"Unnecessary feelings"

3rd Person POV

It was just another boring day for Phoenix Wright. Because apparently getting dragged around by the person he sees as an imoutou, because she wanted some burgers, is normal for him.

"Come on, Naruhodo-kunnnn! The stall's gonna close any minute now!" Maya screamed at the poor attorney.

'I definitely did not sign up for this.'

They ended up reaching the stand last minute. Also, the owner of the stand took a liking to Maya and started to give her free burgers everyday she came. He always keeps some in stock, completely aware of the other starving children watching.

Definitely not a creep-*cOUGH*

They got to the stand, got Maya's burger(s), and started to walk around.

They walked around aimlessly, not seeming to have a destination. Maya continues to cHOMp, not giving a single care for the world around her. She always looked so relaxed and happy, Phoenix was jealous. As they continued to walk around, Maya got tired and they decided to sit down at the nearby park. Without breaking their legs.

"Ne, Naruhodo-kun?" Maya tried to start up a conversation.

"H-" Pheonix begin to say something but was so rudely interupted by good old-

"NARUHODOOOOOOO-" Larry rudely interrupted.

Timeskip to 3 seconds later

Larry was set off to fly in nothing but space by none other than Naruhodo himself. Oh, and his eyes were glowing like a star too cuz wHY NOT-

Maya was freaked out, but she continued to cHOMP. She was honestly considering on not bothering Phoenix for burgers for a week or two.

But nah.

As they watch Larry flying to who-knows-where, they started to walk again. Phoenix let out a little sigh, before looking at Maya.

"So, what were you gonna ask me?" He asked with one of his usual smiles on his face. It's a little scary how he can smile like that like nothing ever happened. That was something that Maya admired about him.

"W-well, uhh...."

'Shoot, I forgot- Think of a question, Maya! And quick!'

"Hmm?" Phoenix raised a (spiky) brow as Maya continued to chOmp her way into her memory.

"Well, loOK! IT'S MR. EDGEWORTH" Maya panicked out as she pointed at a random tree in the distance. Hella panicked, she ran away silently and hid in a bush when Phoenix looked away.

Phoenix looked at where Maya pointed at a second ago, super confused. As suspected, he wasn't there. Letting out a sigh, no idea if it's supposed the be filled with relief or dissapointment, it remains a mystery.

"Okay, that got me- ....Maya?" Phoenix said as he turned around to see absolutely nothing but air in Maya's place.

"Maya, I'm just gonna leave you here if you don't show yourself."

...

"Well, suit yourself." As he turned around, he realises that he was walking next to a playground. A very familiar one. Yet, he couldn't pinpoint what it was that was so familiar to him. He looked around the playground, hoping to get some hints. His eyes landed on the swing, only for flashbacks to come into his mind.

He could see his younger selves on that very same swing, thinking and enjoying the given silence of nature. Sometimes alone, sometimes with company. He smiled to himself a little, before looking around for Maya, a little worried.

"Naruhodo-kun? What were you smiling at?" Maya asked as she somehow appeared behind the poor dude.

The dude ended turning around so fast, he was about to fall on his....you know.

That is...until...

...

"Be more careful, will you?" The person who caught Phoenix said as they put him back on his feet.

'That voice....!'

Phoenix turned around to see none other than his childhood friend, Miles Edgeworth. With a book in his hand.

"When did you...."

"Ehh?! When did you get over here, Mr. Edgeworth?!" Maya questions, as she chomps the last piece of her burger. Therefore, she's out of burgers. So she pays attention to the two men in front of her.

"Doesn't matter." Edgeworth says as he eyes what Phoenix was wearing.

(Did I mention that Phoenix was wearing his Feenie sweater?)

He puts his book away, and looks at Phoenix and Maya, with his usual straight face.

"..."

"..."

"..."

Edgeworth turned to walk away to continue his aimless stroll, only to be stopped by Feenie, who placed a hand on his shoulder.

"H-hold it...!" Phoenix called out, not wanting Edgeworth to go just yet.

"...." Edgeworth turns around, eyebrow raised.

"This isn't court, you know?"

"Yeah, but...."

"But?"

"Maybe, just maybe....can we hang out a little? I mean, we haven't seen each other in months! I kinda miss seeing that gorgeous face of yours." Phoenix rambled, playing with his fingers.

Meanwhile, Maya does an imaginary facepalm.

"W-what?" Edgeworth managed to say, while he gets a little flustered.

"W-what I meant was, let's hang out?" He makes his usual nervous laughter, only extra nervous this time.

Edgeworth stares at him for a few seconds, before giving him a slight nod.

'YAY!' Phoenix cheered deep inside. While Maya is busy getting ideas.

Then, they started walking around. Edgeworth keeps his chill like usual, Phoenix resisting the urge to do something evil, Maya planning on how to make them bond.

Her eyes starts shining when she finds an idea on how to get them both just a little flustered. She smoothly goes behind both of them, not that the men doesn't notice. She grabs Phoenix's arm, though making him confused, she puts it around Edgeworth's neck. And then she walks in front of them like she totally didn't just did that.

