guys and dolls

Olivia agreed to help Sarah babysit tonight - she convinced her to come over because she could see Benny. Sarah made Olivia sound like a desperate girl who only goes somewhere to see a guy - which wasn't true.

"Debbie was my favourite and now she's ruined." Jane sighed, looking at her broken doll with Sarah and Olivia.

"I'm sure we can fix her with some tape or glue." Olivia said, trying to cheer her up.

"Then can we have a dance party?" Jane asked, her eyes lighting up.

"Yeah, sure. What else are we gonna do?" Sarah shrugged. "We'll be right back." She said, taking hold of Olivia's hand and dragging her downstairs.

"What are you doing?" Olivia asked.
Sarah sat her down and crossed her legs. "So, Benny!"

Olivia rolled her eyes. "You've gotta be kidding me! We sound like some pre-school girls that's obsessed with nothing but boys. We're going back upstairs." Olivia got up and grabbed Sarah's hand.

Sarah stopped her by taking her hand out of her grip and putting them on her shoulders. She forced her to sit back down. "Promise me you'll say something soon."

Olivia sighed. "I promise." Before walking back into Jane's room.
"Okay we're b-" Olivia and Sarah froze once they saw a lifesize Debbie.
"Hi! I'm Debbie Dazzle! Wanna play?"

"Ethan! You're gonna wanna see this!" Sarah called out.

***

Ethan and Benny ran in. "Woah..." Benny said.
"Hi! I'm Debbie Dazzle!" Debbie said, giving an almost freaky smile.

"Jane, can I talk to you for a minute?" Ethan asked, taking her away. "How did this happen?"

"She had a broken leg so I used Benny's fix it spell and now she's alive!" Jane smiled.

"Let's have ice-cream and go to a roller disco dance party!" Debbie announced.
"Yay!" Jane cheered.

"No parties. We need to turn her back into a doll." Ethan said.

"No! I don't wanna go back! It's so boring I won't go back there, I won't!" She argued.

"Don't worry, I won't let them send you back." Jane said, holding Debbie's arm.

"Oh goody! Let's celebrate! Cupcake dance party!"
Benny jumped up and down, but Olivia stamped on his foot.

"You are going to fix this! And Olivia, you're helping." Sarah looked at me. Olivia knew exactly why she wanted her to help, and it wasn't because she was a witch.

Benny and Olivia were lying on Ethan's bed, looking through the spell book.
"I think she's said a different spell or used different words." Olivia said.

She caught Benny gazing at her, they were lying so close together she wanted to say something but snapped out of it. "Benny, focus."

He blinked a couple of times. "Sorry, uh, I don't think we can reverse it until we find the exact spell."

"Yeah... probably." Olivia replied.
"Okay!" Benny grinned. "Now that we're alone-" He shuffled closer.

Olivia's heart was beating fast, as was Benny's. She wanted to stay here, but she knew it was wrong. Screw it. She thought. Olivia then laughed. "I can hear your heart beating."

Benny looked at his chest, then back up at her, embarrassed.
"It's fine, it's funny." Olivia chuckled.
Benny grinned, looking at Olivia's lips, licking his own.

Olivia couldn't take it anymore; she wanted to kiss him - she really wanted to.

Stupidly, she stood up. "This is Ethan's bed and they're downstairs." She said, hoping that her excuse was good enough.

"So?" Benny said, leaning on his side, his head rested on his hand.

Olivia gulped. "We better go downstairs."

She turned away and began to walk down the hallway. She squeezed her eyes shut and clenched her fists. "Dammit." She muttered to herself.

"Woah, this really is a cupcake party!" Benny answered, when him and Olivia reached the kitchen.

"Did you find anything?" Ethan asked.
"We think she's either used a different spell or different words." Olivia explained.

"Jane has to be the one to reverse it." Benny added.

Ethan groaned. "She's not gonna do that."

Debbie looked at Jane's pink cardigan, which was covered in cupcake mixture. "Oh no! Look at your clothes! I know what we should do: Debbie Dazzle fashion show!"

"Okay!" Jane said, bouncing up and down.
Debbie followed Jane out of the kitchen but stopped and bent over when the teens heard a snapping sound. "Ow!"

"Are you okay?" Ethan asked, helping her up.
"I'm fine - great in fact!" Debbie said, standing right up. "Let's go have some fashion fun!"

