Chapter 10

"Sapienti sap"

We came back to my room. It's funny how I already called it my room. It wasn't my room. Or it will ever be.

Walking behind the Prince he moved to the terrace while I sat on the bed. Tugging my legs underneath me I looked at him.

"So what is your master plan, Prince?" With a raising eyebrow I followed his look. His eyes didn't rest on me. His look was far away from here; from this room and me. Lost somewhere where everything was as he imagined.

"Do you constantly have to talk that much?" he contra asked still not moving his look from the open space.

"Nope. In my city, I was the silent one." I said smirking.

Every word I would say hurt him so much. With every jaw tightening I wanted to talk even more, just so I can see when and what will happen after he snaps. A controlling Prince can be hurt as well. No matter the control he has every inch will slowly move toward the edge of breaking. People don't deal good with pressure, and they snap easily. Maybe his snap will let me run.

"I could figure out that." He said still standing in the room.

"What are you even doing here? You completed your task." I said pointing at my collar, "I'm not going anywhere."

"I know that, but I organized something." He answered almost unconsciously.

"Oh. What? Your first robbery?" I said.

"Just shut up and listen."His eyes met mine. What I expected to see is anger or even annoyance but his eyes reflected joy, and amusement.

"Okay," I said, hairs on back of my neck crawling.

"I said to shut up. Is that too complicated for you?" He said staring at me.

His eyes shone green. Everything I wanted to see just got lost. If he thought using his power is a normal part of his day, for me it's not. Seeing his green eyes remembered me how this morning he froze his friend, how he acted like nothing happened.

"Y... Yours eyes are green." I said moving backwards. Pumping pain in my head just threatened to pull every memory on the surface.

Feeling a back of the bed pressed against my spine I stopped looking around. What is happening and why is he acting like this?

"I know." He said with a huge grin on his face. He stepped closer, "I want to know what is happening." his voice quiet next to my ear his hand moving my hair.

"No.. o," I said scared.

Drops of sweat rolling down my spine got lost in the shirt as he moved his finger in the air. Performing something with his hand his eyes changed into a darker shade of green almost blinding me.

"What are you doing?" I said moving my head from his palm.

A fear was so deeply implanted inside me I found it hard to swallow my heart racing a thousand miles per hour. Light touch of his palm on my face sent chills down my body; my legs cutting off.

Suddenly his palm moved back on his leg and taking a shaky breath I looked away from him. Adrenaline rushed toward my head telling me to run and save myself, but Prince paralyzed me in a second. There is something very wrong with Prince.

"Trying to figure you out." He said, "I used my powers the minute we arrived in the room, but you didn't stoop. You just continued to talk and talk. I want to know why?" He said and those green eyes stared at me like I know the solution for everything.

"I don't know," I said.

"Your face is telling different. Tell me. Are you scared?"

He studied his fingers almost fascinated with a dance that his fingers did.

"No.. no," I said staring at his fingers too. Almost invisible lines drew in the air.

"You are a bad liar." He said and glanced at me.

Now there wasn't a grin. Just a simple law. I needed to be killed. I broke his system. I had to be dead. But I didn't want to die. I wanted to see much more from this word.

"I don't lie." I succeeded to answer. But he didn't look away from me. I finally became aware of silence around us. There weren't people yelling outside, soldiers practicing, nothing.

"I have all day. I cleared it." He said, not moving for an inch.

"I don't lie." I echoed.

"Come. We are going into the walk." He suddenly stood up, lifting himself of my bed allowing me to take a deep breath. Giving me a hand to get up, he expected me to follow him.

"I don't want," I said hugging myself.

"No one asked, remember?" He ran his fingers, and I looked at his hand.

I had to go, or he will force me.

Second when I placed my hand in his palm he lifted me like I'm a cat walking on the terrace. His body didn't show any effort to lift me up.

Walking outside from my room I followed him only three steps before he stopped. My eyes scanned frozen soldiers outside my room looking at nowhere.

Gesturing me to get in fist I slowly pushed big wooden doors identical to mine and entered. It was like I transferred into a war camp or some battlefield.

There was a big skeleton with a shield hung on his left arm a metal armour around his legs and chests. Skull didn't have a helmet so a white bone shone through the open terrace doors. A big sword rested next to the doll's legs set against a metal hanger. Another of the same thing stood next to terrace doors but dressed differently and with a long red, material on it. On the wall was a gray map of our world a few towns and countries marked red.

The big bed was in the back of the room almost divided like on a platform. Black linen covered it leaving no traces of whiteness. Next to a bed stood a smaller couch revealing big picture of a battlefield placed opposite from bed.

A big bookshelf on my left revealed hundreds of books some of them divided by colour and some by a title. Terrace same as mine faced a river and a few sails faced a sky. One of it had a big lion engraved in the dark red material.

"Nice. What is this?" I had to ask. I don't see a reason for this trip.

"My room." He said from his place next to the doors.

I turned to face him only to see him already staring at me. He leaned against doors his hands crossed and a smile playing on his lips.

"Your room?" I muttered somehow. My cheeks fired with a fire red colour.

"Mine," he answered his lips curling into a bigger smile.

"Great. What is next?" I said wishing to look uninterested, but I just wanted to bury under a blanket and to stop imagining all different things in my head. I had to stop sleeping. That will not bring me anything good.

"Follow me." He turned waiting for me to exit first. When I did, he shut doors tight a big key shining in his hand.

"Like I could go somewhere else," I said and rolled eyes.

Taking only few stairs to the lover place I had to open my mouth. "So the other one was to torment me?"

"No. I like to go with that one." He said and left to another glass doors.

