Today was just a normal day in Kakiriko Village. You were currently hanging up some laundry on a clothes line to dry outside your house.

You finished hanging up your clothes and was about to go back inside when you felt something brush up against your leg. You look down to see a cucco.

You smiled at the creature and pet it's head. The cucco reminded you of the time your friend, Link, had told you about his fear of cuccos.

~ Flash Back 7 years ago, you and Link are 10 years old~

"You're afraid of cuccos?!" You gasped, as you laughed at Link's fear.

"Stop laughing!" Link ordered, his cheeks red from embarrassment. "You promised you wouldn't laugh!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" You apologized, taking a deep breaths to try and stop laughing. "Why are you afraid of cuccos? They're so cute!"

Link gasped. "How could you ask such a ridiculous question?! And what do you mean they're cute?! They're demons!"

You rolled your eyes. "And how did you come to that conclusion?"

"Don't I have a story for you!" Link laughed. "So I was at Lon Lon Ranch, right? Showing off my awesome sword skills to Malon. And as I was showing her my amazing spin attack, when a dumb cucco decides to walk past me. I couldn't stop, I was already mid way through spin when my sword hit the cucco-"

"So you hit the cucco?!" You interrupted. "Did you kill it?!"

Link looked shocked. "No I didn't kill the cucco! Now let me finish!"

"How could you not have killed the cucco?" You asked. "Did Malon help it?"

"Stop with the questions and let me finish!!" Link ordered before continuing on with his story. "No I did not kill the cuccos when I hit it with my sword. In fact, it didn't leave a mark! Cuccos are invincible I tell you! Invincible!"

You rolled your eyes. "Okay, that makes no sense. And that doesn't explain to me why you think they're evil."

"That's because I'm not finished!"

"Then please Link," You urged. "Finish."

Link did just that. "Right when I finished my attack, the cuccos ran around in circles then suddenly came to a stop before screaming into the sky. Me and Malon were quite confused at first, but then, before I knew what was even happening, a bunch a cuccos flew towards me from the sky and started attacking me!"

Link paused for effect. You gave him a weird look. Link continued, but with more enthusiasm.

"I screamed as the cuccos pecked at me and I ran for my life!" Link jumped from where he was sitting and started swinging his sword around, pretending to fight something. "I drew my sword! I wasn't going down with out a fight! I swung my sword at them, but they wouldn't die! I was loosing strength, I had no choice but to run!"

Link stopped and looked at you, you pretended to look interested.

"Me and Malon ran into her house. I was a mess, so Malon patched me up." Link said, sounding sad. "I still have the scars to this day..."

Link lowered his head and went silent. It was like that for a few seconds until Link looked up a little bit to see your reaction. You did not look a bit entertained.

"I don't believe you." You said confidently, breaking the silence.

Link gasped loudly. "What do you mean you don't believe me?!?!"

"I've lived around cuccos my entire life and I've never ever seen them do something like that!" You explained to Link. "I won't believe you until I see it for myself!"

Right as you said that, a cucco walked by.

"Well would you look at that! A cucco! Go on Link, show me how an evil cuccos are by using that cucco!"

Link face suddenly looked panicked. "What?! Are you crazy?! I can't do that! I'll die!"

You got up from your seat. "That's too bad then, Link. I guess I'll never believe you."

And with that, you started walking away.

As you walked away, you could hear the heavy steps of Link running after you.

"Wait (y/n)! Wait!" He called to you. "There must be some other way to make you believe me!"

You shook your head. "Nope!"

"(Y/nnnnnnn)!"

~ End Of Flashback~

You laughed at the memory, you were such a demanding child. It had been 7 years since the last time you saw Link and you had still never seen a cucco go crazy and attack someone. So you still don't believe him.

You finished up the last of your laundry and was about to go inside when you heard a scream! You dropped your laundry and immediately ran towards the scream.

You ran around a house and what you saw really surprised you. A man in a green tunic and cap was being attacked by cuccos!

A crowd of people surrounding the man, not knowing what to do.

You looked at the man and saw blood and cuts all over him. If the cuccos kept attacking, he would die!

Taking immediate action and yelled to the man. "Hey you!!!"

The man took notice to you and motioned him to follow you. He started running towards you and you started running towards you house.

You swung the door open to you house when you got there and the man immediately ran in. You quickly followed, slamming the door shut and locking it.

The man took deep breaths and bent over with his hands on his knees. He was clearly tired.

"Here!" You said, pulling up a chair from your dining room table. "Please sit down! I'll get some bandages and medicine to help you!"

The man took the seat, but swatted his hand at you, telling you no. "No...need."

The man reached into a pouch attached to his belt and pulled out a jar of red liquid. The man opened the jar and began drinking the liquid. He gagged a little bit at first, but drank it all.

The man took a deep breath after chugging down the liquid and said. "That stuff is really gross, but it sure does work well!"

The man looked over at you and smiled, you smiled back.

"Thanks for helping me back there." The man said. "Cuccos are evil."

You laughed. "You're welcome!"

The eyed you for a second. "You look really familiar. Have we met before?"

You stared at the man. He had a very nice face. Bright blue eyes and messy blonde hair. You'd think you'd remember meeting someone this handsome.

You shook your head. "I don't think we have."

The man hummed in response before asking. "What's your name?"

"(Y/n)." You answered plainly.

The man's eyes went wide. He jumped out of his seat and marched over to your, grabbing your shoulders and getting a closer look at your face.

"(Y/n)? (Y/n) (l/n)?!" The man asked.

You were so shocked that you couldn't say a word, so you nodded your head.

