the date to end all dates [part 2]

"How horrible it can be?" Sarah scoffed.
"You yourself said it was a mistake." Erica said, shutting her locker.
"I was half kidding!" Sarah defended. "And I didn't think he would agree so quickly."
"Whatever, you gave it a shot... for some reason and look what happened." Erica shrugged. "Dinner was ruined, everyone was attacked by an invisible monster and there's a gem that can kill a vampire! So, lesson: don't date geeks!"
Sarah rolled her eyes.
"He's probably just nervous," Olivia said. "After all; it is Ethan we're talking about."

***

Later that day, Erica noticed Ethan waving at them by the door, trying to get their attention. Olivia heard Erica constantly hissing Sarah's name but she wasn't answering. Olivia reached out and harshly hit her arm. Sarah looked up at her, clenching it in pain.

"Sorry," Olivia whispered. "but there's someone who wants to talk to you." She nodded her head towards the door.
"Looks like someone's in need of more awkward conversation." Erica grinned.

Sarah looked over at Ethan, who was signalling for to come outside, but Sarah shook her head and mouthed go.

Ethan wasn't giving up, he shook his head and kept urging her to come outside. Sarah rolled her eyes and mouthed go one more time before returning to her work. Ethan over at Olivia. She shrugged before he walked off.

***

"Have you seen Benny today?" Olivia asked Sarah as they walked down the school corridor.
Sarah shook her head. "No, why?"
"I just wanted to see him - I haven't seen him all day." Olivia sighed.
Sarah shrugged. "I'm sure he's fine. Ethan and Benny are always up to something."

Ethan suddenly ran into Sarah. Due to how unstable Ethan was, he fell to the floor.
"Ethan, are you okay?" Sarah and Olivia asked.
Ethan stared at them in horror. "What's wrong with you?" He stared at the two girls who looked like they'd been dead for centuries.
"Excuse me?" Olivia scoffed.
"What's wrong with you? It was just one bad date-"
Ethan scrambled to his feet and ran away.
Olivia and Sarah looked at each-other. "What the hell just happened?"

***

Olivia was sat at home when to her delight, she got a call from Benny. "Hey, Benny. What's up? I haven't seen you all-"
"Come over to Ethan's, right now." He ordered, cutting her off.
"Er... okay." Olivia said. "Why-"
Benny hung up and Olivia threw her arms up in the air, getting up as she did so. "Really?"

***

"Ethan, look at Sarah." Evelyn said, calmly.
Ethan nervously looked up at Sarah, who still looked dead.
"Stern wants you afraid, why? Because he knows you can stop him." Evelyn continued. "You just have to find something stronger than your fear. Sarah's the one you want to protect the most,"
Benny shot his grandma a glare. "But I'm his best friend."
Evelyn ignored him. "Now, whatever teenager nonsense is going on you two care about each-other."
Benny still looked offended, he frowned. Olivia sat next to Benny and took hold of his hand, placing their connected hands on her thigh. "It's the same with us, Benny."
His frown turned into a smile.
"Olivia's right." Evelyn told them, before returning her attention to Ethan and Sarah. "You have to believe me; that's stronger than any magic Stern might put in this message." Evelyn got up and opened the letter. "Let's see what we're dealing with."

She was taken aback by a purple light that emitted from the paper and hit her body, knocking her onto the couch. Luckily, Ethan caught hold of her arm just in time but found himself within Evelyn's mind.

"What's happening?" Olivia asked, getting up and walking to the two.
Benny got up too and lightly shook his grandma. She looked to be in shock.
"Stern's magic. She'll be okay, but she may be like that for a while." Ethan told them. "We're on our own. Now what?"
"We go after that goon and show him what the score is. It can't be that hard." Benny nervously grinned.

Ethan didn't reply, he just curled up in a ball and stared at the couch, still terrified.

***

Olivia and sat next to her boyfriend with her head on his shoulder, feeling as if her eyes were about to close. She was snapped awake by Benny, who got up and walked towards Ethan. "Enough is enough. Dude, we have gone up against all kinds of crazy stuff before and we always win." Benny paused for a moment scratched the side of his head with one finger. "Well, most of the time we always lose but that's not the point! The point is you're the guy who pulls it together. Every time... so pull it together!" He finished, pointing at him.