Ethan watched Debbie walk off in shock. Olivia furrowed her brows. "What happened?"

"I just had a vision; Debbie needs life energy to stay in human form. She absorbs it through contact!"
"That's not good..." Olivia muttered. "How're we gonna stop her?"

"Maybe if we keep her away from people she'll turn back into a doll." Ethan suggested.

"Let's hope." Sarah replied.

Olivia went to open the door, followed by Benny. Sarah grinned. "Completely unnecessary to follow her but you do it anyways, hm?" She mumbled to herself.

"What?" Ethan asked.
"Oh, nothing." Sarah forced a smile.

Olivia opened the door to see Rory. "Hey! The fun starts now!" He exclaimed.

"Not today." Benny said, closing the door, Rory stopped it from shutting. "Wait, you're not gonna invite me in?" He asked.

"The fun can start tomorrow." Olivia answered, slamming the door.
Olivia looked at Benny and sighed. "Too harsh?"

Benny shrugged. "He'll get over it."

***

"Is this what girls usually do with their dolls?" Benny asked.
"You don't do this with yours?" Sarah answered.
"Those are action figures." Benny retorted.

"We have to get her alone." Olivia whispered.
Ethan thought for a moment. "Hey, Debbie! Guess what? I just found a bunch of things that girls say go with shoes!" He lied.

Debbie stood up. "Ooh! I love accessorising!"

Ethan lead her into his bedroom and shut the door. He got a skipping rope and tied one end to his doorknob and the other to the bathroom next door.

Olivia, Sarah and Benny joined Ethan and an angry Debbie, banging on the door. "Jane's asleep." Sarah said.
"And Debbie's not going anywhere." Ethan said.

"I guess we better clean up before your parents get back." Olivia said to Ethan.

The teens started to head down the stairs as the door unlocked and in walked Ethan's parents.

"Sarah, go stall them!" Ethan ordered. Him, Benny and Olivia ran into the kitchen to clean. "Dude, we're not gonna be able to clean this all up in time-" Benny laughed as he looked around the kitchen.

Olivia sighed. "It's fine. I've got this." She held up her arms and mumbled a spell. She then snapped her fingers and within the blink of an eye the mess was gone.

Ethan stared at Olivia, with his jaw ajar, then at his clean kitchen, then back at Olivia.

"All sorted. Now, let's go check on Debbie." She said, leading the boys upstairs.

***

"You think her batteries have run out by now?" Benny asked.
"Probably, but-" Ethan froze and stared at the skipping rope which was now on the floor. They ran inside and Debbie was nowhere to be seen.

Benny noticed the window was open. "Is it too much to hope that she ran out of juice climbing out of the window and fell into the compost?"

Ethan's eyes widened once he saw his parents as dolls lying on his bed. "Mom?! Dad?!"

"I'd say she's now running on full charge." Benny remarked.

***

The next day at school, Olivia and Benny were at his and Ethan's locker, waiting for Ethan to show up.

Once they saw him approaching from around the corner, they greeted him.
"Hey, I hope that's your good news face." He said to Benny.

"I'm 99.9% sure that I found the right spell." Benny said. "Like I said though, I can't be sure how Jane pronounced it; she has to be the one to cast the reverse spell."

"Wonderful." Ethan said, sarcastically. "And my parents?"
"They should revert back to normal once the spell has been reversed." Olivia told him. Ethan nodded.

"Have you guys spoke to Rory?" Olivia asked, changing the subject. "I feel kinda bad for not letting him in yesterday..."

"He sent me a text saying that he was hanging out with his new girlfriend." Benny answered.

Ethan groaned. "He's mad at us."
"Or... he actually got a girlfriend..."
Benny, Ethan and Olivia all burst out laughing.

***

After Chemistry, Olivia, Benny and Ethan decided to apologise to Rory. Once they found him they said sorry for making him mad.

"Mad? How could I be mad? It's not everyday you get to rescue a fair maiden from your clutches! Especially one who's so into me." He said, grinning.

"What? You let Debbie out?!" Ethan hissed.
Rory nodded, obviously unaware of what he did.

"Why would you do that?" Ethan questioned.
"Because she's hot!" Rory grinned.

"Dude, she's a doll." Benny said.
Rory looked at him, confused.
"I mean literally, a doll!"

