Future Hope
The next morning, they were woken up by the sudden notice of the adults finding Future Hope. They went over the plan and, once the tanker came into view, they all ran into their control pods. All but Kazu used riding saucers as a means to battle in the sky. Soon enough, they were able to take out the enemy LBXs and landed the Duck Shuttle on the ship's deck.
They gathered outside and Takuya explained the next phase. "While Otacross was investigating the inside of the ship, he found two locations where all the information in the ship was focused."
Hiro blinked. "There's the bridge and one more place..."
"What in the world is that room?" Ban asked.
Otacross' face appeared on screen. "It wasn't in the blueprints from before. One of these two must be Paradise' control center."
"So one of them is our goal..." Ran muttered.
"Let's split into two groups." The professor suggested. "Cobra and I both have maps, so we'll be the leaders. Ban, you'll be with me. Kazu, Ran, Jessica and Ami too."
"So Hiro, Jin, Yuuya and Asuka are in my team." Cobra reconfirmed. "Alright, let's go!"
Eva blinked. "Wait, I want to come too."
"No one asked you to."
Her eyes widened, but before she could respond, Jin cut in. "It's fine, isn't it? We might need all the help we could get." The man merely clicked his tongue and turned away.
She sighed, a small frown still present on her face. "Thanks..." He gave a nod in return.
They opened a hatch and began their decent, into the tanker. The professor led the way, and soon, they came across a door. He opened it cautiously, looking out for enemies. What he found instead, was a large hangar.
"This is..."
"What is this?" Hiro asked as they all walked in.
By the edge of the rails, they were able to see strange devices being kept below them. Cobra was first to realize what they were. "These are missiles."
Jessica's eyes widened. "Why are there missiles here?"
"This must be a warship disguised as a tanker." Jin stated, walking up beside her.
Eva blinked before noticing a glint in the corner and lunging forth. "Watch out!" She managed to pull them both away from the rails, where tiny bullets rained down on.
The professor reacted quickly. "It's the enemy! Hide!"
They all ran for cover. Some hid back by the stairs while others got between the walls. Hiro grit his teeth as they watched more LBXs spawning from around them. "There're a lot of them."
Jin peeked out from his position behind the door. "They're trying to keep us from the control center, no matter what."
"I can't sit still like this." Ran muttered.
Hiro's eyes widened as she ran in. "Ran!"
"Minerva!" She called out her LBX and began to attack. "I'll hold them back here!"
"Let's go, Vampire Cat!"
"Jeanne D!"
Both Asuka and Jessica joined in to help her.
"Ran!"
She turned back to Hiro. "Go without us!"
"We'll catch up when we're done!" Jessica added.
Asuka blinked. "But won't we get lost without a map?"
"I memorized it earlier."
"Seriously? That's awesome!"
Ran kept her gaze on the blue haired boy. "Don't worry. We work pretty well, you know."
At this, Eva sent a smile to Ami. "Looks like each girl will go with a group."
"Well, someone has to watch over the boys." The other girl winked teasingly.

Soon, they made it to the hallway where they'd separate into their designated groups. Ban's group took an elevator to the bridge while Hiro's continued to run through the corridors, with slight complains from Cobra for not getting to lead like he should.
They proceeded through the hallways, noting how their surroundings had changed. At first it was just an empty hallway, but as they got closer to their destination, the area started becoming a lot more crowded with machines.
"There're cables everywhere..." Hiro muttered.
"This is where the information lines are focused, after all." Yuuya replied. "We're almost there."
Jin, being ahead of the group, spotted light and ran towards it. He stopped in front of a door, labeled with a sign saying to keep out. "It must be this room."
"This storage room is gigantic..." Yuuya muttered, his eyes wandering.
Eva analyzed the trail of wires. "All the frames lead to the inside of this room."
Cobra clicked his tongue. "Which means that this is Paradise's control center?"
Without second thoughts, Jin headed for the door. "We're going in." He pressed on a button and entered as soon as it opened.
"This is the control center?" The long haired boy could barely believe his eyes. The room was a complete mess, no better than the cables sprawled on the floor back in the hallway.
Jin turned to where light was coming from. "Someone's here." They found a blue haired woman working on a console. Two strange devices were floating above her, seeming to be under repair. "What's that...?"
Eva blinked. Once. Twice. Her vision seemed to glitch before returning to normal. She inhaled sharply. Of all the times... Don't do this now! She bit her lip, trying to get her head back under control.
"Hey, you!" Cobra called out to the woman.
However, she didn't bother looking back as she replied. "If you're talking about lunch, just leave it there. My hands are full now."
"No, that's not it."
The woman stood up and turned to him in frustration. "I said I was busy!" Then, it was immediately replaced by confusion. "Who are you? Don't enter without permission."
"We're NICS's-"
"Mom." Jin's explanation was cut off by an unexpected call from the blue haired boy.
"Hiro?" The woman fixed the position of her glasses before continuing. "Hiro, What are you doing here?"
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
"What do you think? I'm working."
"Working? This is Omega Dain's ship!"
"Yes, and so?"
"You knew? But... I tried calling you over and over, but you were just doing this..." At his saddened face, the woman became confused.
Jin took a turn in the conversation. "What are you working on?"
"I'm making the final modifications to my creation, Adam and Eve, humankind's most advanced computers."
"This wasn't Paradise's control center?" Yuuya asked.
"The control center is up in the bridge." They didn't expect her to answer so easily. "This is my laboratory, where I can maintain Paradise's Adam and Eve from the ground."
"What are Adam and Eve?" Jin continued, encouraging her to give them more answers.
"By combining the different thought processes of a male AI and a female AI, I've created the ultimate computer with a superior intelligence program than that of any other. That is Adam and Eve."
"So Omega Dain wanted to use this computer to control LBXs?" Jin summarized.
"With that, then they could control the weapons on Paradise, too." Yuuya added.
"Mom, that's not good!" Hiro called. "Paradise isn't a communication's satellite, it's a spatial military base loaded with missiles and laser weapons!"
"So what? I already know that."
"Mom...?" He was taken aback by her bluntness for a moment, before regaining his composure. "If you knew that Paradise was a spatial military base, then why?!"
"That has nothing to do with my research. If I can complete Adam and Eve, then it will bring unfathomable blessings to mankind. This computer will help evolve man!"
"It doesn't matter how great your computer is if people use it for wrongdoing!"
"A scientist's job is to create the advanced. How it's used has nothing to do with me."
Eva held her hand up to the side of her head. Something about this woman was familiar to her, she was sure of it. And something about the two AIs made her shiver. Not because of their purpose, or creator, but the contents within. It felt as if it was a part of her being created.
"That's wrong! You're not supposed to create something that endangers the world! Mom, stop what you're doing, and leave this place with us!"
"Hiro, I'm a scientist." She insisted.
The boy clenched his fists. "Mom... Mom, you're not a scientist at all!"
It went dead silent afterwards. The woman continued to stare at him as he looked down at his feet, unable to believe he was able to shout in front of his own mother. Jin's gaze turned from him to a picture frame on a separate desk. The photo was enough indication to show she still cares about her son.
"Get out, Hiro. I won't leave." She went back to her seat and continued to work on the console.
"Hiro..." Yuuya wanted to comfort him, but the boy cut him off.
"Let's go to Paradise's control center, at the bridge."
They left the room one by one. Eva, being behind the group, cast one last glance at the two AIs, before catching up. In that instant, the headache left.
