blood drive

"Sarah, seriously, you shouldn't be in school at a day like this." Olivia said to her best friend, who was worriedly stuffing her face with crisps.

She laughed. "C'mon, you look like me on Valentine's Day!" Olivia shoved her hand in Sarah's crisp packet and popped one in her mouth.

Her smile, however, quickly faded and she felt a pang of jealously when she saw Benny gawking over one of the blonde nurses.

Once she realised that her jealously was probably showing, she quickly tried to hide it.

Ethan walked up to Sarah and Olivia. "Hey, Olivia, hey... Sarah-" He stopped once he saw her.

"Hey, what's up?" She asked.
"Not much... you?"
He turned to Olivia. "What's up with her?"
Olivia bit her lip. "All of this is a little too much for her..."

"Do you need help? I could be your diet buddy!" Ethan suggested.
"It's Erica I'm worried about! She doesn't have much self control-"

Erica walked towards the three teenagers with a plate of cookies. "Hey, Sarah, cookie?" She grinned, flashing her fangs.

"A student volunteer? That is so devious... and kinda... clever, actually." Sarah said.

"I know right! So, when are you gonna take a sip?"
"I don't eat humans." Sarah said.

Erica smirked and held up a tube of blood in front of Sarah's face. She panicked and reached into her packet for crisps but she'd finished them.

Olivia groaned and took hold of Sarah's arm. "Let's get you some more."

"No, don't do this to me!" Sarah whined as the bag of crisps got stuck.

She held her arm up in the air but Olivia grabbed it, stopping her from smashing the glass.

"You do know that you could end your pain with one tiny little sip." Erica waved her Dusk bottle in front of Sarah.

"That blood is meant to save lives, you know?" Olivia said.
"Well, duh, mission accomplished!" She took another sip. "Ah! See? No screaming." She smiled, blood on her teeth.

"Right! Until you get caught. We'll see who screams then!" Sarah retorted.
Erica raised an eyebrow before walking away.

Sarah was back at it again with the huge bag of crisps, focusing on what seemed like nothing to Olivia, not talking at all.

This time, Olivia was slightly afraid to say something since Sarah had just knocked the whole machine over and the glass was smashed.

Ethan came up behind her. "Hey... Sarah! Hey, Olivia!" he paused when he saw the machine.

"Don't. Say. It." Sarah said.
"You better not, she's beginning to scare me." Olivia whispered to Ethan.

It was finally the end of the day and Olivia couldn't wait to get home. Despite the fact she was worried about her best friend, she just wanted some alone time.

Sarah and Olivia were walking towards their lockers when Ethan jogged over to them. "Could I speak to Sarah?" Ethan asked.

Olivia nodded. "Sure... I'll go talk to Benny or something."

"Olivia! How's my main girl doing?" Benny grinned, putting his arm around her.

She laughed. "You have a lot of girls, Benny. But none of them want anything to do with you, though."

"Ouch," Benny answered. "You want something to do with me, don't you?"

Secretly, Olivia did. Although she liked Benny and Rory and they were both kind to her, something about Benny was different - and she liked it.

Olivia laughed again. "You wish!"
Benny frowned.
"I'm joking." Olivia blurted. Her eyes widened. She didn't mean to say that so quickly afterwards.

He grinned and opened his arms. "You still owe me a hug!"

"From where?" She asked. In her mind, she knew from where, but didn't want him to know she remembered.

"Where we fought the mutant dead animals!"
She nodded. "Ohhh... yeah! I remember now. But-"
Benny cut her off. He pulled her into a warm embrace and Olivia was surprised she didn't want to pull away.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and he pulled her just a little bit closer. She rested her head in the crook of his neck and smiled to herself. It had been a while since she'd had a hug like this and she liked it.

Soon enough she pulled away before it just got awkward. "You're a really good hugger." Olivia said, her cheeks turning a slight shade of red.

"You are too." Benny smiled softly. "I think you owe me another... for..." He thought for a moment, trying to come up with something. His phone then started beeping. He pulled it out of his pocket. Olivia looked over his screen. "Are you tracking someone?"

"What are you doing behind the school, Rory?" He said to himself.
"You don't think that's he's, y'know..."
Benny and Olivia looked at each-other. "Oh no!"

Benny called up Ethan whilst they ran to the back of the school. "Dude, Rory and Erica are hitting the donor van behind the school!" He said, in between breaths. Benny stopped and frowned, looking at his phone. "He hung up on me!"

"Forget him, we can do this!" Olivia said.
Benny grinned. "Yeah who needs Ethan when you have two perfectly good spell-masters!"

Olivia and Benny ran towards the van but before they could do anything, the van took off. "Seriously?" Benny groaned. "We ran for nothing!" He threw his arms up in the air.

