frozen in fear
The road leading to your place felt like it stretched on for miles; every minute felt like an hour. My head was throbbing with pain, and my vision was becoming increasingly blurry. As I drove, my focus drifted, and I almost didn't notice the young boy standing in front of me. I slammed on the brakes, hard, but just as suddenly, he disappeared from view. I immediately got out of my car and rushed to the front only to see him collapsed onto the road.
I was relieved to realise that my car hadn't actually hit him. As the adrenaline from the close call started to subside, I knew that I needed to act quickly. I called for an ambulance, and within ten minutes it had arrived, and the young boy was taken away to get the help he needed.
With a heavy heart, I got back in my car and continued to your place. As I pulled up outside your apartment, I parked the car and grabbed the bouquet of flowers in the passenger seat. I closed the door and made my way to the crossing.
When you saw me, your expression was filled with joy, and without looking both ways, you ran towards me. As I was in awe of how beautiful you looked that evening, my eyes instinctively shifted to the side, and I saw a truck hurtling towards you. It was as if everything was happening in slow motion, and I felt helpless as I watched in horror. You froze like a deer caught in the headlights.
In that moment, everything changed, and my heart sank with sorrow and pain.
[NARI'S DIARY]
Dear Diary,
When I say I love you more, it's not just about loving you more than you love. It's about loving you more than the hardships we may face, more than any disagreement or conflict that may arise between us, more than the physical distance between us, and more than any obstacle that could ever try to tear us apart. I love you the most.
Yours always, Nari.
