"How dare you"
Reese P.o.v
As soon as Fé returned from the bath, I walked in after. Instead of using the strigil, I chose to just go with the soap that was provided. It was nice enough I suppose, but I still wasn't completely psyched on the whole idea of being here. I put on the clothes that Atticus had provided me with, the standard ones. Though everyone here seemed to treat me with respect and all that, I didn't feel like I deserved any better than my friends. Nothing I did was any better than what they did, we were equals. The clothes were simple linen. Not exactly my style, for I prefer either black, or something neon and glittery. They kinda felt like pajamas, real floppy like, in other words they would suffice. When I re-emerged from the bathroom, it seemed Fé had made herself at home, sitting on a Grecian couch. I sat across from her, and she spoke.
"Wouldn't you prefer better?" She asked, gesturing to my attire.
"No."
"Why not? You have been given all of this respect, and yet you are still okay dressing equally to everyone else?"
I shrugged. "Yeah, I'm still okay with dressing like everyone else. It's not like I did something super spectacular or anything."
To that reply, Fé seemed surprised. "But you did do something spectacular. You made it appear as if you killed me, and the other two. So yes, you kinda do deserve better."
Okay, I was honestly getting fed up with her putting herself down, and convincing herself that I deserved better, because I didn't deserve better. I inhaled deeply, preparing for my lecture-like statement that was to come.
"Yeah, perhaps I created the illusion that I had killed you and the other two, but you guys were the ones who actually made the plan work. If you had believed you were dead, you would have been dead. If you guys had fought back harder, my plan wouldn't have worked. So, in the end, you deserve just as much credit as I do, because had you guys acted differently, it might not have worked out as it did. Stop saying that I deserve better, when I really don't. If anyone deserves better, it's you, Julian, and Alec, because without you nothing would have went right. I am not going to put any of you down, or act as if I'm on top of the world, and leave you guys here feeling worthless. No, just no. I am always going to be equals with my friends, no matter what happens."
Now, the expression on Fé's face was absolutely unreadable. She seemed kinda shocked, but almost amused with a hint of pleasure thrown into the mix. At that point I wasn't quite sure what her reaction was going to be, so naturally I was surprised when she said,
"How dare you."
"Pardon?" I was confused as to why she would say that.
"How dare you dare me to dare fall in love with you." The words left her mouth as she got up from her seat and walked towards me.
Soon she stood in front of me, a smiled played on her lips.
"So did you dare to fall in love with me?" I asked her, a smile soon playing onto my lips.
"Yes. I. Did." After that she made an exit probably to find the others.
