I gently tap my pencil at my desk while glancing out of the classroom window with a deadpan look. My expression is enough to make anyone know that I'm bored out of my mind and I don't care about the lessons that's being taught by my teacher.
This level of education is worthless to me if I want to be a hero.
But, am I really deserving to actually be one?
I thought as I remember my quirk, frowning slightly at the memories that came with it.
(Y/N) Hanamichi
Quirk: Magma Manipulation/Magmakinesis
- allows (Y/N) to shoot out jets of lava from her fingers and her hands, causing mass fiery destruction around the area of where she used her quirk. She cannot use this for more than thrice however (without the use of lava-resistant gloves) because it burns and possibly scars her hands.
- excessive use of quirk may lead to exhaustion, damage reduction and possibly lead to her skin slowly being peeled off due to the intense melting heat of the lava, though this will only happen if she doesn't wear lava-resistant gloves.
"Hey, Hanamichi! Pay attention, please!" The male teacher, who stood behind the podium, exclaimed angrily. It's obvious that he did see me just stare out into space, doing nothing and not pay attention to whatever he has to say.
I twist my head towards the slightly enraged teacher with a glare. He flinched visibly and arranged his glasses as he shakily brought the chalk back up on the board. "I-I'll let it slip this time, Hanamichi but please, listen and pay attention." The teacher stuttered and continued to write the lesson on the board while explaining some stuff about the lesson.
I scoff at this before glancing around the room to see if there's anything mildly interesting for me to watch. So far, almost everyone is taking notes and listening to the teacher intently, that it almost made me laugh.
However, my (E/C) eyes caught a pair of bright and emerald green ones. Izuku Midoriya stared at me with an indescribable look from his shoulder before flinching and turning his head towards the front of the class.
He seemed to be blushing and panicking at the same time. Midoriya probably didn't expect me to catch him staring at me.
I drifted my attention away from the green haired male as I continued to glance around the classroom, eventually landing my gaze on a spiky, ash blonde haired boy. He had his feet up on his desk with a narrowed and angry look that stayed prominent on his face.
The teacher doesn't have a choice except letting Katsuki Bakugo do whatever he wants as he's the "most powerful" in the whole school. He often brags about how powerful and destructive his quirk is and how he would be able to eliminate anyone in his way.
Of course, I never confronted him about his ego but not that I care anyway. His own entitlement will be his downfall.
I still remember the day where he did his usual routine of bullying and picking on Midoriya. He took it too far by grabbing the notebook that he always scribbled on. I could see how happy and passionate Midoriya seemed to look like whenever he writes on it so seeing Bakugo take this away from him and tear him more than he should've made something inside me flip.
"What the fuck is this, Deku?" Bakugo smirks devilishly in front of the trembling green haired boy while holding up the notebook that Midoriya always scribbled in. I narrow my eyes at this, glancing behind me to see if anyone could go and stop Bakugo.
Unsurprisingly, none of them came up to the two, either because they were scared of what Bakugo might do to them or they don't care at all.
"K-Kacchan, p-please give it b-back!" Midoriya took a step in front of Bakugo, holding his hand out to reach for the notebook that the ash blonde boy took away from him.
However, Midoriya's words did nothing but to annoy and anger Bakugo as his crimson red eyes narrowed and dilated. The grip around Midoriya's notebook tightened, which caused the pages to crumple.
"Huh!? Who the fuck are you to order me around, you little shit!?" Bakugo bellowed at the green haired boy.
"Eep!" Midoriya flinched and immediately took a step back as he retracted his arm away, afraid of what the ash blonde boy might to do him if he did anything else. I frown at this as my grip around my chair tightened as well.
I can't stand to watch this, especially since Midoriya treasures that notebook so much.
"Heh, that's right; you better take a step back, Deku." Bakugo's smirk returned as his grip around Midoriya's notebook loosened. "But you see, ordering me around and all that really pisses me off." His smirk widened, making Midoriya tremble more than he should as he feared for what Bakugo might do to him.
"That's gotta earn you a punishment, right Deku?"
My eyes slightly widened when I saw him glance at the notebook and curling his fingers around it. Midoriya gasped loudly, tears almost threatening to fall out of his glossy green eyes as he reached out to grab the notebook away from his bully once more.