Leaving me alone in the frozen castle I rushed outside afraid to be alone in here. The quietness crawled upon my spine not allowing me to stay in place. It looked like a ruin now when handmaids didn't run around, soldiers chatted and trained.

When my eyes met with the shattered people on the street everyone frozen in some work, I just stepped back. Person like Prince is dangerous inside but what he could do outside I didn't want to know.

Warm wind carried my hair as I tried to run back in but he stopped me.

"Tell me what you see." He said standing a few steps in front of me. His hands rested on his back his head turned toward the labyrinth. Following his look I tried to find a reason of this walk. I want nothing with him. It stood higher than I expected. The green bushes withal different flowers made a beautiful contrast on the gray streets filled with frozen people. Two guards stood in front of it frozen in one battle scene. Around them were standing one general and too many people. Everyone was frozen.

"I see frozen people." Said quiet staring at my feet.

My pride didn't allow me to run and hide as a coward. If I can do something I will. Even if that meant walking around and answering a stupid questions.

"Right, and still I'm talking with you. Again, want to know why." He didn't look at me.

"I don't know," I said shakily. My voice broke at last word.

"Oh. Sweet. You are crying." he turned facing me now with white eyes like nothing of this happened.

"No, I don't," I said angry because I didn't. I felt pain for my people being frozen because of him and for the fact I couldn't do anything about that.

"Bad liar, remember? Besides, I can feel it." He said not turning.

I was sick if his behaviour.

"Listen. Just because you can freeze everyone that doesn't mean that you have to act like an asshole. You wouldn't use that, that awful power if you have a little mind, what clearly you don't, so I will tell you. People don't like that. You don't know that, but that surrounded me. They feel useless. One day passed by because you wanted to visit the town. You never visited it when we could move. Why? Why you didn't? Because you are scared. People don't love you. They are scared of you and that is why you never visited towns to show some respect for the hard work. No. You just rest here and do this freaking games just because of one girl, one girl who could move from your control. And because of that, I'm glad that I can."

I took a deep breath and looked at him. The warm wind dried a tear or two I spilled but nothing less. I will not give up.

He looked at labyrinth not saying anything.

"We are moving forward." He turned and disappeared in into the crowd. It wasn't too hard to follow him because he was only one moving.

I looked at the sky wondering why he is doing this; I know nothing. I don't know why I can do this.

Moving toward the centre of the Ignur I recognize a court of Three Churches. Two of them are on left and right from me and the third is in front of me. A church of Michael de Loughrey; the first king of Ignea. First one to start a religion and because of that God took him on his left making him immortal by his beliefs. Only forgotten can die, and this way people will remember him.

Entering a church I notice sudden temperature change. Thick stone walls didn't allow hot stale air from outside. I smelled bees wax and an incense. The whole church twisted into the octagonal shape, everything decorated with murals. They represented beginning of Ignea.

"What do you see?" He said.

I rolled my eyes. He continued on his own. He doesn't listen to anyone else.

"A church," I said after a few minutes of silence.

"And what more?" He said pointing at an altar.

"Portraits. Some church things and nothing more." I didn't want to answer his questions anymore.

"Wrong. You need to look at walls to see something. On them is a beginning of our country. My grand, grandfather was the first Prince. He had some theories.

'If you want your system to work, you have to check every part of it, otherwise, it's pointless. One day you will get killed.' So the point is that you are getting my system to threaten. I need to know how."

"I said and I will say again. I don't know. Just kill me and get over with it." My eyes rested on the mural of a big lion. He was painted so prodigiously it almost looked alive. His brown eyes were tightened into attack a soldier of Occupation standing near him. The first King rode the lion before leaving him to enjoy his life. I knew history, but I didn't want to share it. Everything I knew was because I would steal books from a library. My mother didn't approve what I'm doing, but she never stopped me.

He turned.

"I won't kill you. It's sin. Besides, we are in the church." He walked past me and I followed him once again.

"Like, it's a problem for you," I hissed, following his steps.

We ended on the ruins of an old castle. Carefully not to break my leg I stepped on some stone just to look for the view when he tapped a place next to him.

"Look at it down. Whole place under your feet. Feels like you can control it. It seems so easy. It's not. Every day you have to fight with something. One of them doesn't want that, others want something else. You can't please everyone. So you have to improvise. Try to get something they all will agree."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked looking at his profile.

He looked at me.

"Because I want you to know that, I'm not just sitting in a chair and do nothing. I started my training when I was 5. And from that day I didn't stop. And I never will. I had to train my powers from one side and my body from another. You can't have this power in a weak body. It wants to grow, too."

I looked surprised at him.

"You got that when you were 5?" I said not being able to concentrate on one thing. There is too much information. I will need a day to process all of that.

"Yes. With some accident, I don't what to name. So I need from you to concentrate on your childhood and to tell me something."

His face didn't change, but I could see emotions in his eyes. He didn't demand something like in a castle. He almost looked like he would like to know. He wasn't that annoying Prince he is in the castle. Being human is hard, but being an only man with powers like his and then finding out there is me feared him.

I took a deep breath. I didn't have the best memories, but I had someone.

I closed my eyes and gave to them.

My mind flew around memories playing with my friends, with Amelia, building a snowman, rushing toward the frozen river. Every memory tied me with people I knew and trusted. I didn't have some accidents or anything like this. My ability was visible from day one.

"I really don't know." I looked at my hands in lap and then at him again.

"Try harder." He said and looked away.

"Trying," I said and one thought appeared in my mind.

Can I tell him? I remember that I heard father saying that one day when mom and him fought.

"She is not our child, anyway."

I looked at the Prince and said.

"I think I'm adopted."

"Sapienti sap" Smart one enough.
