Of Course I Came Back

Jisung smiled at the familiar sensation of soft yet rough grass beneath his bare arms. The teen was dressed only in shorts and a t-shirt as summer was nearing back in his world.

He sat up, stretching and looking over at a small figure curled up against the barrier. "Chenle?"

The older didn't move, obviously not hearing him. Jisung tried again, "Hey, Chenle." He crawled up close to the barrier and went out to reach for his soft looking hair, but was met with the cold and hard sensation of the invisible surface.

It didn't matter too much though, as Chenle did hear him that time and started to stir in his slumber. Moving his legs out from under him, the older sat back and took a look over in Jisung's direction.

"Ah, Ji," he beamed, glad to see the real thing, and not some voiceless picture. "I-I was waiting for you."

"I know," the younger smiled warmly, crossing his legs and getting comfortable. "I couldn't stop thinking about you today."

"Really?"

"Really. You're always on my mind lately."

Chenle grinned, feeling an immense heat in his chest from those words. "So, how are you? It feels like it's been longer than usual for some reason."

"Oh, right. Sorry about that," the pinkette apologised, "I pulled an all nighter last night. I have exams all week."

"Oh. Good luck. I suppose the others around you are busy studying as well."

"Psh, nah. They're all wasting time playing video games and watching television."

"Television?"

"Mmm."

What's a television? The Chinese thought, not wanting to embarrass himself by asking. Perhaps he had just forgotten about it amongst other things.

"Oh," Jisung interrupted his thoughts, pointing at his exposed shoulder. The oversized blouse he was wearing was forever falling off him, and revealing far too much.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry," the older blushed, pulling his sleeve back up, "These clothes are always too big. The fairies say it's the traditional fashion of the forest, but I don't know....it's kind of-"

"Beautiful," the other interrupted.

"Huh?"

Jisung gasped, realising he had said it aloud and getting all flustered. "Uh, I meant it's nice...on you, that is. It suits you....ah, not that I was looking! I was just-"

"Thanks," Chenle chuckled, placing a hand on the barrier and watching as Jisung did the same, their hands having supposed to have touched, but couldn't.

The younger smiled back, starting to stare at the pretty teen before him. They began to get lost in each other's eyes before Jisung realised that he had actually wanted to ask a question in the first place. "Oh, right. I was pointing at your chest because of that sparkly thing on it. I saw something...."

The older frowned, pulling his sleeve back down to reveal most of his chest yet again and nodding at the realisation of what the other was talking about. "Ah, you mean this?" He pointed to the purple gemstone, "It's been on my heart for as long as I've been here. Not sure why, but it burns my fingers when I try to touch it."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah. I tried to pull at it once, and I was practically thrown backwards by some weird force."

Jisung stared at the stone a little more, actually recognising it as amethyst. His mother loved that gem, and had various pieces of jewellery with it.

"Chenle," he murmured, looking at the older with a strong fondness but even stronger sadness. He could never touch him after all.

"Mmm?"

"I-" he paused, his words getting caught in his throat at the sight of his gorgeous brown eyes.

Not now....

"I will always come back for you. I promise...."

The other grinned happily, nodding thankfully and sliding up close to the barrier. "I'll hold you to that."