The man smiled brightly and laughed. "(Y/n), It's me! It's me, Link!"

Your eyes widened and looked at him closer. Come to think of it, he did look a lot like Link! Just taller and more muscular.

You laughed before wrapping your arms around his shoulders, giving him a tight hug, which he gladly returned.

"Link!" You yelled with happiness. "It's so great to you!"

"It's great to see you too, (y/n)." Link sighed into your hair, hugging you tighter.

With a change of mood, you pushed Link away from you and whacked him upside the head, but not hard enough hurt.

"Where were you all these years, Link?!" You yelled, putting your hands on your hands. "It's been 7 years, Link! I thought you were dead or something!"

Link pretended to look hurt, but you saw right through him.

"Answer me! Where have you been!?" You asked again.

Link raised his hands in surrender. "Okay Okay! Let me explain."

Link told you about his 7 year long sleep after he pulled The Master Sword from its pedestal. He explained how he was destined to save Hyrule and he was going to defeat Ganondorf.

You stared at him wide eyed through his entire explanation.

"You're The Hero Of Time?" You asked in aw.

Link nodded.

You suddenly got excited. "So that means your going to save us all from Ganondorf!"

Link laughed and nodded.

You clapped your hands in excitement. "Oh Link, that's fantastic news! You have no idea how hard it's been since Ganondorf took over!"

Link said. "I've been all over the place after I woke up. I've seen the destruction. I'm sorry for leaving you to go through all of it."

You shook your head. "Don't apologize, Link. It's fine, really. As long as your here now to help out."

You walked over to one of the cupboards in your kitchen and opened it. "After all those adventures and being attacked by cuccos, you must be hungry. Why don't you stay for dinner?"

Link nodded his head happily. "Yeah!"

That night, you made Link some soup for dinner. You both sat across from each other at your small dining room table.

Once Link and you finished, he told you it was probably the best meal he's had since he woke up!

You smiled and thanked him before going to clean the dishes.

"Hey (y/n)?" Link said getting your attention.

"Yes, Link?" You asked as you scrubbed a bowl.

"Do you believe me now?"

You turned around to see Link looking at you with a smirk across his face.

"Believe what?" You asked, trying to hold back a grin because you knew exactly what he was talking about.

"Oh...you know..." Link said. "When we were kids, you didn't believe me when I told you cuccos are evil. After what you saw today, do you believe me now?"

You smirked. "I don't know, Link. Even while you were asleep for 7 years, I had never seen cuccos act like that. I would watch children mess with them and they wouldn't do anything. You know Link? I think cuccos just hate you."

"They don't hate just me! They hate everyone!" Link argued. "They're evil. Evil!"

You laughed. "I don't know, Link. I feel like I need more convincing."

"Oh come on!" Link said, throwing his hands in the air. "When we were little, you said you would believe me when you saw a cucco attack someone!"

You laughed. "Okay, Link. You're right! I totally believe you."

Link gave you a straight face. "That sounded sarcastic."

"No it didn't."

"Yes it did."

"That's just how I talk."

Link rolled his eyes. "Yes. That's exactly how people talk."

"Now that!" You said. "Was sarcasm."

Link spent the night that night since he really didn't have anywhere else to go and, all and all, just wanted to spend time with you. Although, that night didn't consist of sleeping, just talking and laughter.

It all just started out with Link telling you more about his quest when it turned into some sort of childhood story time. You talked about all the dumb stuff you did and laughed about it together all night long. That night made you realize how much you missed Link. You had completely forgot about how comforting his presence was those 7 years ago. You were glad he was back.

Although, mid way through the night, you began to realize how much Link had grown exactly and how much more attractive he was now. His hair was longer, his face was more mature, he was much much taller, and had muscles all over him. You would have never imagined him to ever look like this 7 years ago.

Just thinking about this made you blush and just looking at Link made you blush harder. Were these... feelings? Feelings for, most likely, your best friend? You pushed these thoughts to the side, you just wanted to catch up with Link and have a good time. But during all of that, you heart beat was beating faster than normal for the rest of the night.

The next morning, Link had to leave. He had to go defeat another Dungeon.

Link was packed and ready to go. You and him were standing in your door frame, discussing when you two should meet up again. You could feel your cheeks heating up even though you were trying so hard not to blush. Link didn't seem to notice though.

You and Link hugged and shared your goodbyes before Link turned around and was about to leave, but he stopped mid step. There sat a cucco. Right in front of him.

"Oh crap..." Link whispered with fear in his voice. "I'm being surrounded!"

That's when you got a sudden idea. With a burst of confidence, from behind him, you grabbed his shoulder, got on your tippy toes, and kissed his cheek.

Link's cheeks flared and he turned around and stared at you, wide eyed.

"W-What was that for?" He asked.

You were a blushing mess just as he was, but still trying to sound confident, you said. "It's my kiss. It gave it to you to help protect you from all those monsters you're going to come. Especially those so called evil cuccos."

Still blushing, Link touched his cheek where you kissed him and smiled. "I will treasure it forever. Till next time, my dear."

Link grabbed and kissed your hand before hesitantly waking around the cucco and waking out of Kakiriko Village.

At first, you felt really proud of yourself for doing that. That was until you replayed the memory and cringed at yourself.

You slapped your forehead and though. UGH! I'm such a dork! "It's my kiss. I gave it to you to protect you!" What the hell is that supposed to mean?!?!

That's when another thought occurred in your head. Well... at least I didn't get rejected. Now that! Would really make me die internally!

You went inside, mentally congratulating yourself while also mentally dying at the same time.
