"Never before have I seen someone fail to die..."

    Everything was dark.

I was trapped inside my mind.

Fé P.o.v
Silence, and only myself to blame.

All I could feel was misery. I had hurt my friends, and I was starting to hate myself more and more every second they were gone. I had been let out of the arena, thank God. Atticus had congratulated me when I walked out. He lead me to a room that was much more relaxed than the first one. But it didn't help to settle my restlessness. Atticus stayed with me, so I talked to him, trying to get my mind off of what I had done.

"You called me Alex. Is that my name?" I asked.

"Yes, it is your name. Why do you ask? I thought you knew it." He then said.

"Sorry. I was just a little shaken by the fights and all."

"It's fine."

I sat in silence after that, contemplating what may have caused me to feel as if I wouldn't actually hurt my friends, and why I thought I had sensed them not being dead. I started to doubt myself, thinking it was all just absurd and I had made an irreversible decision. Of course that all changed when someone walked in, clearly startled, and maybe even a bit scared.

"Lady Aurelius, I'm afraid we have a slight problem." He spoke, rushing his words.

"Define 'slight'" Atticus said before I could speak.

"The three killed earlier? They're alive." He said.

Cutting Atticus off before he could say much, I said,

"Bring them in. I have to see this myself."

The man nodded and rushed out of the room and down a corridor. A moment or so later, he reentered the room, accompanied by three other people, that I recognized as my companions.

"Never before have I seen someone fail to die..." Atticus said shocked.

After the three of them followed a hand full of guards, and only then did I realize that my friends were bound with chains.

"Unshackle them." I demanded, the guards doing as I said. "Now leave." I finished

"Miss Aurelius, are you—" I then cut him off by saying,

"Did I stutter?"

The guards then left, along with Atticus. As soon as they were all out of earshot, Fé surged towards me, and slapped me, proceeding by shoving me into the wall. She was flanked by Julian and Alec, who looked only slightly less enraged.

"What the HELL were you thinking?!" She yelled.

"I actually try not to think. It interferes with being crazy," I then responded.

Fé appeared to have been taken aback by my sarcastic remark. Then, recovering from her momentary shock, she proceeded to interrogate me.

"Why aren't I dead? Why are we all alive? No sarcastic replies this time." She said.

"Perhaps a more comfortable position would speed up the answering process." I started in. "Or maybe not. You do you."

Anger flashed in her eyes. I was beginning to think I shouldn't have pushed her more, but I still wasn't going to back down. After a moment of hesitation and what looked to be careful consideration, she let off.

"Fine. Sit and explain yourself." She finally told me.

I then walked over to the one of the Grecian couches, and sat down gesturing them to follow. They reluctantly followed and sat.

"So, first of all, if you haven't noticed already, we're in Ancient Rome" I began to say, looking at each of their faces to see what they thought. They looked as if it was a given. "Second, you didn't die even for a second. Third, I somehow I felt as if I just focused on not actually hurting you, you wouldn't get hurt. Kinda as if it was just an illusion. When it appeared you were dead, I knew you weren't." I then finished, thinking I sounded like a total nut case.

Fé P.o.v

She sounded absurd. On top of sounding absurd, she had the nerve to be sarcastic at first. I had woken up after her slitting my throat, with blood staining my neck and armor. How could she not have hurt me, and knew she wouldn't, but yet still create the illusion that she had? I didn't know, and quite frankly I didn't want to know, I just wanted her to keep it up. What I did want to know however, was how her lightning hadn't hurt me, along with how I had formed a fire ball and thrown it at her... ugh. I don't really want to think about it. I feel like my head is starting to hurt from all of it. It all seemed like nonsense, but I knew it wasn't. I was then torn away from my thoughts when I heard Reese began to speak.

"Ummmmm..... Please allow me to clean you all up. I'll have Atticus bring you all fresh clothes, and allow you to bathe." She said, sounding as if she was passive aggressively trying apologize for what happened.

She proceeded to make her exit, calling for Atticus. After a quick moment or so, she returned Atticus at her heals, of whom was carrying a stack of clothes.

"All of you, please come with me." He said, before turning to walk out the door.

We followed him, and while he was guiding us, I couldn't help but admire the mosaics that we passed, along with the occasional frieze. Eventually, we arrived at one door, where Atticus handed the boys each a set of clothes, signaling for them to go in. Once they did, Atticus lead us to a separate corridor, then stopping to hand us each a set of clothes as well.

"Lady Aurelius, there are also other clothes in a chest if you would prefer different."

"These will do fine," she said simply.

She then dismissed Atticus and gestured for me to enter the room. I was honestly shocked at how down to earth she was. Most people, when given the title of lady or something and are treated with such respect as she was now, they abused it, acting as if they were above everyone else. She however, acted as if nothing had changed; as if just an hour ago we weren't trying to kill each other. I entered the room, and couldn't help but take in the style. There were Grecian couches, a bed, a bathroom and fruit displayed on a table.

"You should wash up first," Reese said politely.

Not wanting to argue, I nodded and walked into the bathroom. I sometimes forgot that ancient Roman people had indoor plumbing. So, I was surprised to see a round bathtub, with a strigil and a block of soap, accompanied by a odd, but functioning toilet. Also, I was surprised to find that the water in the bath was heated. Deciding to ask Reese how the bath was filled and how the water was heated, I made a mental note to pay more attention in history class. As I emerged myself in the water, I then realized I hadn't been attending any of my classes since coming here. It was nice not having to, but strangely enough I found myself missing it.