Rory still looked confused.

"As in she's made of plastic!" He almost yelled.
"Yeah! All the hot girls are," Rory turned to Olivia. "apart from one or two, of course."

"Rory! Get this through your thick vampire skull; she's not human!" Ethan snapped.

"Are you guys talking about me?" Debbie said from behind them, causing them to spin around.

"There's my girl! How'd it go with principal Hicks?" Rory asked.

"Him? He was such a doll! Hi guys, did you miss me?" She asked them, stepping forward.

"Gah!" Benny and Ethan said, Benny hiding in between Olivia and Rory and Ethan hiding behind Rory. "Jumpy much?" She asked.

She then looked at Olivia. "You're not so jumpy! Did you miss me?" She opened up her arms.

Olivia stepped back and forced a smile. "Yes, I missed you."

Ethan shot her a look.
"I'm joking, idiot." Olivia whispered.

"Flesh, blood, more than 8 points of articulation; all things I intend to keep thank you very much." Benny stated.

"You're coming with us, Debbie." Olivia said.
"Over by undead body!" Rory protested.

"Listen, she's dangerous." Benny tried to explain to Rory.
Rory hissed at him. "Well so am I! So, back off!"

Olivia raised an eyebrow, watching Rory put his arm around Debbie and walk off.
"We need Sarah." Ethan said.

***

"So it's settled; you'll kick Debbie's sorry, plastic butt!" Benny said.
"What? No, I never said that!" Sarah laughed.

"Ugh, come on!" Ethan pleaded, he looked at Olivia. "Olivia will help."
"What?!"

"Come on she's got Rory wrapped around her little finger." Ethan said to the girls.

"I can't believe he got a girlfriend before me." Benny said, resting his head against the wall.

Sarah looked at Olivia, as if she was saying 'not for long'. Olivia ignored her.

"We have to find a way to split them up." Olivia said.
"Or... someone!" Ethan said, looking at Benny.
"Nice." He grinned.

"Wanna fill us in here?" Sarah asked.
"Olivia-" Ethan began.
"What? No! I was thinking of Erica!" Benny protested.

Sarah raised an eyebrow. "Why not, huh?"
Benny paused for a moment before Olivia saved him. "Listen, I don't wanna risk getting turned into a doll. Erica can do it."

"Fine." Ethan nodded. "Unlike Erica you'll be willing to enter my "nerd" domain and help me."
Olivia laughed. "That's a good point."

***

"Still no call from Erica?" Ethan asked Sarah, who shook her head.
Olivia groaned. "She probably bailed on us... great!"

"No way, Erica may be self-absorbed but she always comes through for me." Sarah explained.

Rory then walked past, Ethan got his attention. "Hey, Rory, where's Debbie?" He asked.

"Beats me, she ran off looking for the one who made her." He answered. "You guys were right - that girl is whack!"

"The one who made her?" Benny repeated, raising an eyebrow.
"Jane! She's looking for Jane!" Ethan announced. "I'm supposed to pick her up after school-"

"I'll do it, give me the keys, I'll meet you guys there." Sarah said. Ethan handing her the eyes and she ran off.

***

"She should be back by now." Olivia groaned, lying on her back, on Ethan's bed.

"Just give her a little more time." Ethan answered.
"Jane, I wanna play with you!" Olivia heard Debbie say. She sat up. "Debbie's downstairs!" Olivia looked for Ethan's baseball bat, took it, before running out, ignoring Ethan's and Benny's protests.

She was at the top of the stairs when she saw Debbie approaching, Sarah was limping up the stairs after her. "Olivia!" Debbie said. "Help me find Jane!"

"Sorry, not today. Sarah, watch out!" She called, hitting Debbie's head so hard that it snapped off. Her body fell down the stairs, past Sarah, followed by her head.

"That wasn't very nice." Debbie's voice went deeper at the end.

Benny ran out followed by Ethan. "Woah, you pretzeled her good!" Benny said, looking at Olivia.

"You two okay?" Ethan asked. They both sat at the top of the stairs whilst Ethan and Benny ran down, picking up her head.

"We're okay." Sarah answered.
"Scare finder rule #10: nothing can do anything without a head." Ethan grinned.

Debbie's leg then moved, followed by her wrist, which turned and snatched her head right out of Ethan's grip. Benny screamed and jumped back.

