Take Me With You

Chenle was growing restless with each hour that passed. All that time he spent sitting in front of the lilies, waiting for Jisung like some lonely puppy. Did the other even feel the same?

Could it have been possible that Chenle was so desperate to have someone around, his warm and tingly feelings around the younger were really just relief to have company?

He couldn't tell, and he didn't care either. All he knew was that in a world of nothing but animals, trees and fairies, Jisung was the only being who could make him smile.

Boredly tapping his dainty finger against the force field and watching the little shimmers it left in its wake, the Chinese sighed out tiredly. Occasionally he would try to dance to entertain himself, or hum little songs from his past that he couldn't remember. They were only temporary fixes though.

"Where are you?" He whispered to himself, knocking his forehead against the barrier to feel anything. The idea of actually touching Jisung made him giggle.

Holding his hand....poking his soft cheek.....running his hands through his cute pink hair. Luxuries that remained as unrealistic as miracles for the white haired boy.

Slowly raising his head and seeing something shimmer on the barrier, he pushed back, gasping lightly and looking closely.

It was Jisung.

But not.

There was a reflection of the younger smiling on the surface, saying nothing, just giggling soundlessly. His little eyes crinkled joyously, and Chenle breathed out excitedly.

"Ji!" He cried, pressing his little hands to the invisible wall. There was no response from the strange image, just more cute expressions.

Chenle studied it carefully, tracing his finger along the younger's soft jawline, even though the whole thing was two dimensional.

What was this? Why was he seeing this now, after all this time?

"Jisung?" He murmured, leaning closer to it and resting his forehead against Jisung's again. "Where are you? Why can't you just stay here with me?"

A few fairies fluttered in from the forest, totally unaffected by the barrier and swooping straight through it. They hovered in the air above Chenle, watching his miserable form grasp at the little piece of the boy he had.

"You don't like it?" A fairy enquired softly, dropping to be in line with Chenle's head but a safe distance away.

"Wh-What?"

"This illusion....it is making you cry. You don't like it?"

"You're doing this?!" The teen hissed, "Why?! Why are you doing this to me?! Why can't I just see him?"

The fairy looked regretful while glancing back up at her small group above. "Apologies, Guardian. We thought by bringing him each night, you wouldn't cry anymore. You wouldn't be lonely."

"I-I don't understand...."

"Don't lose faith," she uttered softly before rejoining the others and disappearing again.

"Wait! Wait!" Chenle yelled, "Come back! What do you mean?!"

But that was it. He was left alone with nothing but an illusion of Jisung and the tears starting to burn the backs of his eyes. He faced the barrier once more, seeing the pinkette and breaking down.

"Take me with you...." he sobbed, kissing 'Jisung's' lips, and trying to imagine what he really felt like. Resting his cheek against the image, he curled up into a ball and cried himself to sleep.
