People kidnap fawns all the time thinking that they're 'rescuing them....

If a fawn's ears aren't curled (Dehydration) the fawn is fine. Touching the fawn gives it a scent (your scent) putting it in danger of predators...

And if it's traumatic enough the fawn will die no matter what, though the timing will differ... months, days, years... I forget the name of that deer specific trait~
