Begonia [Chapter-3]
Jin Ling arranged things for her to stay in the infirmary for a while. Yu ZiYuan was fairly happy with how righteous his grandson seemed to be.
Truth be told, she had been worried about how things had turned out. Judging by the fact that this was her grandson, at least a decade or more had passed already. Jin Ling looked no more than 14.
Yu ZiYuan was thinking such things when there was the voice of a female speaking, "Are you Xiao MingYu?"
The woman seemed harsh. She was not the first impression one would get of a healer. She seemed more of a cultivator than a healer.
[Yu ZiYuan should meet Wen Qing. XD]
Yu ZiYuan nodded.
It felt weird.
She was lying obviously. She wasn't Xiao MingYu. She was far from that girl in terms of mentality and nature.
But who would believe her if she said she was actually someone who got offered a body without her consent?
That rose another question in her mind. How did Xiao MingYu know about such a spell and array? Granted, the Jin sect specialised in arrays, but how did she, a simple disciple of the Jin sect, know about this?
She made a mental note to figure it out later.
But now to the present situation.
Jin Ling looked at her with a smile, "Guniang, please rest well. I will see to the case tomorrow morning. I will be going. Healer Ling, please take care of her. I will be leaving her in your care." He bowed and left.
Yu ZiYuan looked at the woman who was about to treat her wounds. She looked about 40, has a stern look on her face. She had burgundy eyes and long black hair tied up in a ponytail. She was wearing simple golden robes made of fine silk.
She spoke with a neutral voice, "Show me your wounds."
Yu ZiYuan nodded and lifted up her sleeves.
Ling Xiang looked at the wounds and her eyes widened a bit.
"Burn marks? How did you get them?"
"I was bullied. There are more all over my body."
There was an eerie silence. Ling Xiang nodded and brought out medicines and ointments from the shelf containing all sorts of medical supplies.
She spoke, "Where else are they?"
Yu ZiYuan didn't bother speaking and came down the bed. Ling Xiang was a bit surprised.
"You...what are you-"
Yu ZiYuan opened her robes, letting them slide on the ground. All that was left was a short under robe, revealing her bodily scars.
Under the moonlight spilling from the window, they looked especially vibrant. Ling Xiang was speechless for a long time before probing her by the hand, "Come here. Let me treat them now."
Yu ZiYuan didn't say anything else and obediently sat down on the bed, letting her wounds get treated.
She was in her own thoughts.
Yu ZiYuan was in the LanlingJin sect, yet there had not been one word of her daughter, Jiang YanLi, or her son-in-law, Jin ZiXuan.
She absentmindedly asked the healer, "Healer Ling, may I ask you a few questions if you don't mind?"
Ling Xiang snorted, "Bored getting treated are well?"
Yu ZiYuan answered without hesitation, "There were very few instances where I got bored of peace. I usually didn't get to have much of it. So no. I really am just curious to know some things and I feel like now might be a good time to ask them, to a person like you."
Ling Xiang was a bit speechless, then she spoke in a neutral tone, "For someone who has been hurt badly, you sure maintain your sharp tongue."
Yu ZiYuan replied, with the experience she gathered in her life, "Pain and realisation changes people significantly."
Ling Xiang sighed. She didn't expect such a young girl to be this full of insight.
She had heard the girl had been bullied very horribly. To see how she acted, it was very likely that she was just broken and traumatised. It might be seen as over dramatic to others, but the injuries and burn marks on her skin were very serious, and one would think she was viscously tortured by someone.
Ling Xiang probed, "Ask away. I will answer the best I can."
Yu ZiYuan nodded, "Then excuse my ignorance, but who is the current person running the sect?"
Ling Xiang glaced at her from the corner of her eyes and spoke, "You are disciple in this sect and you don't know? The Jiang Sect Leader has been running the sect for the past three months, although temporarily. Young Master Jin is way too young to handle a sect right now. And even to hold the reign of it legally he had to turn at least 16. Right now he is only 14."
Yu ZiYuan seemed to freeze for a moment before asking, "What about his parents? Young Master Jin, what happened to his father and mother?"
Ling Xiang looked really skeptical now, "Have you been living under a rock all this time? How do you have no knowledge of basic information known by everyone?"
Yu ZiYuan's calmness didn't waver as she replied cooly, "I am a poor girl, living hell on earth. My days went thinking about managing how to get three meals a day. I didn't have the energy or time for these, except recently, because right now I have none, no family, no friends. I am a fairly new disciple as well. So here I am."
Ling Xiang spoke, "Fair enough. Young Master Jin's parents had been dead for 13 years already."
Yu ZiYuan stilled.
Ling Xiang continued, "Since you don't know I might as well tell you in detail. 13 years ago, Jin ZiXuan and Jiang YanLi died."
Yu ZiYuan stilled completely.
"Jin ZiXuan died in the hands of the Ghost General Wen Ning, who was at that time being controlled by Jin GuangYao by a flute, while Jiang YanLi died in the Massacre of Nightless City."
Ghost General Wen Ning? Controlled? By Jin GuangYao?
Yu ZiYuan assumed Jin GuangYao was one of Jin GuangShan's illegitimate child who had somehow crawled inside the Jin sect. But Wen Ning?
It was clear by the name that this person was without a doubt a Wen.
What was the Massacre of Nightless City?
It was a city located in Qishan, that much was true.
