to find a solution because freaking out wouldn't help anyone.

You walked back to Keith and slowly reclined the chair so that he could be more comfortable. He looked like he was in pain from how his eyebrows were furrowed. You carefully moved his hair from his face making him somewhat relax.

You weren't going to wake him up just to make him worry, you wanted him to at least have a few minutes of bliss before you two had to face whatever was going on.

I've got a bad feeling about this...
