Foresight: part 5

News was buzzing around Rivendell as the youngest member of the house of Elrond had given birth to a baby girl a few days ago. You were doing well, and so was your moon and stars. Lindir was the proudest he had ever been in his life, his chest puffing out a little more now.

You had been excused from work as a healer for the first few months, but that didn't stop you. When your father was gone, you always stepped in to help the people of Imladris.

Today, however, was not one of those days. Today, you were sitting on the balcony of your bedroom, holding Taneniel close as she slept. You did not want to leave her alone so early in her life. You hum an elvish lullaby as you rocked her back and forth.

When Lindir opens the doors to your home, he half expected to see you asleep in the couch. Instead, he heard a beautiful voice coming from the outside. He smiles when he recognized your voice, and followed the sound almost as if he were under your spell.

He smiles when he sees you sitting down, trying to keep your daughter from waking up. Lindir gives you a small wave as you turn around hearing a noise. You smile at him, beckoning him over to you.

Lindir sits down next to you, placing his head on your shoulder to look down at his daughter. The words still sounded so foreign to him. His daughter. He felt a certain pride when he thought of that.

"Hello darling. How are you today?"

He asks, gently stroking Taneniel's cheek. You smile and kiss the top of his head. "I am doing well. Taneniel has eaten, so now I am trying to get her to go back to sleep."

Lindir nods. "Your father is having a celebratory feast tonight." You raise an eyebrow at him. "Is he now?" He nods again. "Apparently he wants to show off his granddaughter." You get up off the bench and go back inside. Lindir looks at you confused.

"Melamin, what's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Y/n...." Lindir says quietly standing in the doorway watching you up Taneniel back in her crib. You stand watch over her, your hands gripping the side of the cradle. Lindir wraps his arms around your torso, kissing the tip of your pointed ear.

"Melamin, please tell me what is bothering you."

You shake your head and break out of your husband's grasp. Lindir closes the bedroom door and sits with you on the long chair. You bury your face in his robes as you begin to cry. Lindir wraps his arms around you, stroking your hair.

"I'm sorry meleth, I'm afraid my hormones are still all over the place," you say wiping your eyes. Lindir chuckles and wipes a stray tear. "It's quite all right my love." You blush. "Tell my father we will prepare for the feast.

Lindir nods. "I'll go tell him right away."

He gets up and leaves to go find your father.
