Chapter 2: Hunting The Hunter

"Okay. Dismissed" I have an affirmative nod. He pursed his lips and nodded as well.

Now I was left alone in my room, hungry, bored and full of energy.

"Hmm. What to do, what to do" I flopped on my back on to the bed and stared at my extremely entertaining ceiling.

I flexed my arm and looked down at my arms. Guns my inner voice corrected. I chuckled to myself. Oh how I enjoy that mini me inside my head at times. Other times, excuse my French, she's a bitch; doubting me, listing all my insecurities, insulting me and what not.

Then I pointed my toes a few times, tossed and turned as my feet hung off sideways on my bed. I sighed a few more times and flicked my bed frame for absolutely no apparent reason. It hurt my white polished manicured nail more than I expected as it connected with the pretty white wood, I shook out my hand aggravated with myself yet again. Oh the limits pure boredom could drive you to.

I wanted to do something, impatient and growing bored with a lack of entertainment I stood up and wondered if I should grab a jacket or not. I stared at my closet for a few seconds before I made up my mind that a little wind would not matter that much. I then turned on my heel and headed out the door. I started to walk down the hallway, it was decent sized, about fifty feet long. Along the way I tied my full brown hair back into a messy ponytail with a black elastic I had around my wrist.

I swear I have bought so many of them, thousands maybe, and I only have 4 currently, placed in strategic positions around my room that may or may not still be there. I let out a puff of air with a smile thinking about how truly weird that is. But then, probably every girl, vamp or not, (goddess forbid I get hair in my face) experiences this.

By the time I reached the door the sun had lowered a good amount. Jace was coming in, a bit tired from running all the way back to deposit the body and from the amount of sunlight spilling in from the recent door it was a pretty educated guess. It was probably late afternoon now.

We can go out into daylight, though, we still had limited time before the power drained from the object that allowed us to.

Me, I had a bracelet.

An Alex and Ani bracelet with an anchor charm that I had chosen when I was young and had ever since. It could have been anything really, the twins had rings. But still, we only had given time in the sun before we had to give the dark magic a break, also because the sun was not as strong I had about a solid hour and that was plenty for me for outside time before the sun actually did set and there would be no restrictions.

He stood in the doorway and steps to the side, holding the door open for me. "Thank you" I said with a curt nod, grabbing my hands behind my back, I started to make my way out.

I was hurrying out I got a quick tap on the bum from him. I squeaked in surprised and it only made me bolt out of his reach. As I was doing so I heard his light chuckle and my face only slightly heated up.

I walked out of the cemetery following the paved paths hoping to get rid of the lifeless smell that I recently realized how much I hated. The wind was nippy, it was warm but the wind gave me chills. Yes, it was tempting to spare a few minutes to dig up an easy meal but I had my morals, unlike others because to them 'food is food.' I could smell the fresh overturned soil, from a fresh burial. The scent of decay picked up by my specialized senses started to set my brain on overdrive.

I walked deep into the woods just looking and watching anything in particular.

I saw a small white fluffy tail bob throughout the bushes. My stomach instantly fluttered in anticipation, rabbit was my absolute favorite. I froze for about five minutes before it took a hop closer to me out of curiosity, even though it was a good ten feet away.

I lunged at it and grabbed it by the ears, holding it up while it was thrashing. It kicked and kicked, multiple times I had to readjust my grip.

Deciding I had tired it out enough, I hugged it close to my body letting out small cooing noises, petting its head to give it at least a sense of security before it passed. But as I was hugging it I tightened the grip swiftly and with a powerful jerk and a small audible crack sounded throughout an approximate ten foot radius.

It's eyes glazed over, a soulless look threatening my appetite that I could not possibly lose at this state. So, I closed them and squeezed my eyes shut in skull splitting pain as a new row of fangs grew in over all my pearly whites.

With the wonderful aroma of prey I leaned down at the same time I brought it up to my face, feeding hungrily.