"I just talked to Erica, she didn't sound like herself; she's leaving town with Rory and the entire vampire council's running!" Sarah panicked.
"Really? Talk about chickening out." Olivia scoffed.
Sarah strode over to Ethan. "Ethan, we need your help. If we can't stop Stern, who knows what's gonna happen to us?!"

Ethan moved his head a little to look at Sarah and jumped when he saw Sarah still looked more undead than ever. He then looked over at Benny and Olivia, who looked the same.

Ethan breathed in and out heavily and got up. "Okay. I can't let anything happen to you guys. Your grandma said that I had to find something stronger than fear - I think I did." Ethan told them, holding out his hands.

Sarah got the idea that they had to hold hands and took hold of Ethan's with one, and Olivia's with the other. Benny then caught on and did the same, so they were all stood in a circle.
"Do you feel that?" Sarah asked.
"Dude... are we having a moment?"

Ethan took a deep breath and shut his eyes. Once he opened them, his friends had returned back to normal. "I'm okay, as long as I don't let the fear through, we can do this."
"We're on our own against Stern." Benny sighed.
"Well, I guess someone's banishment can't really be enforced." Ethan responded, taking out his phone and beginning to text someone.
"Updating your status now really isn't the time." Olivia joked.

"Guys, don't freak out. I've thought it over and this is our best shot, okay?" Ethan said to his friends, who all shared the same perplexed expression.

Jesse suddenly walked into the living room, grinning. Sarah hissed and Olivia's instant move was to run up to him at vampire speed and pin him against the wall.

"You're not very happen to see me, I can tell." Jesse said, struggling to fight Olivia's grip.
"You turned my girlfriend into a vampire and bit my best friend!" Benny poked his finger out at him.
"And you made me suck out the venom when you knew what it would do!" Sarah added.
"And as for me? I'm a full on vampire! I didn't even need to drink blood to pass my fledgling stage thanks to your venom reacting to my witch powers! I'm a monster thanks to you!" Olivia hissed, her eyes turning a bright blue.
"And I'd love to be sorry about that, but you all know I've done much, much worse." Jesse replied.
"Later! The man who has The Lucifractor's related to the wizard you took down 200 years ago." Ethan told him.
"Sinistral family revenge, what a shock." Jesse rolled his eyes.
"How did you stop his super great grandfather?" Benny scowled.
"He loved power, he loved to show it off. I let him wipe out most of my flock with The Lucifractor while I snuck up behind him and drained him dry. I told you I'd done worse." Jesse explained, using his extra strength to free himself from Olivia's grip. "Excuse me, I'd like it if you would get off me."
Olivia hissed at him before stepping away and standing beside Benny, who wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
"A budding romance, isn't that lovely?" Jesse grinned. Both Benny and Olivia shot him a glare, Olivia flashed her fangs.
Jesse chuckled, with the same grin spread across his lips. "You've really changed."
"Time changes everyone." Olivia shot back before turning her attention to her group. "Now let's go."

***

"Looks like we're a little late to the party." Jesse said, looking at the ashes on the floor.
"Where would Stern go?" Ethan asked him.
Jesse thought for a moment. "The Caller; we use to communicate with other covens but he can use it to broadcast The Lucifractor's field across the entire town at once."
Ethan stared at him for a moment before Jesse gave him a look that said shall we carry on?

The five carried on walking, avoiding the ashes of those who were once vampires.

"Ethan! So happy you could make it." Stern smiled at him.
"Well, I got bored of looking at dead people." He shot back, which was probably the worst comeback Olivia had possibly ever heard.
"I can think of what I'd like to see." Sarah narrowed her eyes at Stern.
Stern looked at Benny and snapped his fingers. Olivia saw Benny's eyes go black for a second before her slowly stumbled over to him. "Benny?!"
"Benny and I had a little conversation when I caught him in the office. Well, a one-sided conversation, really." Stern chuckled. "Take care of your friends for me." He ordered, walking away. "There's a good boy."
"Benny... are you-" Olivia trailed off when Benny turned around to face them, with an evil smirk on his face.
He then began to shoot bolts of lightening towards the group, who immediately ducked.

