Chapter One
When children are abused, their mental health can sometimes take a turn for the worse. This will follow the journey of the fictional girl that lives in an abusive household.
As an only child, Nicole had learned to create her own friends to play with: the Wagawarps.
With an almost human-like appearance, these creatures wore dark brown skin and pitch-black hair that curled like soft waves.
Their brown wolf ears and cat-like eyes distinguished them from the crowd around them. They each had their own personalities. After all, they were different parts of Nicole and her imagination.
Rebby, the female cub, had bright blue eyes that looked as bright as the sky. Sam, Rebby’s male twin, had green eyes that changed colors with his mood and the lighting. Those were the two Wagawarps that typically followed Nicole throughout her average day.
The catch? She was the only one that could see them. She lived in a constant hallucination, one were she had someone to talk to. She’d speak to the imaginary creatures in front of others, driving them away. They had appeared just after her mom mysteriously died while the young girl was only six, leaving her in the custody of her father.
When he arrived home after his daughter’s bus, he would expect a warm meal from his twelve year old daughter, along with a clean house. After filling up on food, he would go to a bar, pick up a female, and bring her back to his house. When this happened, (which was almost every night) Nicole was expected to stay in her room and fall asleep by 8:30.
If the girl said or did the wrong thing, she got the belt. Whether it be as small as too much salt in the food or a small crumb on the floor, she had to pay the price. Eventually, she learned to live with it and accept that she had it coming.
Despite the constant ongoing abuse, no one ever noticed. The only thing they noticed was her silent mumbling to herself. Naturally, her teachers didn’t bring it up to the father. He had a reputation of being quick-tempered, but there was never enough to call CBS.
Additionally, Nicole’s uniform covered her legs and arms. It was mandated for all females to wear a long sleeved all-black shirt, black leggings, white tennis shoes, and a red and black plaid skirt; the perfect outfit to hide any sign of abuse that her father inflicted on her.