The two lovebirds got a whole lot more flustered, and just stared at Maya as they continued to walk. However, Phoenix didn't pull his hand back. Maya considers this as a win-win, and holds a party inside her head.

"So, Mr. Edgeworth? You don't mind spending time with us, right?" Maya asked innocently. Also smiling, very innocently.

"I g-guess I don't mind...." Edgeworth cursed himself for that stutter. Maya cheered on the inside even louder at his stutter.

'He's stuttering? At this? Ohoho, I can't wait until I bring out my trump card.'

Maya spots a bench in the distance, and gets yet another idea. She grabs and pulls Phoenix by his scarf and Edgeworth by his arm towards that bench. When they reached that bench, Maya wiped the seats a bit, before forcefully making Phoenix and Edgeworth sit down. It was a wide bench, so they had some space. They both looked at Maya in confusion. Maya excused herself and went somewhere to make a call, leaving the two lovebirds alone, and goes to a distance where she knows they wouldn't hear her.

Beep

Beep

Be-

"Hello?" A voice said.

"Ah, hey Pearls!" Maya said, cheerfully.

"Hi, Mystic Maya! How are you?" Pearl seems to be excited.

"Yeah, I'm fine!"

"Naruhodo-kun didn't make you sad, right?!"

"N-no, no! Actually, I need your help right now! Can you help?"

"Umm...well, I guess. I have nothing to do."

"Yay! Where are you right now? You're in town, right?" Maya starts to do a little victory dance.

"Yeah, I am! I'm at the playground right now, but no one is here to play with." Pearl says, yet adorably.

"Okay, stay there. I'll go pick you up!" Maya says as she runs off the the playground to do, as you know, pick Pearl up.

With NaruMitsu

Edgeworth's burrying his face into his book, not actually reading it. He wasn't really interested in reading the book in the moment. He couldn't. Not when the love of his life is inches away.

Meanwhile, Phoenix is just flustered. Not knowing what to do. So he just stares at the ground in front of him, playing with his red scarf a little.

None of them had enough courage to start up a conversation

"W-what're you reading about?" Phoenix asked, finally having enough courage to say something.

"The rise of Trust, isn't it obvious?"

'Actually, it isn't. It really isn't.' Phoenix sweatdropped to himself

...

"So-" They both said at the same time. Freezing as they said that, and began to stare at each other in disbelief. Their faces grew redder each second, they look away from each other. Edgeworth with a smol glare, and Feenie with a nervous look.

They slowly, but surely, calmed down and talked to each other about stuff, catching up to news.

And then, Maya came back. This time, with Pearl. NaruMitsu still hasen't noticed them yet, being too deep into their conversation. As soon as Pearl lays eyes on them, her eyes glimmered with interest.

'That closeness, the way they talk to each other, that look of pure love in their eyes....!'

But, being the kid she is, she accidentally screams her thoughts out loud.

Phoenix and Edgeworth both snapped their heads towards the source of fangirling. And they got flustered again. Phoenix a little more than Edgeworth, because he knows what happens when Pearl starts shipping two people.

"I-it's not...." Phoenix tried to talk to Pearl, but he couldn't find anything to say. Edgeworth is dead silent. Pearl continues to say romantic stuff out loud. Maya's secretly fangirling also.

"M-Maya, why is Pearl here?"

"Oh, uhh...She was at the playground earlier, she had no one to play with, s-so...." Maya laughs nervously, afraid that Phoenix would punch her into the sky just like how he did to Larry earlier.

...

Some winds blows by, making stuff flow.

...

Pearl still has hearts flowing everywhere.

...

NaruMitsu still as flustered as ever.

...

Silence and awkwardness intensifies.

...

Maya grabbed Pearl, and ran away from NaruMitsu's point of view, while Pearl was still daydreaming and fangirling about her new ship. Leaving Phoenix and Edgeworth alone, once again.

They both looked at each other, emotions unreadable. They sat there, admiring each other without even knowing it. Unconsciously, they looked away, not processing what they did a few seconds ago.

Of course, Maya and Pearl wouldn't leave them alone just like that. They were both hiding behind the nearby tree, hoping that one of them would make a move. They waited there, for a loooonng time.

...

It has been 10 minutes. The girls are getting more impatient every second that passes.

...

10 more minutes passes.

'They have been staring at each other for about 20 minutes now. JUST KISS ALREADY, DAMMIT.' Maya thought as she was on the verge of snapping.

'Oh that's it.'

She got out of her hiding spot quietly, with her phone in hand, ready to take a picture. She slowly walked behind that bench, and got her hands and legs ready. She took a deep breath.

She grabbed their heads, and slammed them onto each other, gently, of course. Causing them to kiss. She took a picture and made a run for it. She took Pearl with her and ran with all her might.

Phoenix and Edgeworth pulled away seconds after that contact and stared at each other, with faces oh-so-red. They stared at the ground  for a another minute, processing what just happened.

...

Then, they looked at each other with a smile on their faces, leaned in, and kissed again. This kiss was for real, this time.