"We have to take Benny out, he's a profitable loss." Jesse whispered.
"What?!" Olivia almost yelled. "Are you crazy?!"
"No he's not!" Ethan laughed, as if he thought Jesse was joking.
"What's so funny?" Sarah questioned.
"I've got an idea," Ethan said, taking out his phone and opened an email from Benny, which said: Incase of Evil Benny, open this.
He peeped over the small wooden table they were hiding behind and held his phone up too. The phone started to speak the spell which knocks people out. A bolt of magic escaped the phone and hit Benny, making him feel weak before knocking him out.

"What was that?" Olivia laughed.
"After that time the magic camera turned Benny into Evil Benny, he sent me an email marked Incase of Evil Benny, open this. I never thought I'd get the chance to use it!" Ethan told them.
"Great, now he's almost unconscious." Olivia said, throwing her arms in the air. "Now what do we do with him?"
Ethan poked him. Benny jolted a little. "Don't hurt me again, grandma." He mumbled.
Ethan looked at Olivia, who rolled her eyes. "You go with Jesse and Sarah, I'll try and knock some consciousness back into him."
"How will you do that?" Ethan asked her.
"Just go!" She ordered.

Once the two were left alone, Olivia sighed, looking at her boyfriend.
"You know, I think I need a kiss..." Benny groaned in pain, trying to crack a grin.
Olivia chuckled lightly. She knelt down and cupped Benny's cheeks in her hands and kissed him. Although Benny was weak, he did kiss back, instantly feeling a lot better.
Once Olivia pulled away, she got up and held out her hand for Benny to take. "Can we do that again?" He asked in a daze.
"Later. But right now, we need to help stop Stern." Olivia said, keeping his hand held in hers and leading him into the main hall, where Stern, Ethan, Sarah and Jesse were.

"What did we miss?" Olivia asked.
"You'll be just in time for the end if we don't leave now. Go, run! Now!" Ethan yelled. The five took one more look at The Lucifractor before running away.

Olivia stopped once they reached the long corridor leading to the main hall in the manor house.
"What are you doing?" Benny asked, being the only one who noticed that she'd stopped.
"There's no hope," She said. "There's no escaping this, Benny, we've lost!" A single tear trickled down her cheek.
Benny looked behind him, his friends were now gone. He looked back at Olivia and gulped. "Listen, we really need to catch up with them."

Olivia madly laughed and shook her head, stepping closer to Benny and wrapping her arms around his neck. Benny couldn't help but wrap his arms around her waist so there was almost no space between them. "There's no hope." She whispered, her voice cracking a little. Benny's heart sank how broken she looked.
"It's okay, Benny."
"How is okay?" He asked.
"We're together; just you and me. And that's all I'd ever want." She smiled, still crying.
Benny tried not to cry when he looked at the tears trickling down her girlfriend's cheek. "You're right. It's just you and me, it's always been just you and me. I love you, Olivia Montgomery."
"I love you, too, Benny Weir."
Their lips collided and moved in sync.
Everything came back to them at the moment in time: from meeting for the first time, to remembering how it felt when they both kissed, to their small break up, to fighting the differences between them and falling back in love when really, they never fell out of it; they've always loved each-other and always will.
And with that, they felt the limerence for one another for the last time.

"If we're supposed to be running away, shouldn't we be... running... like, away?" Erica asked Anastasia.
Anastasia held up her finger, signalling for her to be quiet. "Be silent, we're waiting."
"For what?"

A wave of blue and purple was suddenly let off and it ran across the whole town, making the three jump back in surprise. Rory's jaw dropped.
"That." Anastasia replied, watching the wave soon fade. "It is done."
"Nice explosion! Ethan and Benny will be sad if they miss that." Rory sighed, looking at Erica.

Anastasia then flew into the air, followed by Erica, then by Rory, leaving the town in eternal silence.
