Chapter 18: Not a part of the team

Everyone looked dumbfounded at you and you facepalmed when you heard him blow your cover. You sighed and then took a deep breath.

"Wait, so you're like the - like the president of the Blade?!" Hunk asked in astonishment. With a long sigh, you straightened your posture.

"Yup, well, now that you all know that so, Kolivan tell me, are Bellox and Ezran here as well?" You asked trying to change the subject.

"You called!~" You could hear from a distance the oh so familiar voice coming down the hall.

"Cheerful as ever." You smiled and braced yourself for the bear hug you would receive.

"I've missed you so much!" Ezran squealed as she squeezed you. You simply chuckled and caressed her blue hair as she kept a tight grip on you.

"Yeah, it's no fun if I don't have someone to tease." You could hear Bellox also coming down the hall. Ezran let go so Bellox could pull you in for a tight embrace which turned into him giving you a nuggie. "I knew you wouldn't die that easily." You just giggled and punched his arm playfully once he let you go.

"Paladins," You began, gaining their attention. "These are my partners, Bellox, and Ezran." You introduced.

"Nice to meet you all!" Ezran said with a wide smile like a child. She was a bit smaller than you but you could assure she could pack a punch.

"Yo." Bellox said with a simple raise of his hand. He then turned to look at you seriously. "So now that your back, I'm guessing you're gonna take up the work you left?" He asked. You also got serious and nodded firmly.

"Of course, I'll be leaving as soon as I get my bag back from Keith." You looked in his direction.

"What?" Shiro said, surprised by this new information.

"You're leaving?" Pidge asked.

"Yeah, I'm sorry this is all so sudden but I have work to do." You walked over to Keith and yanked your bag out of his hand. "I should get going. Thank you, everyone." You then turned to walk away but Allura got a firm grip on your shoulder.

"You're not going anywhere without giving us an explanation." She said in a deadly voice.

"Is that a threat Princess?" You turned on your heals to stare at Allura dead in the eyes. She was about 2 or 3 inches taller but it didn't matter to you, you would take her on if you needed to.

"Lady Y/n." Kolivan began but you never broke eye contact with Allura.

"What?"

"I can assure you that we can trust the Paladins and the princess. They have been our closest ally for some time now, you should speak to them." You furrowed your eyebrows and 'tched'.

"Fine." You looked towards your comrades. "But first you guys finish the conversation I interrupted. Bellox, Ezran come with me." You started walking out of the room and headed towards the lounge with them trailing behind.

It was a quick and quiet walk there. You made a small jump to sit comfortably on the couch with your hands behind your head and you finally felt yourself relax a bit.

You had a lot of catching up to do.

"So, what's happened while I was gone?"

~

"So Zarkon isn't dead..." Allura sighed as she took a seat on the step beneath her.

"I'm afraid not, we have intel from one of our spies that he is recovering and that for now his son Lotor is taking over."

"Wait, son? Zarkon had a kid?" Lance question as he crossed his arms over his chest finding it hard to believe that Zarkon actually, you know....did it.

"Yes, I know it's a bit hard to believe but we have to think about our next move."

"And what do you suggest?" Shiro spoke up.

"Well, I did have a plan in mind but with Lady Y/n's arrival, this changes a lot of things." Kolivan started brainstorming for a better plan.

"Why don't we plan this with everyone." Allura said standing up.

"I think that would be better." Shiro agreed.

"Alright, then I'll call Lady Y/n over." Kolivan simply pushed a button on his wristband.

~

"-and we were trying to figure out whether or not we should tell him that he wasn't dying." Ezran laughed along with you as Bellox furrowed his eyebrows and pouted.

"It wasn't funny! That weird juice we bought turned me blue! and then I turned into something like your skin tone!" You laughter came to a stop.

"And what's wrong with my skin tone?" You asked acting as if you were really offended.

"Nothing at all! It looks lovely on you but I certainly prefer my light purple tone, don't you agree?" He said while gesturing to his facial features with grace. You turned to your friend and let out a chuckle.

"Sure~~!" Said Ezran while trying to hide her obvious laughter.

"Oh come on, you guys know-" All of a sudden Bellox's wristband beeped once. "Looks like they're done talking." You sighed not wanting to go back.

"Let's get going!" Ezran was the first to stand up and grab your hand to drag you back to the bridge.

And everyone was just as you left them, standing in a semi-circle with tired and stressed expressions on their faces.

"We are ready when you are." Allura spoke up. You took a deep breath.

"Well, it all started when I was born-"

"Y/n..." Shiro gave you a warning making you chuckle.

"Sorry dad-" You stopped yourself realizing what you were about to say and held your head in your hand. "Old habits do die hard." You muttered under your breath. You could hear the chuckles from your comrades and glared at them to stop.

"Anyway." You straightened your posture and tried to think of where to begin.

"Are you Altean?" Allura couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Not exactly." You answered.

"How so?" She asked not understanding what you're implying.

