Episode 1- part one
[Third Person Pov | Stanford University | Present day]
"Sam, get a move on would ya?! We were supposed to be there like, fifteen minutes ago." Jessica called out as she put on her other earring. "Sam, are you coming?"
Sam's head popped out of the doorway, "Do I have to come?"
"Yes!" Jessica smiled, a laugh in her voice. "It'll be fun."
Sam smiled, walking into the room while looking at his girlfriend who was clad in a short, sparkly nurses outfit. Jessica walked towards him with a smile, her eye brow raising when she saw his attire, "And where's your costume?"
Sam let out a breath of air mixed with some sort of laugh, ducking his head briefly in amusement and disbelief. "You know how I feel about Halloween." He said to her, raising his brows.
-Mini time skip-
Music played in the background of the loud party. People in skimpy outfits danced around, most of them drunk out of their minds. Sam looked down at his glass, annoyed by the loud rap music around him as well as all the people.
"So here's to Sam and his awesome ELSAT victory." Jessica smile, raising her glass. "Alright, alright it's not that big a deal." Sam sighed, honestly not really wanting to be there. He hated Halloween. People dressing up as monsters, not that he could really blame them. They didn't know about the things in the world, the things lurking in the shadows.
"He acts all humble but he scored a 174." Jessica informed. "Mmm, is that good?" Their zombified friend asked, setting down his now empty shot glass. "Scary good." Jessica snorted lightly, downing her shot.
"You are a first-round draft pick, you can go to any law school you want." Sam looked at his friend as he placed a hand on his shoulder, smirking down at the blinking Winchester. "Actually I got an interview here, Monday." Sam announced. "If it goes okay I think I've a shot at a full ride next year."
"Hey, it's gonna go great." Jessica assured, nodding to Sam. Sam took in a breath of air, giving a small smile, "It better."
"How does it feel to be the golden boy in your family?" The zombified man, who was quite obviously the third wheel, butted into the situation. "Ah, they don't know." Sam admitted. "Oh, no, I would be gloating!" He exclaimed, grinning.
"Why not?"
"'Cause we're not exactly the Brady's." Sam said, smiling. "I'm not exactly the huxtables. More shots?" He asked, looking to Jessica. "No. No." Sam shook his head. "No." Jessica agreed. Shaking his head and grinning, the friend whirled around and began making his way to the bar.
Sam shook his head, turning around. Jessica smiled at him, putting her weight on the table, "Seriously, I'm proud of you; and you're gonna knock 'em dead Monday." Jessica said sincerely.
"You're gonna get that full ride, I know it." Jessica said. "What would I do without you?" Sam sighed, smiling. "Crash and burn." Jessica smiled, pulling Sam forward and capturing him in a kiss.
-Yet another time skip-
Sam and Jessica both lay in bed asleep, the covers loosely draped over their legs. Moonlight shone through the window, illuminating their sleeping forms. They had no idea someone was about to break into the house.
Sam's eyes snapped open, his breath hitching when he heard shuffling in the next room over. Sliding out of bed quickly, he stealthily made his way into the next room to investigate the noise. His heart pounded in his chest, and he actually hoped whoever was in his house was a human and not... something else.
Peeking around the corner, Sam's eyes narrowed when he spotted an open window. Wind whistled through it, letting any cold air in the house in. Sam's attention was told away from the window and towards the kitchen when he heard a noise.
Slowly, Sam began to creep towards the beaded curtain leading into the kitchen, not taking his eyes away from the entrance for even a second in fear someone or worse, something may jump out at him. Create ping forward, Sam suddenly shot towards the kitchen when a figure last the door.
Staying hidden, Sam jumped a bit at the cling of silverware. Sam felt his heart drop as the door next to him opened with a creak, a figure stepping out and walking past him without noticing him. Sam waited a second before attacking from behind.
Dean grunted slightly as the attack he'd been expecting came from behind. Turning around, he twisted his brother's arms back and away, sliding out of his grasp easily and slamming him into wall. Dean let out a short yell as Sam shiver him, sending him stumbling back.
Falling back into the next room over, the two brothers began to fight using fists. Punches were thrown left and right until Dean was finally able to grasp Sam's collar, flipping him onto his back.
"Whoa, easy tiger." Dean smirked down at his brother whom he'd successfully pinned down. "Dean?" Sam asked in shock and disbelief. Dean grinned, chuckling at Sam who was staring in shock. "You scared the crap outta me." Sam breathed, his hand still around Dean's wrist. "It's 'cause you're outta practice." Dean smirked.
Kneeling Dean in the stomach, Sam managed to flip him over so he was no longer pinned. Sam stared down at his brother, wondering what in earth he could be doing in his house. "Or not." Dean chuckled, still smiling despite having been kneed in the gut.
"Get offa me." Dean sighed, sitting up. Sam scooted back, standing up as Dean hopped to his feet. "What are you doing here?" Sam asked, finally getting to ask the question he wanted to answer to so badly. "Well, I was lookin' for a beer." Dean smirked.
"Sam?" The light was flicked on to reveal a confused and slightly startled Jessica. The pair both looked to the blonde girl who was clad in striped shorts and a grey crop top. "Jess, hey." Sam greeted, his eyes moving back to Dean who was staring at Jessica with wide eyes as he blinked owlishly.