"No-!"
Before anyone could react, my hand was already gripped tight on Bakugo's stiff wrist. My eyes were narrowed up at the ash blonde boy and my hand was trembling while trying to hold Bakugo's wrist to stop him but I stood my ground as I don't want to look weak in front of someone like him.
"Hey," He gave me the deadliest of glare that he could muster with his crimson red eyes almost glowing dangerously. "What the fuck are you doing, you damn extra?"
"I would like you to stop and return the notebook to Midoriya-san." I said, tightening my grip around his wrist but he didn't seem to react on this. Instead, he tossed the notebook away and brought his hand up towards me.
I was surprised at this because I didn't expect him to use his quirk on me but I ducked just in time as a loud explosion, along with surprised gasps and screams ring in my ears. I take a quick glance behind me to see that most of the students are unharmed, which led me to believe that the explosion wasn't anything big.
In an instant, I curl up my fist before bringing it up on Bakugo's jaw, hoisting myself up from my ducked position as I did so.
"Ack-!" He grunted as he stumbled back slightly, holding his jaw and kept his head down while trying to stabilize and compose himself. Loud gasps erupted the room once more until they settled down into loud murmurs.
Bakugo was still holding his head down while his hand was on his jaw. I could faintly see a small drop of blood drip on his finger and I winced at this but had to remind myself that he deserved it.
Without saying anything, I glance over at my side to see the crumpled notebook laying on the floor before crouching down to pick it up. I swat off any dust or dirt from it before turning around and handing it over to the still-trembling Midoriya, who stared at Bakugo's still form.
"Here, this is yours right?" I ask monotonously, gaining the attention of the green haired boy. His eyes softened and he wasn't trembling as much when he landed his gaze on me, which is good.
Midoriya nodded robotically before taking the notebook from my hand. He disheartedly stares at it for a moment before looking back up on me, smiling nervously as he did so.
"U-Um... T-Thank you so much, Hanamichi-san ." His slightly relieved look immediately faded, however, and a fearful expression was strewn across his face as he glanced up behind me.
"Look out!" He practically shouted as I immediately twisted my head around and got welcomed by a painful punch in the cheek by Bakugo. The force of his punch made stumble back and fall to the floor on my rear end.
"H-Hanamichi-san!" I heard Midoriya exclaim fearfully.
I hiss in pain and my face was scrunched up in discomfort. The throbbing pain in my cheek didn't seem to go away. Eventually, a tall shadow loomed over me and I didn't even need to look up to see the person standing in front of me.
"Have you learned your lesson yet, you damn extra?" Bakugo's voice was sinister and full of malice but I didn't reply to him. I was met by Bakugo's kick on my other cheek, making me grunt and almost lay my body on the floor, trying to stabilize and compose myself.
"S-Stop this already, Kacchan! She's h-hurt!" Midoriya's pleads were heard by no one as I felt the collar of my uniform blouse being held up by Bakugo, lifting me up from the floor and leveling both of our eyes.
I was tempted to use my quirk on this bastard but I didn't want to step down on his level. I'm not that kind of person.
And I promised myself that I wouldn't use my quirk on a situation like this.
Never again.
"Consider this as a warning. If you stand in my way again, I'm going to do worse than a punch and a kick, you got it?" His voice was low yet intimidating. Anyone who's currently in my position would immediately nod out of fear and I wouldn't blame them.
I, however, didn't respond to Bakugo's intimidation and this must've pissed him off as he roughly dropped me back to the floor with a thud. I grunt softly at this before lifting myself up from the floor and wiping off any blood that might've oozed out from my nose.
"You quirkless bastards are no match for me anyway." He clicks his tongue before walking away with his hands tucked on his pockets. Bakugo must've thought that I'm quirkless but that's to be expected as I've never shown my quirk to anyone, except my family.
I guess I was just scared that everyone might be scared of me,
and I don't really like being the center of attention, like Bakugo.
I don't even use my quirk often. I mean, my quirk isn't useful in a daily basis and it's only use is to cause mass destruction, melt and explode if it's exposed to sea water.
