Fourteen || Sharpshooters...and Great, I'm Facing a Magician
"Capricorn! Spin Screwdriver!"
Capricorn shot up in the air, as if he was a beyblade similar to Eagle. When it reached a good height, it started to spiral down.
"Eagle!" I yelled.
Surely, Eagle might not be able to stand Capricorn's attack head-on. But...if I could avoid it...no problem, right?
It was then when Capricorn's spirit animal rose out from the beyblade when I figured out my 'plan' (haha, what plan? Tess Rixen doesn't need any plans). Seeing its' spirit reminded me of someone...or rather, something. A wave of water that had the same tip as me.
That sounded really weird. I'm talking about Aquarius, who is technically a water-bearer. Why a wave of water? Geez...
Right. Focus.
"Eagle, switch tips!"
I wasn't sure whenever not Eagle heard me, for there was no vvrt afterwards. Across me, Tobio scoffed. He clearly didn't think anything of it.
"Stalling will get you nowhere! You'll never avoid Capricorn's Special Attack!"
"Watch me," I responded, shooting him a smirk as the familiar vvrt sound of switching tips was heard.
Yes, yes, I was doing a Hikaru move. Stop yelling at me for copying her. Yes, yes, I broke the fourth wall. Let me tell my story.
Speaking of which, rest in peace Fourth Wall.
Anyways, I'm gonna stop stalling.
As I expected, Eagle 'vanished' the second its' tip changed. Where did it go? I don't know (hehe, it rhymes).
Tobio's jaw dropped. "What? How? Caprico-"
Capricorn's Special Move, Spin Screwdriver, slammed into the bottom of the stadium before he finished. So much for telling his beyblade to stop. Total fail.
Kidding. Something very..special happened. Pun hidden in there, by the way.
"Eagle!"
I'm going to be totally humble right here. My Eagle's spirit was downright glorious to my eyes. Well, it was my first time seeing its' spirit.
With long flowing wings that probably spread out to about eight feet (two meters for other people- I'm American. I only moved to Japan a few weeks ago) and a turquoise-like color to match, Eagle rose from its' hidden spot to head towards Capricorn.
Its' body was a green color, but the head was more aqua in color, along with a lighter colored chest. It was beautiful.
My mouth moved on its' own. "Special Move: Hidden Talon!"
Talon? Like, an eagle has talons? Get it?
No? Okay.
As I said that, Eagle began to multiply like in Hikaru's special move, resulting in like eight green Eagles descending onto the goat.
Let's say they took their time fighting. One Eagle would swoop in from above and hit Capricorn, and directly after that hit, another would take its' place to continue assaulting Capricorn.
What was funny was that fact that there was only one Eagle.
"Capricorn!" Tobio called out in alarm, digging his hands into his wild yellow afro. "Come on, Capricorn, you can dodge at least one!"
Oh god, this was fun as hell.
Not that I would know hell's fun levels. Nope. Nada. Never been there, even though I can count on a couple hands how many people said 'Go to hell' to me.
A laugh bubbled up from my throat as I watched the Capricorn user panic, running back and forth from either side in attempt to get a better view. Wow, I was real morbid, getting entertainment from this.
I'm just a little sick, twisted thing, aren't I?
Anyways, as Tobio, or Captain Capri, freaked out, I looked on with a proud smile tugging at my lips. Ii had gotten a new move and skill and was whipping someone's butt.
"And Kyoya's battle is finished! He doesn't even pull out a special move!"
That snapped my attention away from the battle. Yeah, yeah, I know. Don't look away from the battle, Tess! You'll lose! Cliché stuff like that. But it'll be fine.
There he was, in his pride and glory as he walked away from the stadium, Leone in hand. As usual, a smirk was present on his lips, bangs ruffling side to side as he moved.
At the sight of him, I almost recoiled. My gut was churning as his sapphire-colored eyes met mine, before I averted my gaze.
That was the whole reason I was here. To whip his butt and rip that smirk off his face.
Ugh. This was like a Hate-Him-But-I'll-Love-Him-In-The-Future type of story. Nope. No.