"I'm human, but I was experimented on. I don't even remember anything before I got to meet your father. " You said coldly. "Anyway," You continued. "As I mentioned before, I used to work alongside your father in the making of the Lions. My role wasn't that important at the time but I would often be there just learning about Altean alchemy." Your gaze shifted from one paladin to the other as you spoke.

"Later on King Alfor had me as his right-hand woman to finally make his dream come true." You gave a soft smile remembering those times, but it soon fell remembering what came shortly after. "Everything was going well. The Lions were finished. Alfor and the rest of his group were able to form Voltron. I wasn't needed that much anymore so I decided to make my own Lion."

"The white lion." Answered Pidge. You nodded in her direction and continued.

"Yes, the White Lion. As I constructed her, the Paladins of Voltron were known as great heroes throughout the galaxy. But then came Zarkon's need for unlimited quintessence." You furrowed your eyebrows in anger.

"That's why I started forming The blade of Marmora. Of course, many people didn't like the idea but by the time the war began, I already had about fifty people that would support me. Alfor knew what was coming and he had something that could have changed the course of the whole war."

"What? What - What did he have??" Hunk asked impatiently. Everyone gave him a questioning look. "Sorry, I just got, really into the story." He said honestly.

"He had the coordinates to a very important place."

"And why did my father give something so important to you and not to me?" Allura asked in somewhat of a rude manner. You turned to look at her dead in the eyes.

"So you wouldn't have to go through everything I had to." You spat at her. Allura looked taken aback and the others were in shock at your bluntness.

"You say that you used to work with my father. That was over 1000 years ago, how are you alive?" She questioned.

"When your father saw that the war wasn't going to end well, he saved me by also putting me in a freezing pod. But I was hidden somewhere else."

You then looked over at Matt. "Then i was saved by a certain brown haired boy. By that time he had been saved from the Galra by Shiro and he took me to the blade base." You walked over to Matt.

"I was amazed, I never imagined someone else other than me this far out in space. So I decided to sick alongside him for some time since it was so long since I had any kind of communication with a human." You gave him a light shove.

"Wait, but why were you a kid when we found you?" Keith asked.

"Because the Galra found out I knew this 'special' information and they looked for me and captured me on one of my missions. They thought that if they searched through my memories, they would find them. After many painful sessions, I knew they were getting closer to getting the information, so I did the first stupid thing that came to mind." You took another deep breath.

"I wrote the coordinates down, hid them, and erased that memory." Everyone was utterly confused and shocked.

"How did you know how to do that without wiping out all your memory?" Keith asked, intrigued.

"I didn't. I hoped for the best and practically fried my brain. Although I think I did lose a few other memories." You unconsciously held a hand to the side of your head, remembering those painful times. "They didn't know what to do anymore since I erased that memory, so they came up with the next best thing, reverting me to the time i had that memory."

"But how would that help?" Lance asked, not really understanding where this was going.

"Those idiots thought that if they made me a bit younger, I would have the memory again. But they went too far back so they started making another weird pod thing to turn me back but in the meantime, they got frustrated with me and tortured me." You cloed your hands into fists. "So there you have it." You finally finished your story.

"Wait, and where are those coordinates that you wrote down?" Asked Shiro.

"Somewhere no one should know." You answered straightforwardly. Shiro could see that he wasn't going to get any more information out of you for now so he let it go.

"So now that we have that sorted out," You looked towards Kolivan. "I finally have possession of the White lion back, so you just make the plans with the others about how we're going to counter-attack Lotor. I'm gonna get some shut-eye. Allura?" You turned to look at her with a more calm expression. "Do you have any other clothes that aren't...tights?" You looked at the healing pod uniform and really didn't like things that hugged your body so closely.

"I'll see what I have." She said bluntly and exited the room. You didn't give a second glance back at the others as you left the room.

As you were walking down the hall Keith caught up to you. "Hey Y/n," He called out. You stopped in your tracks and turned to look at him.

"Yeah?"

"Are you... Are you still planning on leaving?" He asked somewhat awkwardly.

"Yeah."

"Why?" Keith asked not wanting you to leave so soon.

"Didn't you hear before? I'm their leader, I have responsibilities."

"But you're a part of Voltron. You're the White Paladin." Keith tried to convince you.

"I may be the White Paladin but I'm not a part of Voltron. You don't need the White Lion to form Voltron, it's more like an extra part. And I'm going to used her to fight with the Blade and the Rebel Fighters Keith." You turned you back to him but still felt somewhat guilty.

"I'm sorry." You said softly before walking away. Keith felt his hand twitch as if he wanted to reach out and stop you but for some reason he just couldn't.

You finally reached your room and when you entered, you noticed that there was a stack of clothes on you bed.

"Huh. Altean's are fast." You said to yourself.

You picked up the first piece of clothing and held it up. It was a long dress, it seemed like something you would wear to a ball. You put it back down and thankfully found some pants that looked similar to jeans and a f/c plain shirt. And to top it all off, there was a black jacket and black combat boots.

"Perfect."