"Judging by that look, you probably don't even know who the Ghost General is." Ling Xiang sighed.
"Please enlighten me."
"Very well."
Ling Xiang began with an intake of breath as she started to apply medicine in the more inner areas of her body, "Ghost General is actually a fierce corpse but he has consciousness. And thus acts like a human unless controlled by other forces. I don't know much in detail about him. But obviously as you can understand by hearing the surname, he is a Wen."
Yu ZiYuan listened intently, she was not rash about her judgement this time.
She had already learned her lesson from her previous life.
But the next line Ling Xiang spoke made her choke on her own spit.
"He was originally dead, but had been brought back by Wei WuXian, who is a master of controlling and tempering, or shall well say in milder words, experimenting with resentment energy."
"Psch- cough cough cough!"
Yu ZiYuan started coughing out of nowhere. She was so caught off guard at the mention of Wei WuXian, and even more caught off guard when she heard the Wei WuXian was a master of controlling resentment energy."
Ling Xiang held in her place and asked while patting her back, "What happened? You choked out of nowhere. Here, have some water."
Yu ZiYuan readily accepted it and after drinking it fully, she apologised, "I am sorry. I just happened to choke up."
Ling Xiang shook her head. Yu ZiYuan urged, "What about Jiang YanLi? How did she die in the Nightless City?"
Ling Xiang continued, "It's a long story. But Wei WuXian, the Yiling Patriarch was once framed of crimes he did not perform, and in the Nightless City there was a meeting to lead a siege on him, when he suddenly appeared on the meeting, and everyone started fighting of course." She sighed, as if tired of this old story.
Yu ZiYuan spoke, "Jiang YanLi ran to the battle field to see him didn't she?"
Yu ZiYuan knew just how much Jiang YanLi adored and loved her younger siblings. She would never sit down knowing her younger brother was fighting in a life and death battle.
It was irrational of her, but that was just how she was.
Ling Xiang nodded, "Correct."
Yu ZiYuan guessed the rest as well, but didn't say anything as to not raise suspicion. She wanted to hear something different than her own deduction, but it still ended up being whag she guessed, as she heard Ling Xiang continue, "Jiang YanLi didn't have any combat experience. It was an obvious outcome that she died there, leaving her one month old boy in the hands of his uncles to raise."
Yu ZiYuan didn't know how to take this whole information. Jiang YanLi obviously had not wanted to die. But circumstances pulled at her. She felt a dull pain in her chest and suddenly her eyes felt hot. Tears gathered in them and she could not fight them in.
Droplets of warm tears stilled rolled down her cheeks, Ling Xiang spoke, "What happened now? Silly girl. This is all in the past. Why are YOU crying?"
But what Ling Xiang didn't know was that this 'silly girl' was the mother of Jiang YanLi. No matter how strong a person was, hearing one's own child's death none could remain strong.
After a while of crying, Yu ZiYuan wiped away her tears and spoke in a hoarse voice, "Well...what about Wei WuXian?"
Ling Xiang, who had been confirming her for a while, glanced at her, "Do you wanna listen? Seems like you have a soft heart. You might end up crying again."
Yu ZiYuan shook her head, "Please continue. I want to know."
Ling Xiang was now applying medicine to her legs. She continued, "After a few months of the massacre of Nightless City, a siege was led to the Burial Mounds, where Wei WuXian was killed in the siege, but how he died is unknown to people. Some say he was killed by Sect Leader Jiang-"
"Cough cough cough!"
"What the fuck is wrong with you? Why do you keep coughing out of nowhere?"
Yu ZiYuan's head was spinning around. She barely managed to hold herself steady as she spoke, "Forgive me please. Just normal cough."
Killed by Sect Leader Jiang??????????????
How come her own son killed his brother?
What was even going on?
Yu ZiYuan knew there was more to it. What Ling Xiang was saying was just the tip of the iceberg.
Ling Xiang spoke annoyed, "Do you want me to treat you properly or not?"
Yu ZiYuan spoke a bit embarrassed, "...I am sorry."
Her heart was still aching about her daughter's death. This...after that...was a bit too much. She spoke with a teary voice, "What happened afterwards?"
Ling Xiang sighed and continued, "As I was saying, it is said by many that Sect Leader Jiang killed him, however a lot of people also said he died of a backfire while destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet."
Now what the fuck was this Stygian Tiger Amulet? Yu ZiYuan's head was going to explode with these things.
Her hopes of having her three children safe and sound was shattered in pieces.
Ling Xiang continued, "13 years later, approximately five months ago, Wei WuXian was summoned back by one of the illegitimate children of our former sect leader Jin GuangShan." Her face twisted into disdain as she uttered his name, "And currently, Wei WuXian is a member of the Lan clan, being married with Hanguang-Jun."
"Hanguang-Jun?" Yu ZiYuan asked in daze. She guessed it was one of the disciples of the Lan clan.
Ling Xiang nodded, "Second Young Master Lan-"
Yu ZiYuan started coughing again for the third time in the span of 15 minutes.
Ling Xiang got angry and spoke, "Sit still. Fine I am not going to say anymore. You keep coughing out of nowhere. Here, take these coughing medicines. You are seriously a headache."
Yu ZiYuan accepted them and didn't probe anymore to her. It would end up in a bad direction if she did.
She had to find the rest out from others and figure things out herself.
