Chapter 1: New Friends, Old Enemies

R.I.P. Queen Elizabeth the 2nd & Tessa Majors. May they rest in peace.

Rudyard Lake, a boat house on the lakeside, it's small, old-fashioned, but well looked after.

In the front bedroom on the upper level, the curtains are drawn so people from the Lake couldn't see in.

Soft snoring can be heard from within the house as we zoom in on the window.

The room is pitch black until a bright light from a mobile phone lights it up. It continues to buzz loudly until a hand emerges from the covers to try and stop the alarm.

The hand searches the table where the phone is for the device, but with no luck, it nocks off everything else but the phone and still can't locate it.

The covers are thrown back along with a tangled mass of caramel-colored hair and the same arm stops the alarm before the covers are pulled back to the way they were before.

"Thea! Get up!" A voice calls from downstairs.

The covers are pushed back once again to reveal a young girl around 19 years old.

She had long caramel-colored hair, chocolate-brown eyes, small ears, and a sharp jawline. She sat up to show her slim shoulders and equally slim but quite muscular arms.

The girl climbed down from her bed and over to the bathroom, not revealing much about her figure but that she had a slim waist, a large bust, and semi-wide hips. She shut the bathroom door behind her and emerged minutes later with her hair messily brushed out of her face, the front hanging loosely around her jawline, and the rest in a braid.

She was wearing black ripped jeans, they had multiple rips all over the legs, and knee-high studded Converse boots. She fastened the buckles on her top and tightened her gloves before fixing her earrings into place and tucking her necklace into her top. She admired her collection of choker necklaces before picking out a Yin-Yang one and putting it around her neck.

She smirked at her appearance before turning and bounding downstairs to meet her dad and stepmother.

"morning trouble" her dad, Alf, smiled at her.

Alf was a medium-height and build oldish man with short grey hair, he had a kind but wicked smile and dashing blue eyes. set back from his face by the subtle wrinkles around his eyes. His big pinkish ears stuck out like an elephant's, he had quite a bit of muscle in his arms but still a bit of a belly.

His JCB uniform consisted of a black polo shirt with horrible yellow stripes on the collar and sleeves, black and grey trousers/pants with half a dozen pockets in them, and his black steel toe-cap boots.

"Morning Dad" she smirked back

"you. wash the dishes then get ready for school" her highly annoying stepmother barked at her.

Thea's stepmother, Chloe, was nice for about a month when she first moved in. Then she started being a pain and hasn't stopped. She has short blonde hair that just about touched her chin and lips so red you could tell it was lipstick, her eyes were an icy blue, reflecting the warmth or lack of, in her heart.

She was a short and fairly chubby woman who looked to be in her mid-40s but was only 34. She was wearing a pink dress with the same pink low-heeled shoes, the same outfit every day, only in different shades of pink, Today was a rather sweet magenta or hot pink.

"Yuck," Thea told herself quietly.

Completely ignoring her stepmother she turned around and began to make her breakfast.

"Oi freak! are you dead?" her stepmother spat.

"Chloe, remember what i told you about being nice to Thea this week" Alf interrupted.

"why? She's never nice to me?" Chloe remarked.

"Once upon a time i was, and no i'm not dead, but you're dumb" Thea smirked at Chloe

"Why you little-" Chloe began but Thea cut her off

"freak? yes. shit? I'll take it. disrespectful bitch? getting colder" Thea remarked

"ok ok don't start a fight. Thea, what time do you have to be at Kilnworx?" Alf asked

"Jin wants me there for 10 but i promised Callum a lift" Thea smiled.

"Get going then it's half nine now" Alf warned.

Thea glanced up at the clock on the wall in disbelief before making the cereal and the milk levitate towards her in a rush. She pulled her coat on and grabbed her climbing bag, bike helmet, and keys before rushing out the door.

"Leave the milk!" Alf shouted as the door slammed shut. "Or don't" he added as the sound of a motorbike engine could be heard.

(15 minutes later)

Thea pulled to a stop outside a small townhouse in Leek, the closest town to Rudyard and where most of the village goes for work.

She stepped off her bike, pulled off her helmet, and ran up to the house.

She knocked on the door and an old lady answered, she looked to be in her mid-70s with sparking silver hair and a wrinkly but still loving smile.

"Hi Emma, is Callum still here?" Thea asked politely.

"Still here? lazy bugger is still in bed" Emma smiled.

"Does he need to wake up?" Thea asked, this time with a little smirk.

"Yes he does, Go and jump on him for me" Emma smirked back. as she stepped out of the way to let Thea into the house.