The two ran up the stairs and hid behind the girls. "Where's Jane?" Ethan asked.

"In her hiding spot." Sarah answered.
"I'll go find her and find out how she read that spell." Benny said, jogging back up the stairs.

"Ethan you go, Sarah and I can hold her off." Olivia said.

"Actually, I'm gonna buy us some time." Ethan replied, running into his room.

***

Sarah and Olivia were left alone with Debbie, who was now climbing back up the stairs. "You look a little bent out of shape." Sarah said to her.

"But I'll get fixed." She replied. "I can't say the same for you two." Debbie reached forward and grabbed hold of Sarah, Olivia moved back just in time and kicked her back down the stairs.

She gasped when she saw Sarah in doll form, lying on the floor.

She then remembered Ethan was gonna buy them some time and she could hear music upstairs. "Come on, then!" Olivia shouted at Debbie, who was climbing up the stairs again.

Once they were at the top of the stairs Olivia heard Ethan yell. "Oh, Debbie!"
"Dazzle Dan?" She asked.

"Yes! Dazzle Dan!" Olivia exclaimed. "Let's go and see him!"

Before Debbie could hurt Olivia, she ran into Jane's room and leant against the door, hoping that Debbie wouldn't find her.

Debbie was too distracted to chase after her so she walked straight into Ethan's room.

5 seconds later Olivia followed and looked through the crack in the door.
She had to stop herself from laughing when she saw Ethan dressed in a sparkly blue t-shirt, pink pants, a fake moustache, his hair gelled back and fake tan all over his face.

"Become a doll again with me, Debbie." He said, holding out his hand.
"No!" She protested. "I don't wanna go back! I'm alive now!"

"Debbie, this world is boring! Do you wanna have to work at a job?"
"No." She answered. "No, not really."
"Then let's be dolls again. You can come with me and we'll have a dance party on my... speedboat."

Debbie frowned. "Dazzle Dan doesn't have a speedboat. He has a hover yacht."

Ethan went out of character. "A hover yacht, really? Cool!"
Debbie wrapped her hands around his neck. "You are a fake!"

Olivia was about to run in and help but Jane and Benny ran out of Ethan's closet. "Jane!" Debbie grinned.

Jane shouted the spell so quickly Olivia didn't even process the words, nevertheless, it worked and Debbie turned into a doll once again.

Ethan started to choke and Jane and Olivia ran up to him. "Are you okay?"
He nodded. "Yeah, thanks."

"What happened to me? What happened to you?!" Sarah asked, stumbling into Ethan's room.

"Nice hair, man." Benny joked, Ethan rolled his eyes.

He then saw his parents lying on his bed. "Why are we in our clothes?" Ross asked.

"Why are we in Ethan's bed?" Samantha asked.

Both of the parents jumped once they realised everyone was stood there.
"Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan..." Olivia waved, awkwardly.

***

Later that night, Jane made everyone have a dance party with her.
"So your parents don't remember anything?" Benny asked Ethan.

"Nope. As far as they know they came home and crashed." Ethan answered.

"Less talking, more dancing!" Jane said, excitedly.
"Come on, guys, we promised." Sarah said.
"Party at the disco beach!" Jane cheered.

Everyone was dressed up in their beach attire and Jane made everyone wear Hawaii flower necklaces around their necks.

Ethan set up disco lights and music - it made Olivia smile at how much of a good brother he was to Jane.

Ethan sighed and turned on the stereo. Benny started bobbing up and down walking towards Olivia. "Wanna dance?"

She looked over Benny's shoulder to see Sarah, who gave her a thumbs up. She looked back at Benny and nodded, before taking his hand in hers.

"Come on, Erica, you said you wanted to go dancing!" Sarah said to her. She was sat on Ethan's chair on her phone.

"Yeah! Don't be such a party pooper!" Benny joked.
Erica hissed at him. "Go back to dancing with your girlfriend." She teased.

"Not my boyfriend." Olivia mumbled.
"Or poop! Poop away! She scares me." He whispered to Olivia, she laughed.

Ethan, Jane, Sarah, Benny and Olivia started dancing, and once they did, Erica joined in.

Sarah and Erica looked at Benny and Olivia. He twirled her around before pulling her closer and twisting their feet in time with the music.

"Do they like each-other?" Jane whispered to them. They both nodded.
"Definitely."
