Take to the Skies

The meetings and adjustments continued on to the next day, with the adults watching over them from afar. There was nothing else they could do.

Only a few minutes were left until War Time, and all the students gathered at the assembly hall. Haruki stood on the podium.

"I am the commander of the World Allied Forces, Izumo Haruki. We will soon put our strategy into action. The fates of both the Second World and the real-world rests on this battle. This will be our final War Time. To protect the world, let's defeat Ezeldarm!"

The children all cheered. And soon,

"It is now the scheduled time. The Second World will now activate. All systems checked. War Time will begin in 180 seconds."

"So, Hannah's late after all..." Nikolai muttered. He went to the sixth platoon's mechanic. "Hey, Kageto. Do you mind me hitching a ride with you guys?"

"Hannah's not done yet?"

"If she was, she'd be here."

"Not done with what?" Vanessa cut into their conversation, Muraku and Mikhail with her.

"She told me how she'd be spending all of last night as well as today working on something to help us fight." The Russian boy explained. "She also did warn me that she could be late for War Time because of it, so since I don't have any other rides..."

"You can come along then." Muraku offered. "The craft carrier can hold a total of six after all."

"Thanks."

With that settled, they all headed for their respective stations.

"All units, tune into transmission channel 3." Haruki's voice came. "This will be the shared channel for the World Allied Forces. Ezeldarm's units are powerful. Remember to take them on in groups!"

"5... 4... 3... 2... 1... War Time, begin."

"All units under the World Allied Forces, deploy!"

It didn't take long for them all to arrive at their respective positions. And not too long after that, the giant aerial base came clear into view. Immediately when it came to a stop right outside the crater, the ground troops began their attack.

"Surrender now, Ezeldarm!" Andrei's voice echoed out. "If you continue to resist us, we of the World Allied Forces will exert all of our efforts to expel you outsiders!"

As if to respond, LBXs jetted out of the base. Ezeldarm was out numbered, but they have power on their side.

Above the clouds, Jenock and Harness were executing their side of the plan.

"The enemy has begun deploying its forces!" Catherine informed.

"Roger!" Haruki responded. "Begin carrying out the ambush!"

"Roger!"

Nine craft carries lunged towards their target, five from Jenock, four from Harness. One they were all directly above the aerial base, Haruki's voice rang through their communication lines once again.

"Descend!"

At that moment, the base's defenses began shooting at them.

"Disperse! Focus on landing on the aerial base!"

"Roger!"

They managed to do so without casualties.

"Landing successful!" Rikuya confirmed.

When more Ezeldarm units appeared before them, noticing only five kept their colors as when they were known as Bandit, Haruki gave his order. "All units! While destroying the enemy LBX, move towards the central motor system! We'll stop Seredy's ambitions here!"

"Roger!"

"How foolish of you to dare board the Dol Garuda." A voice came from one caliper unit, who began shooting at them.

Another one was shooting from the sky, but it hopped off its flying saucer with a different weapon in hand.

"I've been yearning to see you, Houjou Muraku."

Vanessa's surprise was clear in her tone. "That's..."

"The Belial Edge!" Mikhail finished for her.

Nikolai clicked his tongue. "That's the one who did Wataru in!"

Magna Orthus advanced towards it, pulling out its own blade. "Don't get involved, you three. I'll defeat them!"

Magna Orthus and the Caliper unit clashed for only a short while. It was clear that the former had the upper hand in close ranged combat. Its Magnus Blade was larger, and he could use the Magnus Shield for offense with the two claws at its top.

Caliper flipped back to regain its balance, but blaster shots from the sky limited her rest time.

"What?!"

They all looked up and found a navy blue LBX with white wings. What surprised them was the Jenock emblem on its side.

"Who is...?" Just as Nikolai was about to ask, a call came. When he answered, a familiar brunette appeared on screen. "Wha... Hannah?! You're in a control pod?!"

"Mmhm."

"So, this was your plan? Becoming a soldier?"

