Cooking is a HUGE part in tott as players of the game quickly realize.

I'm just going to point out a few things you probably already know so bear with me, oh and if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

To win the cooking festival you only need to have high stars, a five star dish may be just what you need to carry your town to the end. This can be done by cooking often to get your cooking level up so that star level on dishes will go up from the ingredients used. (Note; A five star dish is not a guaranteed win, the festival is a team activity, if you don't win you can always restart the day in hopes of having a better cooking team)

As Howard tells you, the only way to get your cooking level up fast is to cook each individual dish one by one instead of stacking. Making five of the same dish in one session will give you the same amount of experience as just one.

If you want your cooking level to go up fast find simple recipes using the crops your growing, often times you can sell the cooked vegetable for more than you can just selling it. (Example, growing turnips in spring and making turnip salads one at a time will not only give you more money but also up your cooking level)

Having a high cooking level also enables you to make high level dishes and your character will occasionally come up with recipes on their own.
