Lilith had a gift. Well, it was more of a curse. Wherever she went, death followed. Death was her mother that kept her hidden in the darkness to shield her away from the light, it nurtured her in ways it shouldn't. It force-fed her negativity and evil until she no longer feared it, Lilith was a force of nature that no one dared to harm.

She had learned that darkness had a voice of its own, simply sitting next to her and watching. Except, it had no eyes. Death knows all but has no mind. It comforts her in the silence of the room and awaits its last move, while she has none.

Never did.

"It's almost your turn, little lamb." It sneered, its sharp teeth flashing in her mind. "Just wait. Just wait." It changed, laughing manically. It craved to ruin her soul and she refused to let it.

Lilith felt like she was fading, like her soul was turning black.

Becoming empty.

"You want to know the last thing I said to your mother before she died, little lamb?" Lilith fought against the shadows holding her. She could feel the tendrils of darkness wrap around her suffocatingly. Death appeared in front of her, death and mold scenting the air.

"I said this is my design, right before I snapped the last string of her life. All I had to do was wind her up and watch her go." Death smirked and grabbed the child's face.

"The very air has screams smeared on it." Death spoke and the young girl screamed against the voices, they were so loud. So much Death, so much pain.

"You're my prodigy, little lamb. Embrace the death." Death taunted and shoved her into the darkness, the girl screamed and screamed until Bloodhair rushed in to comfort her. Her hair stuck to her father's neck, her eyes bloodshot, and her heart beating faster than it ever has. Bloodhair would always remember this moment, the moment his eight-year-old daughter cried her eyes out as she was haunted by the screams of death.

"I think I found the Christian's hell, father." Bloodhair shushed her quietly as he rocked her back and forth in his arms.

"You are safe, Tilly. As long as I live, no harm will come to you." He promised as he stroked her hair softly.

"Don't leave me." She begged as she clutched her father tighter.

"I wouldn't dream of it. Only something wicked could pull me from you." He spoke confidently and hearing the statement she relaxed against him.

And even years later, death followed. She did learn how to adapt to this curse from the gods. She knew that when her nose bled someone she loved would die. And she knew that if her head began to throb in pain death was inevitable, sometimes she wondered how she fared being a dane and the torturer of men.

Instead of letting it break her, she embraced it. She allowed the darkness to consume her to the point she cared about very little. Her father is the last piece of humanity she has left.

She has burned villages to the ground for something as simple as an insult tossed her father's way, and she has killed multiple clans of Vikings for a brief lustful look at her body.

She was a proud hater of men. And she vowed to never change that. But she was also very against the blonde cunt that has bewitched her father.

"Must you allow her to mock you, father?" Lilith said as she propped her boot-covered feet on his lap, Skade was off with her rituals and runes, Bloodhair placed a hand on her ankle lightly and shot her a look of disapproval. She groaned at that and unsheathed her dagger to avoid looking at him, she placed the tip at her finger and twisted it lightly.

She gasped in mock betrayal when he jerked it from her hands and placed it on his table next to them, he gently looked at her finger and realized her pale skin was painted with crimson liquid. It was beautiful.

Her father did not think so.

"I wish you would stop this. It worries me, Tilly." She smiled softly at the nickname before frowning.

"I did not mean to, I swear it!" She assumed that didn't make it any better if the look on his face said anything.

"If you truly do not like her, I will release her to someone else. I do not want to lose you, you are always going to be my first priority." She reached for his hand and held it in hers, she couldn't fight the bubbling guilt that filled her. He has given up so much for her and she couldn't bear to be more of a burden than she already was.

"That is not what I said. I do not hate her," I do. "I just worry she will hurt you, father. You are all I have and if she is what you want, I will tolerate her. But only because of you." Lilith felt him lean in to kiss her forehead softly, she curled up in his arms and sighed in contentment.

She loved her father more than life itself.