"How else was I supposed to get revenge for Wataru?" Though it was a question, her tone made it clear to them she didn't want an answer.

"And your LBX is..."

This time, her voice was smug. "Like it? Meet Dreamer Knight, or D. Knight for short."

His eyes went wide at that. "Dreamer?! As in Ev―"

"We can continue this later." D. Knight continued to shoot at Caliper with its blasters.

"Glad to have you join us, Hannah." Muraku's voice came. However, the response he got was glare and a warning shot near Magna Orthus' feet. He jumped back. "Wha..."

"That's for forgetting about me."

"S-Sorry..." Letting out a small sigh, he smiled at the brunette. "But I really am glad that you're fighting alongside us."

Hannah returned it with a small smile of her own. "I'm honored to be fighting by my brother's idol's side."

"Focus, you two!" Nikolai warned.

The Caliper unit had flipped back on to its flying saucer. It then grabbed a cluster of grenades and threw it around its opponents.

"Muraku!"

"Hannah!"

The explosions created a smoke screen and one could just barely see where the two are.

Caliper jumped down and ran straight into the smoke with its blade ready to strike, "Got you!", but its arm was grabbed on to before it could. "What?!"

"Childish tricks like those won't work on me!" The smoke cleared to show Magna Orthus twisting Caliper's arm. "I'll be taking my Belial Edge back!"

Muraku used his old weapon to slash Caliper's mid-section as D. Knight flew up and shot at it until its ammo was half way done. Their enemy exploded into nothing.

"We did it, Wataru."

"Let's press forward." Hannah suggested, earning nods.

D. Knight was jabbed playfully by Moskau. "Hey, don't get too comfy now. I'm still platoon leader."

She smiled a little. "Whatever you say, Niko-kun."

He rolled his eyes. "Alright. Let's go!"

"Roger!"

They headed for the dome at the center of the base, but were soon distracted by another new ally. It shot a laser down at Gruxeon, who was fighting with Dot Blastrizer in its Ragnarok Phase. It seems to be a support unit built especially for the latter. Hannah heard Sakuya and Takeru mentioned its name the night before. Dot Phoenix.

"Want one?"

Her question made the Russian boy turned to her with a glare. "No way! I'll prove mine's the better Blastrizer without any fancy modes or extra installments!"

She smiled at that. "I won't doubt that for a second."

"Looks like you're having a hard time there." Seredy's voice joined them.

Another blue, but this time familiar, LBX appeared out of thin air. It was the one that shot Muraku and Arata down at the Gigant Wall, and...

"The one that destroyed Wataru's unit..."

The Russian boy sensed the wrath hidden underneath those words. "Hannah. No."

"Niko―"

"You know you're not a match for it on your own, so stand down." He cut off. "That's an order."

She didn't want to admit it. Not here, not now that they were this far in already. But she also knew the facts, and the way the mysterious LBX betrayed and took down Gruxeon so easily made a chill run down her spine. She obeyed, and right at that moment, Haruki gave his orders to head for the central motor system of the aerial base while he and Hikaru aid Arata.

Placing a hand on D. Knight's shoulder, Magna Orthus headed for the same fight. "Leave it to us."

"You're also..." Hannah's eyes narrowed. "... Fine. Make sure you don't hold back."

"I never do." The purple LBX kicked off the ground to join the other three.

They all headed for the entrance, but not a single one of them had gone in before a large explosion occurred. Dot Blastrizer, now combined with Dot Phoenix to become Dot Blastrizer G-Ext, had released a powerful attack function called Sintou Kamui. An energy beam destroyed a good half of the aerial base.

Haruki called for a retreat and they all hurried to their respective craft carriers, most of them sitting on top of the vehicle, while those with flight capabilities flew alongside them. Form the sky, Hannah was also able to see their forces on the ground running away from the falling base. A few seconds after that, the whole thing blew apart.

It was their win, but while there were some who were able to smile, they also knew that it wasn't a perfect victory. They couldn't retrieve the Parasite Keys.