But, yeah, I was done. " Eagle, finish. Fin."
Was that German or something?
Eagle obeyed my command, tilting slightly in one direction to go upwards into the sky before descending down onto Capricorn. I don't know what actually happened, but my beyblade spirit had Capricorn's spirit stuck in its' claws before dropping it down before Tobio.
"And Tess finishes up her battle with a Special Move we never seen before! What a beauty Eagle was!"
"Glad you think so," I said with a smug edge to my tone, hopping down in the stadium to pick up my partner.
Turning around to scroll where the waiting area was, I skimmed the top of everyone's heads to check. His forest-green hair was recognizable. But why couldn't I see him?
"So you're here too, I see."
Oh. Well, that explained why.
"Hello, Kyoya Tategami," I drawled, pulling up my mental defenses in seconds. "Fancy meeting you here."
"What's with your manner of speech? Last time I checked, you were a complete idiot."
When I immediately bristled (how did this guy just push my buttons all at the same time, just like that?), Kyoya's lips twisted into another smirk, his fangs just poking out of his mouth.
"I was not, and I am not!" I said hotly, and he merely shook his head in return. At that point, I really just wanted to challenge him right then and there- I could take him, I swear!
Probably. Maybe. Unlikely.
Ah, damn. This is why I hate thinking about things and charge ahead. Thinking about my actions isn't good for my self-esteem. Not at all.
But the Leone blader didn't reply to my last words besides a raised, dark-green eyebrow, and I huffed, crossing my arms across my chest and turning away from him.
Several minutes of silence passed between us, but I kept my gaze stubbornly fixed on the dirt-covered ground, sweeping several loose golden-brown strands away from my face.
After another minute of two, I heard his footsteps echoing away from me, even in the chatter of the crowd. Two other people had finished their battles.
And, ta-da! I was right. When I glanced up few minutes later, the said Tategami was gone.
Good riddance.
Don't get me wrong here, I found Kyoya...hm, how should I say this? Not boring, to say in the least (No, you shippers out there, I am not going to say cute or hot or handsome). But he was a pain in the ass outside of beyblading. A pure prick.
Such lovely choices of people I talk to on a daily basis. Shaun (a pretty much quiet guy who will only talk if he wants me to shut up), Kato (a douchebag), Una (okay, she was one of my best choices), and Timon (a complete butt of a boss that was creepy as hell).
Goodie.
The next few battles whizzed by no problem. There was a curly-haired boy with light silvery hair who was apparently named Hyoma, as well as the Teru ballerina dude from before.
The only other people that really stole my interest was the dark-haired male hiding in the back of the crowd. He had already went up to battle at the time Teru, Kyoya, and I all did, but I had never caught his name.
"Ooookay, here we go on to the second round. And the first four battles are: Teru against Hyoma! Kyoya against Macao! Oto against Sai! And Tess against Ryutaro!"
I didn't know who Macao, Oto, and Sai were. Don't ask me.
I assumed I was in the stadium labeled '4', with the large number printed across the curve of it. My opponent was already waiting.
First of all: Ryutaro was the dark-haired guy I was talking about earlier.
Second of all: He was wearing lipstick.
Yeah, that kinda posed a problem for me. I don't like people with lipstick. They smell weird.
As I went to the other side of the stadium, Ryutaro's eyes flickered open suddenly. I tilted my head in return as he stared at me.
"Hello," he greeted. "You are Tess, no?"
"That I am!" I announced proudly.
In response, Ryutaro flicked out his fan. "You might want to leave now, for Pisces and I will obliterate you."
"Oh, yeah?"
"I foresee the future, Eagle blader. I am one of few magicians in the world. Perhaps, as I said, you might want to leave now."
Oh, just wonderful. I was facing a magician. Great.
A/N~
I made this chapter longer for all the short ones recently. About 1500 words. I was supposed to stop around 900, but..ah. Oh well.
Do you think I got Ryutaro down to pat?
Oh, sorry if Tess' commentary was too witty or crazed. I had fun with it, though. XD
Timon (the boss) at top! He's no blader.
