Pavement

Most nights I go back out to gaze at the stars like I did that one night at the beach. It was just a couple weeks ago. I went right outside the cabin and laid on the pavement, watching the starry sky streaked with shooting stars. The kids there marveled over the littlest streaks of light, not knowing what it was like to see a sky like this. The city drains out the stars. It's light shouts too loudly and leaves the stars unnoticed. How could so many people never know of a night sky like this?

That little beach is where I met you. We've talked about sneaking out and walking the sandy coast in the darkness of night. I used to believe that one day I'd be looking at those stars with you. I prefer them to myself.

(i wrote most of this like forever ago and just now found it)
