🦇1. Dupain-Cheng-Alexandru.🦇
Daria Alexandru.
As I walk down the streets of Paris France, I can feel my seeing eye dog stop, so I followed his silent warning and could hear cars passing in front of us. My dog guides me everywhere, but I don't need his help 24/7. I can use my eyes, but not always. Today is one of those bad days where my eyes go completely black and I can't see anything. Ironic how this happened today of all days when I'm supposed to go and meet my distant family and live with them. It should wear off by tomorrow, then I'll have most of my sight back for at least a week, if I'm lucky. Lupine started to walk again, and I listened as cars were stopped to let us cross. He led me to the other side of the street and paused a moment as I got out a map that showed where my distant Aunt's home was. I listened closely to see if anyone was close by to ask directions.
"Pardon Me, Monsieur, do you happen to know where the Dupain-Cheng Bakery is?" I ask politely, stopping a nearby man.
"Oh, yes, I do. I am actually the owner, Tom. I'm actually on my way back from the store. Follow me." The man, Tom says in a friendly tone.
"You heard the man, Lupine, follow him." I say, already feeling him start to follow. I held the handle of my bag tighter as we went.
"If I may ask, where are you from? I don't think I know your accent." Tom asks curiously as he walks beside me on the way to his Bakery.
"I'm from Transylvania, sir." I say politely as Lupin slows down and guides me through a small crowd of people. Tom places a hand on my shoulder so that we don't get lost from him before we get out of it.
"Oh, please call me Tom. Would you like me to carry your bag?" Tom asks politely and I nod in thanks. He gently takes it from me. "Is it alright if I ask why you're going to the bakery? I don't mind the business, but we're actually closed today." Tom explains his confusion.
"Oh, I am looking for my distant Aunt. My mother had her address listed at the Dupain-Cheng Bakery. I am Daria Alexandru."
"Daria? I think I've heard my wife, Sabine, mention a Daria before."
"Sabine? That's my Aunt's name in fact. So, you're my distant Uncle Tom?" I ask as he opens the door to the bakery for me and Lupine.
"I believe so. Why don't you take a seat and I'll go get Sabine."
"Alright." I nod, sitting in a booth with Lupine as Tom places my suitcase on the side of the booth. I pet Lupine to keep myself busy.
"Maman, papa! I'm Home!" I hear a girl say from the entrance of the bakery. "Oh, I'm sorry, I think the bakery is closed today, miss."
"Yes, Tom told me that when he was walking me here. Are you Tom and Sabine's Daughter?" I ask politely as Lupine stiffens slightly.
"Oh, yes. I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Who are you?"
"I am Daria Alexandru. I'm pretty sure I am your distant cousin."
"Daria?!" I hear a woman shout not far from me. "Oh! Honey it's so good to see you! I haven't seen you since you were 4!" The woman gushes.
"Hello Aunt Sabine." I say, standing and smiling at the older bluenette.
"Oh How I've missed you, Daria! Come, let's get you and your things upstairs!" She says excitedly as Tom grabs my bags and Marinette holds the doors open for us as Sabine and Lupine guide me upstairs into the living room. "Marinette, this is my niece, your cousin, Daria Alexandru."
"It's lovely to meet you, officially, Marinette." I say with a bright smile. "I hope I'll get to see how you and Tom look by tomorrow."
"Uh, what do you mean?" Marinette asks confusedly.
"I am blind at the moment, on really bad days my sight is gone for a day or two, then it's back for about a week before it's gone again." I explain.
"Oh." Marinette says softly, and I could feel someone petting Lupine.
"That's Lupine, my seeing eye dog and companion." I introduce.
"He's lovely." Marinette compliments and I feel Lupine's tail wag.
"I'm sure he appreciates the attention and compliments." I giggle before we all sit on the couch and talk about ourselves and where I would be staying–in Marinette's room with her just until Sabine finishes my room.
"Papa took your bags upstairs for you, would you like to go and rest for a little while before dinner?" Marinette asks with some nervousness.
"Sure. Thank you." I say as she gently guides me upstairs as Lupine stays downstairs in his doggy bed in the living room.
"Watch the last step." Marinette says as she helps me over it. She then sits me down on the little couch up here and then I can hear her running around the room. "Uh, do you want a blanket or something?"
"Yes please. Could I ask what model is that?" I inquire and she freezes.
"W-What? What do you mean?" Marinette says worriedly.
"The pictures you're taking down. I assume it's a model, especially one you like, since you're panicking about anyone seeing them. I can also sense there's a sewing machine in here, along with various fabrics."
"Oh... yeah... his name is Adrien Agreste. He goes to my school and I'm a really big fan of his father's designs." She says quickly. "B-but I don't like him or anything!"
"Mhmm... hey, Marinette? Can you go downstairs and make sure your parents know where Lupine's food is?" I ask, wanting some alone time.
"Sure. You can call me Mari, by the way." She says cheerfully.
"Ok. Thanks, Mari." I give her a nod and she closes the trap door leading into the room. "You can come out now, Luuci. We're alone."
"Oh, thank you, Mistress." Luuci says, floating up and onto my shoulder.
"What have we discussed, little one? My name is Daria, please use it, not Mistress, master, or anything like that. I am a friend, not your owner."
"But you are the owner of the Bat miraculous for the time being."
"While that may be true, it gives me no right, or any other miraculous holder the right, to hold you kwami's against your will or force you to call us your masters." I tell the small midnight red colored Kwami.
"I sense someone coming, Mis–Daria." She starts but doesn't say that dreaded word at the sight of my glare that I know I sent her exact way.
"Hide, Luuci, it could be Mari or her parents." I tell her, and she hides in the black bow on my blood red dress. I adjusted my fishnet leggings while maneuvering my hand to grab my cane just in case.
"Daria, I checked with Maman and papa, they know where Lupine's food and other necessities are. They also told me that when you get your eyesight back, you'd be starting school the next day, unless you get it early in the morning of a school day of course..." Mari trails off.
"Thank you, Mari." I say as she hands me a folded blanket. "I'm sure I can manage by myself, if you have any homework to do before bed?"
"Oh, no. I do have some designs to touch up though. Are you sure you'll be okay?" Marinette double checks, badly hiding her worry.
"I'll be fine. I'm just going to change and then be off to bed, if that's alright?" I tell her and I can hear her pigtails rustle as she nods.
"Oh! Sorry, yes, that's okay. I can set up a clothing divider if you'd like privacy?" Marinette offers as she heads over to grab said thing.
"No, I have nothing to hide, as we are both females. Unless you mind?"
"No, that's fine. I'll just be facing this way for my designs." She says, obviously facing away and at a wall at her desk holding her sewing kit.
"Alright." I stand and begin to carefully undress, being sure to gently fold and place my dress down beside my suitcase as I grab a pair of pajamas for bed. I didn't want to accidentally harm Luuci, although she was a somewhat invincible being. When I was done, I could tell Mari had, in fact, snuck a peek of my bare back, probably seeing some scars. She didn't mention them though. "Goodnight, Marinette."
"Night, Daria." Marinette says softly, and I could sense a shift of the lighting as she turned the lights down some, and I could hear hushed whispers from where she sat. I took no mind of it, reaching to my dress and grabbing Luuci gently and placing her against my chest, where she liked to sleep. I made sure she was covered so Mari wouldn't see.
