The day before

Lilith/Third's Pov: (Sitting in the Car)

Lilith lit her cigarette while watching her boss/mother figure, Maybelle Laurie. They had just returned from helping a fellow witch of hers in Rome. Maybelle had to lower the window as she watched her apprentice/daughter smoke, blowing it out the window. Her nails tapped the armrest as she waited for her mother figure to pull into her grandmother's driveway.

"You know your Grams will not like that you are smoking," Maybelle tells her as she turns down their street.

"What she doesn't know won't hurt her?" Lilith says with a grin.

"When Sheila let me finish up your teaching, she told me to never let anything influence you. How do you think she will feel if she does see your influence?" Maybelle said as she pulled into her grandmother's driveway.

"She will most certainly kick my ass, magic or not." Lilith finished the cigarette before throwing the bud out.

"And she would kick my ass too." Maybelle scoffed before they both got out of the car. The door already had opened, showing the woman what they were just talking about.

"Is that my baby girl?" Shelia smiled at her beautiful granddaughter as she stepped out the door.

"Grams," Lilith smiled before walking up the stairs to hug her. They held each other tight as Sheila got teary. She had missed her granddaughter so much. Sheila pressed kisses to her cheek as she welcomed her home. Sheila had pulled back.

"Let me get a good look at you." Sheila smiled as she looked over her granddaughter.

Lilith knew she had put on a few pounds. Maybelle had helped her buy a whole wardrobe that fitted her body type. The dress had fitted her just right, and her heels had made her look taller. Sheila saw her baby's crown; her afro curls covered her eyes, but her granddaughter was used to the hair by now. She's been growing it since she was in middle school. Maybelle had handed her her bags as they made their way inside.

Her grandmother's house still looked the same. Decorated in a homey yet causal style, her bookcase hid their grimoires in plain sight. They don't have anyone over anyway, so no one would know. She set her bag down as she sat on the couch.

"Where is Bonnie?" Lilith asked as she looked around for her sister. Her sister Bonnie was an interesting character, to say the least. She had two friends, Elena Gilbert and Caroline Forbes; she didn't know why her sister was friends with them. Elena had everything—from parents to being a cheerleader to dating the biggest quarterback. She lives a great life, something she kind of envied the girl for. And Caroline Forbes, head cheer captain, on the homecoming committee, blah blah. The girl got busy, but even she knew she was jealous of her friend. They just didn't fit in the friendship together.

"Elena's parents died. They went over the wickery bridge; the only one that survived was Elena herself. Bonnie has been comforting her." Sheila told her granddaughter, who she could tell misses her sister.

Sheila had warned Lilith to stay away from Bonnie until she had fully controlled her powers. She was nine when her powers showed up. When she did tell Grams, she said she would teach her all she knew, but she would have to distance herself from Bonnie. Grams didn't want to let Bonnie know about magic. So, she kept to her promise of grams and distanced herself from her big sister.

"Wow, I'm sorry that happened to her. When is Bonnie supposed to be home?" Lilith questioned her grandmother as she brought them tea.

"Later, I hope. You know with the new year of school starting." Grams smiled as they drank tea.

"Okay, I was hoping. We could catch up." Lilith softly smiled. She stirred her tea before putting it down. She was used to her being like this. Or at least she should've been. Lilith stood up.

"I'm going to go settle in; don't wait up," Lilith tells them before leaving up the stairs.

Maybelle/Third's Pov: (Sitting in Sheila's living room)

They had watched her leave. Maybelle knew Lilith was hurt; she had been wanting to talk to Bonnie about why she had to distance herself from her. Sheila turned back to look at her.

"I should've known this would happen. When I asked her to distance herself from Bonnie, I should've known that this would happen. They are only a year apart. I was surprised that she even gained her powers so young. She was a prodigy, much like our ancestors." Sheila told her, feeling sorry for her youngest granddaughter.

"When you told me to take over her teachings because she aces just about everything you gave her. Lilith is brilliant; her IQ is 140, and she has been an A's student since she started school. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to magic." Maybelle told the older woman.

"And how was the job?" Sheila asked.

"It was quick. She performed the right spell, and she got a vacation out of it," Maybelle responded before she looked at the time.

"That's good. I'm proud of her." Shelia smiled.

"Well, thank you for having me, Ms. Sheila. I'll get going. " Maybelle and Shelia got up, and she started walking towards the door.

"You're welcome, and thank you for being there for my granddaughter." Shelia smiled at her.

"I love that girl like my own," Maybelle says before saying goodbye and leaving.

Shelia/Third's Pov

She had closed the door as she cleaned up the tea cups and prepared for bed. She could hear the shower coming from her granddaughter's room before closing her door. Not knowing that her granddaughter was making an amulet of protection.

Lilith/Third's Pov: (Lilith's Room)

Lilith's body was covered in a towel as she grabbed her favorite necklace. Sitting it in the middle of her table. Her white candles lit at the wordless command before she put her hand over the amulet. She took a deep breath before chanting

"Dies noctesque incolumes. divino protectus lumine."

"Dies noctesque incolumes. divino protectus lumine."

"Dies noctesque incoloumes. divino protectus lumine."

As the amulet started to glow softly before stopping. Lilith smiled before humming to go take a shower; she had a great debut to make tomorrow.