I sigh as I watch the ash blonde hair walk out of the classroom as my classmates parted way for the "king". Most of them shot me a sympathetic look but I shook them away since I've no use for their sympathy anyway.
"Hanamichi-san!" Midoriya ran up to me, his green eyes were landed on my emotionless (E/C) ones as he trembled at the sight of my bloodied nose and bruised cheek.
"O-Oh my goodness, a-are you alright!?" He asked as I stood up, stumbling for a second before wiping my nose again and facing Midoriya. I stare at the boy for a moment before glancing down to the notebook held in his hand.
"Um..." His words trailed off when he noticed that I was staring at his crumpled notebook.
"You should take care of your things more often. Don't let some bastard like Bakugo trample over you like that." I say before wincing a bit when I felt my cheek throb in pain again.
Midoriya didn't say anything and instead, gave me a surprised look. When the pain was starting to become unbearable, I turned away from the green haired boy while rubbing my cheek to soothe the pain a little bit.
"Ah...! I-I'll accompany you to the infirmary!" Midoriya was about to walk up to me but I stop him by giving him an indescribable look from my shoulder.
"That's not needed. I can go there by myself." I dismiss the boy before walking out of the infirmary by myself, feeling the looks of my classmates following my movements.
I sigh at the memory before looking away from Bakugo, in case he catches me staring at him. I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate it anyway.
Ever since that event, Midoriya and I seemed to be... okay? I mean, we're now talking to each other even though we weren't that close before.
He's a really nice boy and I can tell that he's the type of person who wouldn't hesitate to help someone of they really needed it.
Midoriya also told me that they are childhood friend, which is why he calls him 'Kacchan'
I wonder what happened to the two, though. They don't seem to be that close now.
"Ah, that's right," The teacher turned to look at us with a smile graced on his lips. I give my attention to him while groaning silently.
Oh goodness, what does he want now?
"Since you're all third years, it's time for you to think seriously about your future." I began to zone out again, thinking that I probably have no future because of how I am but at least, I'm trying.
"I'll pass out handouts for your future plans now, but...you're all...pretty much planning to go into the hero course, right?" As the teacher said that, everyone cheered happily while showing off all of their quirks. Some of them have fire-based quirks and some morphing quirks but I couldn't bother to check all of them out.
In the corner of my eye, I can see Midoriya slumping on his desk while fidgeting on his fingers.
He did say that he wants to go to U.A, didn't he? I think he mentioned it to me at one point when we were eating lunch together a few days ago.
"Yes, yes, you all have wonderful Quirks!" The teacher chuckled, "But using your powers at school is against the rules!" I scoff silently at this since he didn't know that Bakugo did use his quirk on me when we 'fought'
Against the rules or not, I'm sure Bakugo would care less.
"Teach! Don't lump us all in the same group." Bakugo smirks while eyeing everyone in the class as if they're scum. "I'm not gonna be stuck at the bottom with the rest of these rejects!"
"That was uncalled for, Katsuki!"
"Yeah, yeah!"
"You all should shut up like the extras you are!" Bakugo exclaimed, glaring at the student that called him out.
"Oh, if I remember correctly, you want to go to U.A High, right, Bakugo?" The teacher thought as the ash blonde haired boy smirked once more as they let out surprised gasps and stare at him with an incredulous look.
"U.A? The national school!?"
"It was in the top 0.2% this year, you know!"
"Their acceptance rate's always really low, too!"
"Thats exactly why you guys are just extras!" The explosive hedgehog placed his foot on the desk before hoisting himself up and standing proudly amongst all of us. I just lowered my head, feeling secondhand embarrassment for this boy.
"I aced the mock test! I'm the only one at this school who could possibly get into U.A.! I'll definitely surpass All Might and become the top hero! My name'll be inscribed on the list of top earners!" Bakugo stated while grinning down at the students below him. Almost everyone stared up at the hedgehog with a look of admiration on their faces.
Well, almost.
I could only roll my eyes until the teacher said something.
"Oh right, Midoriya and Hanamichi wanted to go to U.A too, right?" Everyone turned to look at me and Midoriya before laughing, finding the thought of us studying at U.A to be ridiculous.