"Dean, this is my girlfriend, Jessica." Sam revealed. "Wait. Your brother Dean?" Jessica questioned, blinking at him. "I love the smurfs." Dean smirked, referring to the print on Jessica's crop top. "You know, I gotta tell 'll you, you are completely outta my brothers league." Dean stepped forward, a smile on his face as he flirted.
"Let me put something on." Jessica said in a slightly awkward yet amused voice. "No, no, no, I wouldn't dream of it, seriously." Dean said, staring at her. Jessica averted her eyes to Sam awkwardly, her eyes swimming with question.
"Anyway, I gotta borrow your boyfriend here, talk about some private family business, but, uh, nice meeting you." Dean said with a small grin, awkwardness seeping into his tone as he remember his whole reason for coming here. "No." Sam said, turning to Dean before going to stand by his girlfriend. "No, whatever you want to say, you can say it in front of her."
"Okay." Dean said in a clipped tone.
"Umm, dad hasn't been home for a few days." He said after a moment of thought. "So he's working last on a "Miller time" shift. He'll stumble back in sooner or later." Sam said, not caring nor getting was Dean was really trying to say. He just wanted him out of his house.
Dean pursed his lips, looking down as he thought about how to word this. Finally he looked undecided, looking Sam in the eye. "Dad's on a hunting trip, and he hasn't been home in a few days." He re-words d, staring directly at Sam as if sunk in.
Sam could only state at Dean. "Jess, excuse us." Sam said courtly, not moving his eyes away from his brother.
-Skip-
"I mean, come in! You can't just break in during the middle of the night and expect me to hit the road with you." Sam scoffed. "You're not hearing me, Sammy. Dad's missing. I need you to help me find him." Dean said as he swiftly made his way down the stairs of Sam's apartment complex.
"Remember the poltergeist in Amherst? Or the devil's gates in Clifton? He was missing then to. He's always missing, and he's always fine." Sam said, frustration seeping into his tone. "Not for this long." Dean turned to face Sam. "Now, are you gonna come with me or not?"
-Elsewhere-
"Uncle Bobby, when will my daddy be back?"
Bobby looked down at the green eyes girl with a fond smile. "I'm sure he'll be around soon." He assured, ruffling the four year old's hair. She pouted, looking down, "but these never gone this long without calling."
Bobby felt sympathy well up inside him, "He'll be back soon, sugar cube. In the mean time, how would you like to learn about skin walkers and how to kill 'em?"
"Yay!"
Bobby smiled at the little girl as she scurried last him, her long brown hair fluttering behind her. Chuckling and shaking his head in amusement, he followed after the daughter of a man he saw as a son.

"So when dad left , why didn't you go with him?" Sam questioned as Dean dug through his weapon filled trunk. "I was working my own case. This voodoo thing down in New Orleans." Dean said. "Dad let you go on a hunting trip by yourself?" Sam asked in disbelief. "I'm 26 dude." Dean said, mentally adding 'and a father as well.'
"All right here we go. So dad was checking out this two-lane blacktop just outside of Jericho, California. About a month ago they'd found this guy. They found his car, but he'd vanished. Completely M.I.A." Dean said, handing Sam the missing poster for the guy.
"So, maybe he was kidnapped." Sam said, looking up at Dean. "Yeah, well, here's another one in April. Another one in December '04, '03, '98, '92-- ten of them over the past twenty years. All men, all same 5-mile stretch of road." Dean listed off, tucking the missing posters back into the back of the Impala.
"Started happening more and more, so dad went to go dig around." Dean sighed, "That was about three weeks ago. I hadn't heard from him since, which is bad enough, and then I get this voice mail yesterday."
Sam looked at Dean curiously as he pulled out one of the many phones he owned. Pressing a button, there was a beep before their father's distorted voice came through the speaker, "Dean, something is starting to happen. I think it's serious. I need to try to figure out what's going on."
The voice mail began to become indistinct, the speaker crackling. "Be very careful, Dean. We're all in danger." "John finished. Dean looked over to Sam, giving him the 'I told you so' look.
"You know there's EVP on that?" Sam looked to his brother. "Not bad, Sammy." Dean smirked, glad his brother heard it just as his daughter had. Honestly, Dean would be a little scared if Sam couldn't hear it but a four year old could.
"Kind of like riding a bike, isn't it?" Dean continued. Sam shook his head, sighing. "All right. I slowed the message down and ran it through a GoldWave, took out the hiss and this is what I got." Dean said, turning to Sam as he pressed the play button.
"I can never go home." It was a female whisper, a creepy one. Dean pressed the stop button as Sam looked from the tape recorder in Dean's hand to his face. "Never go home." Sam repeated, thinking it over. What could that possibly mean?
"You know, in almost two years, I've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing." Dean said after he closed the Impala's trunk. Sam sighed, looking away. "All right, I'll go." Sam said finally, turning to face his older, yet shorter brother.
"I'll help you find him, but I have to get back first thing Monday. Just wait here." Sam nodded, turning to go tell Jess. "What's first thing Monday?" Dean questioned, curious. "I have an interview." Sam said after taking a deep breath.
"What, a job interview? Skip it." Dean shrugged. "It's a law-school interview, and it's my whole future on a plate." Sam informed with a small glare. "Law school?" Dean questioned. "So we got a deal or not?" Sam asked, ignoring Dean's question.
Dean sighed, nodding.