The sweet, fresh life force poured down my throat and I could feel my energy rejuvenating. It was wonderful. My eyes fluttered and my stomach growled for more but the now once steady flow slowed down to a slow trickle. It was good, and it definitely didn't last long enough.

I wish I could have drank when I had the chance but there was that little voice that said there was something off about feeding something that looked the same as me that put me on edge. The others always explained how incredibly powerful you felt as someone's life was in your hands and how you can watch their life leave their eyes, like a handful of sand, slipping out in all the possible places. That is what I could not do. You would have to be very far gone in my book to do that.

I stood up and walked a few steps until I felt softer ground and buried the rabbit. The little bunny deserved it, and because our kind was completely not connected with nature, nearly the opposite, I decided to do my part.

But now I was stuck there with blood dripping down my face and dirt covering my hands.

Just perfect! Note the sarcasm.

I looked around for anything to clean myself up with, I sighed in frustration as nothing came up.

I sniffed the air, absolutely desperate. I should have really thought this out.

Well, I wiped my hands out on my jeans. When it dries it would come off dusty. I then just picked up any dry, but still alive, leaf and wiped the majority of blood off with that.

Now with the blood gone from basically under my nose I smelt something. I instantly froze. I knew what it was.

Was I really that far out? No. I could not have been.

Then those mutts must have expanded their territory.

I was knocked out of the trance by rustling in the woods. And upon instinct I started to take fast steps backward. I took a few and started to run.

I took seven steps.

I counted. It was something to keep my mind off of the unknown number of monster wolves chasing me.

I heard paw steps and before I knew it a vicious snarl sounded behind me. I froze. I could out run it.

RUN! RUN! RUN! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? My consciousness screamed. I should have really listened to that voice telling my to but being the bright one I am I turned around and faced it. I could feel my body prepare itself for a battle as my pupils dilated, my senses heightened and my heart rate significantly increased. But my dignity would not allow me to run, even if it meant facing death.

Two wolves. A silver, with a light tan tint for highlights in its seemingly perfect coat, and a black one, with the same grey wolf coloring but the shades of grey were dark. The black one was smaller but it still nearly reached my shoulder, the silver one did reach my shoulder. Both of them had drool dripping out of their muzzle and snot running from their noses. Both of them were panting heavily, most likely from a run before this.

They started at me and squared their stance and snarled. I flinched back but I kept my ground for that most part. They started at me waiting for something. "I'll be on my way" I spat looking at the mutts in disgust.

I looked closer to the silver wolf that dared to take a step closer to me. It was him. The eyes. Those hazel eyes.

I stumbled back, nearly losing my balance. It can be. But it was him.

I hissed at him in disbelief, allowing my fangs to grow in.

"You" I said in udder disbelief. "Y-your dead" I said beyond belief.

It crouched down and rose as a man in black basketball shorts. "Well guess again blood sucker" he spat.

Come on be strong! Show them who is strong!

"Oh. Well I'm more than a blood sucker. I'm what every vampire strives to be" I explained, he didn't know. And lack of his knowledge is what I would use against him.

"How so?" He lifted his chin as he looked down at my smaller frame.

"Well I am in broad daylight, am I not?" I smirked.

"What are you and what's your name?" He raised his eyebrows and opened his mouth slightly.

" 'Why should I tell you?' " I mocked his words in an unrealistic tone. "This is when you snap my neck and throw be back where you found me" I whispered to the both of them and they snarled in response. But then they didn't move, "Well I'll be on my way then, 'kay?" And with that I ran through the forest as fast as I could, looking just like a blur passing through the forest with my inhuman speed. I heard their footsteps behind me. And it only made me speed forward faster. I ran until I caught the familiar dead scent. For once in a long time I was happy to smell it.

I approached the cemetery and the living quarters. I started to pull at the door and it swiftly opened. I ran in calling out to no one in particular "No more hunting where the mutts live!"

Soo here is the second chapter! :)

Ok so the character for the dude with green eyes will be Theo James. I didn't want to put him up as a character because then you would figure out his name. Lilith is the girl on the cover and that's about it!