I could only blink emotionlessly at all of them while Midoriya just hung his head low in embarrassment.
"Huh? I can see that Midoriya doesn't have a chance but Hanamichi does have a quirk, doesn't she?"
"Don't be ridiculous, if she had a quirk, she would've used it or showed us already."
"Then two quirkless in our class wants to go to U.A? Isn't that... impossible?"
"Yeah, there's no way you could get into the hero course without a quirk!"
"And you can't just get into U.A just by studying!"
I roll my eyes again before laying my head on my desk, wanting to just sleep all of this out and go home to rest. I don't want to hear nor deal with small minded people at the moment.
Even if Midoriya doesn't have a quirk, it doesn't mean that he's hopeless. Geez, these people have quirks and they're even worse than a quirkless boy.
"Th-They got rid of that rule! There's just no precedent...." I heard Midoriya mumble and then the sound of a desk being stepped on. I didn't need to lift my head to know that it's Bakugo who is confronting him.
"Listen up, Deku! You're even worse than these damn rejects, you quirkless wannabe! You really think they'll let someone like you in when they can have me?!"
"No, wait, Kacchan! It's not like I'm trying to compete with you or anything- Eep!" Midoriya squeaked as I felt my desk being stepped on as well. I lift my head up lazily and saw Bakugo looking down at me with furious crimson red eyes.
"And you! You're also nothing more than just a hero wannabe! Why not try to beat me first before you think that you're fit to join U.A, huh!?" He bellowed and I just stare at him for a moment before bringing my head down to try and sleep this out.
"Hey, are you even listening to me, you damn reject!?"
"Now now, Bakugo. Why not let them try to go to U.A? Who knows, maybe they might even be able to get in." The teacher said. "Midoriya and Hanamichi show promise, after all and wouldn't you like it if they were to be your classmates?"
"Huh!? Those two quirkless guppies are worthless! Why would I ever want to stick with either of them!?"
I began to tune everyone out as I retreated back into my own thoughts. I was tempted to show everyone that I'm not as hopeless as they think I am but I don't think Bakugo would really appreciate that and I don't think dealing with other people questioning me about my quirk would be the best.
I silently click my tongue and just thought that it'd be better to just show everyone that in the entrance exams. I did manage to pass the mock exams as well, along with Midoriya so the entrance exams are all that I need to pass.
Bakugo's ramblings continue in the background, along with the rest of the students laughing and calling him out for his boastful behavior.
Ugh, when will this day end?

"U-Um, Hanamichi-san!" A shy, frantic voice called, making me twist my head to see Midoriya run up to me.
"Oh, Midoriya-san." I acknowledge his presence as he stopped in front of me, panting for a brief moment as he did so.
Running can easily make him that tired? I thought while watching the green haired boy lift his head up, giving me a smal nervous smile.
"Um... would you l-like to walk home to-together?" He stuttered until he somewhat flinched when he saw how serious I seemed to look like when I stared at him, waving his hand around in a fluster.
"Y-Y-You don't ha-have to if you d-don't want to, of cou-"
"Sure." I cut him off when I noticed that his face is getting redder and redder by the minute, that he looks like he's about to explode.
His lips were parted in surprise as the color in his cheeks turned into a soft red blush.
"R-Really?" His voice was small but I could still hear him. I nod in response, making Midoriya's green eyes seemingly sparkle and grow.
"T-Then, you can wait for me by the gate! I'll stay for a while in the c-classroom since I need to give our teacher m-my handout." Midoriya told enthusiastically. I nod once more, indicating that I understand.
The green haired boy gave me a wide grin before turning around and waving happily and walking off into the hallway, leaving me in my own thoughts.
"Midoriya is going to need all the support he can get if he wants to get into U.A... Maybe I can help with that?" I murmur, trying to wrap my head around my relationship with Midoriya.
Are we even friends or something?
Well, its not like I had one ever since I was 10.
I shake my head before walking off into a different direction, letting my legs drag me anywhere in this school so I can have something to do, other than being with a bunch of people.
Little did I know, an ash blonde boy stood in the distance, hiding while watching my interaction with Midoriya.