"Benny! Olivia!"

The teens turned around and saw Ethan and Sarah running towards them.

"Ethan! You hung up on me!" Benny said, upset that his best friend hung up on him.

"Later! Right now we have vampire nurses to deal with!"
"Vampire nurses?" Benny repeated, eyebrows furrowed. "Wait, where's Rory and Erica?"
"We figured out they were planning to rob the truck."

Benny took out his phone and opened his tracker app. "Okay, Rory's on the move - fast. He's either flying or-"
"He's on that truck!" Ethan and Olivia said simultaneously.

"Erica's probably still with him!" Sarah added. "They're in danger; vampires are super territorial! Sarah said.
"We gotta grab our gear and go after them." Ethan planned.

The teenagers ran back to Ethan's and geared up. Olivia saw Benny shoving a water gun into his small bag. She laughed. "How can you possibly fit that in there?"

He looked at her and winked. "I'm clever like that."

"Look what I found," Ethan said, he was sat in front of the computer looking at a site about the nurses.

"They've been running this scam for years! But, it wouldn't last for much longer if everyone knew they weren't real nurses."

Olivia came up behind Ethan, leaning over Ethan's shoulder to look at it.
"We can use that against them." Olivia said.

"Guys, come on, we gotta go now." Benny said, taking hold of Olivia's arm. "...and I think Sarah's downstairs eating all your meat."

The teens were hiding behind a wall, listening to two of the nurses talk. "They won't put up much of a fight anyway." They heard one of them say.
They then stepped out from behind the wall.

"Maybe they won't," Sarah began.
"But we will." Olivia finished, the friends looked at each-other and grinned, both agreeing that was pretty awesome.

"You!" One of the nurses said, her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, that's right; us!" Ethan corrected.

"Yeah! And me... too!" Benny said. The teenagers stopped and looked at him with a 'really' look on their faces.

"I'm Benny... from earlier. I'm the one who didn't pass out" He directed it at Ethan, who rolled his eyes.

"Benny, get to Rory and Erica." Ethan sighed. "You go with him Olivia. Sarah and I will hold them off." He raised his gun. "Mostly Sarah." Ethan added once Benny and Olivia were gone.

"Follow me!" Benny said to Olivia. He lead her into the van and Benny said in the driver's seat whilst Olivia sat in the passenger's.

Benny started playing with the buttons and wires, he looked to be struggling. "Need some help?" Olivia asked, raising an eyebrow.

Benny then managed to pull out two of wires. "No, I'm good. I'm a master at handling electronic- ah!" He jumped once he touched the two ends of the wire and they shocked him.

"Crap! Are you okay?" Olivia asked, taking hold of his cheeks and looking at him. "You've gone kinda pale..."

He smirked and tutted his head. "Don't worry, love, I'm fine."

She immediately took her hands away from his cheeks and looked down at the wires, pretty convinced she'd gone red.

Olivia's eyes focused on a remote with a large antennae coming out of it. "What about this?" She asked, handing it to him.

Benny took it and gazed at it with a smile on his face. "Yes! This'll work! You're a genius!"
Olivia grinned. "What can I say? Now let's go."

***

Olivia and Benny ran back to Ethan, Sarah and the two nurses. "Behold, the power of technology!" Benny announced, then looking at Olivia.

"Well, the power of Olivia."
She laughed and watched Benny press the button.

He hit it, once the door didn't open then waved it around. "Doorus, openus!"

Everyone stood there for a moment in silence before Olivia realised it wasn't going to work.

"Hang on," She said, closing her eyes, muttering something and hovering her hand over the device. Benny felt the remote vibrate a little and pressed it again. This time, the door opened, revealing Erica and Rory... about to kiss.

Erica opened her eyes and pulled away. "This isn't what it looks like!" She said.

Rory smirked and nodded, hopping out of the truck.

"He wouldn't shut up! Kissing him actually seemed less annoying!" Erica argued, stepping out of the van.

"Ugh!" One of the nurses groaned, shutting the doors to the back of the van. "I'm surrounded by vampire noobs! Let's get out of here."

"So, uh, you two need a ride home?" Sarah asked.

"No! We're good. It's nice out and we could use the flight practice." Erica said, signalling for Rory to follow her.
Erica walked off and Rory looked at Benny and Ethan. He grinned, stuck his thumbs up before following her.

The teenagers then heard a slap and Rory say: "Ow! What was that for?"
Benny looked at Ethan. "Something tells me Rory wasn't trying too hard to open that door..."

Olivia laughed. "Doorus Openus?"
"Stupidus Doofusus?" Sarah mocked.
