Time for training
The birds sang their lovely songs and the sun rose from the ground. Soren woke up early to catch some tasty fish. He stretched his front legs and then his back ones. His cat tail was up in the air ready for another day.
Soren padded his way to the river and sat on a cold, grey boulder that was a perfect fishing spot. He extended his claw and quickly caught a fish. He picked it up with his tiny teeth and took it to the cave. Soren finished eating the fish and yawned. What a beautiful day to train to please Neros! Soren thought.
Suddenly, a sleepy Kin panda slowly walked out of the cave. "Good morning, Soren," she yawned, "What will we do today?"
Soren giggled at Kin's sleepy state. "We will be training!" Soren chimed, licking his calico fur.
Kin grunted. "I wanted to play not train," Kin protested.
"No can do! You need the training. You're so defenseless," Soren explained.
Kin grunted, again. "Alright! I'm off to get myself some bamboo. I will bring some bamboo for my storage, too," Kin said, walking into the dense brush.
At the same moment, Jenny bounced into the clearing. "Hello!" Jenny greeted Soren, "I'm excited to be training today!"
"I'm glad to ear that, now go get some breakfast," Soren replied.
Jenny jumped into the forest in search of fruit. Neros slowly emerged from the cave with a frown on his face. Soren sat down and rapped his long tail around himself. Neros sniffed at the ground then grunted. "They were watching," Neros muttered under his breath.
Soren sighed. Neros walked toward the river, but turned around. "Soren, I'm off to get real meat. Keep an eye on the others... and please don't do anything stupid," Neros said turning toward the woods.
Soren smiled. Perfect! Now I have some time to train with the others! he thought.
Kin came back a few minutes later. She held 5 braches of bamboo in her mouth. "This sticks know how to put up a fight," Kin giggled.
Soren laughed as Jenny came back with a tail full of bananas. "I love bananas!" Jenny exclaimed.
"Are we ready now?" Soren asked.
"Yes!" Kin and Jenny said at the same time.
Soren slowly walked toward Kin and sat beside her. He took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Kin did the same. "Kin, I want you to imagine something that makes you happy. Close your eyes and imagine," Soren said.
Kin closed her eyes and imagined her mom, dad, and little sister happily staring at her. Soren stood up and faced Kin. "Now, imagine that whatever makes you happy just disappeared, vanished."
Kin shivered. She had already lost what made her happy. A huge, mean hunter had speared her mother and the family scattered. Her little sister ran south, her dad ran west, and she ran north. Her family is now no more. Tears ran down her black and white fur. Soren saw this, but just nodded. "Kin memories are acceptable. Let me ask you a question... Do you want your family back? Do you want to know how to find them?" Soren asked, one of his paws stroking her head. Kin nodded.
"All you have to do is become strong," Soren said walking away, btu toward Jenny.
Jenny was jumping up and down throwing punches to the air. Soren laughed. "Jenny do you want to beat those wolves up and size them up?" Soren asked.
"Yes, very much!" Jenny exclaimed, looking into Soren's green eyes.
"Then strength is not on your side. Use that brain you have and out smart the dumb," Soren giggled.
"Yes, sir!" Jenny said, giving Soren a soldiers salute.
As the days passed, Kin practiced her strength by scratching at trees, swimming the opposite way of the current in the river, and climbing trees that were spiny. Jenny worked on her smarts; she created vine traps, coconut bombs, and banana launchers. Soren worked on stealth; he told himself that if I have stealth then I can out run and survive different situations. Soren caught fish for balance, he jumped on rocks, and dodged trees. During these days of training, Neros always was out and about. No one really knew what he was up to, but what he claimed to be doing was hunting meat.
