Stars

Look up at the sky. See the moon? The spotlight so bright it makes everything else seem dull? Now forget it. You don't need it.

Now look to the left. Right. Up, down, back and forth until your neck aches and you're tired of staring. See those lights? See the tiny pricks hiding behind the shine of the moon? That's us.

Stars are always shining. Even during the day, when the sun covers their rays in eye-aching blue. Even when no one cares to look up, too caught up in the news or their friend's new post. Even on a full moon, when all the people below can do is stare up and wonder if werewolves will attack, or how long they can make a perfect night last--they shine even when they know it's no use.

And yet, on a new moon, when the spotlight is too afraid to shine? That's when they're the brightest. That's when they make you look out your window, breathe in awe and wonder how you could've possibly missed them all this time.

We're all stars. We just need a chance to shine.