This wasn't unusual. Thea calling at Callum's house. most Wednesdays, every other Sunday, every 3rd Friday, and every 4th Monday. She used to be around more, but not for him. No. For his twin brother. Will.

Thea ran up the stairs and knocked on Callum's bedroom door. "you have 10 seconds to get decent by whatever means possible. Then i'm coming in" she warned before turning away and leaning on the door. No escape now

The big photo opposite her on the landing was the main reason she hated this place now.

(flashback 6 months ago)

"i fancy somewhere different for the walk tonight. say, view of Leek via Rabbit Run?" Will smiled, his glasses nearly falling off his face.

"yeah! Let's go!" Thea smiled and pulled his hand towards the door.

(end of flashback)

Again, couldn't take her eyes off him, dirty blonde hair falling messily to his shoulders, pale blue-grey-green eyes framed behind his big round silver glasses, and his smile. The one thing she missed the most. that smile. It meant the world to her once. Now she couldn't look at a picture without breaking down in tears.

"Gran, i told you don't disturb me until Thea gets here, that way you can talk to her while i get ready." Callum whined opening the door only to be met with a glare. "sorry i didn't-" he began but it was no use.

"hurry up get dressed we're leaving soon" Thea ordered and threw a T-shirt at him.

"Yes mam" Callum replied mockingly and shut his door with the shirt in hand.

You'd never believe they were identical twins. Callum and Will. Callum was tall, fairly muscular, quick on his feet, a bit of a flirt sometimes, but not unreasonable. His short curly dirty blonde hair looked a mess whatever he did with it, his eyes were more green than Will's and Callum was a bit broader.

Will, on the other hand, his hair was as neatly bushed as he could, to his shoulders, never any further, he was also quite tall, but incredibly skinny. Way too shy to flirt with anyone and a fun nerd.

"Sorry about you know what" Callum apologised stepping out of his room.

"Show me you're sorry by hurrying up" Thea snapped turning away and walking downstairs.

"OK ok, let me brush my teeth and we can go" he replied wandering off.

(30 minutes later)

"Cal, look at the time Jin told us to be here nearly an hour ago" Thea growled as she stopped the engine.

"What do you expect me to say? Sorry, i was busy choking on my toothbrush because i fell over while doing my laces and brushing my teeth?" he asked sarcastically.

"you go in and apologize,  i want to check my bike" Thea ordered

"Yeah fine, happily," Callum replied and walked away

Thea watched him leave before turning back to her bike. She then stuffed her helmet into her rucksack and began checking the tires when the sound of a much more expensive engine could be heard.

That was the moment it came around the corner. And it was a beautiful machine. A Harley Davidson V-rod Night Rod Special. Signature to the combat superstar Dante Hasselhoff. It matched the description of the bike owned by the celebrity fighter perfectly. Low handlebars, smooth tires, shiny black paint, and an extremely well-cared-for engine with a purr.

"Wow," Thea said to herself as it sailed past.

That was the main thing after his god-like build people remembered about the celebrity fighter, his love of tinkering with cars and bikes.

It began to slow down after it passed Thea as she watched in wonder as the beautiful machine came to a stop 25 meters away from her.

It was when the rider of the bike got off that it clicked. That wasn't a fan-made replica of Dante Hasselhoff's bike. And the rider wasn't a cosplayer either. It was the real deal.

A wicked smile sped across Thea's face, she was going to meet her favorite celebrity.

Dante was only 14 when he became famous, all with one punch. He had gotten into a fight at school with the bullies, they'd been picking on his friend. And the lead bully was the son of America's biggest crime boss at the time.

Dante knocked him out with one punch.

For the next 14 years, he was undefeated in every fight. He traveled with his high school sweetheart. Tessa. Then one day, Dante and Tessa disappeared. Dante sold most of his cars, bikes, and his houses. And no one has heard from him since.

The biker looked to be around 6ft 4inch tall with wide muscular shoulders, arms, back, and well all over. His head and face were obstructed by his tinted black helmet he didn't want any attention. He was dressed in all black leather, with his black helmet, and black biker boots.

The biker walked towards Thea, of course, he could just be stopping off and going into the nearby shop but that wasn't likely. This was the most dead-end of Stoke-On-Trent there was.

Thea then began to act like she was checking the tires on her bike, being careful to catch the stranger at exactly the right moment.

"Nice ride" she smiled at the stranger without thinking.

"Thanks," they replied in a deep male voice with an unusual mix of American and French accents. "This yours?" he asked. With his helmet still on she couldn't see his face.

"Yes, it's not nearly as flashy or fancy as yours but it does the job" she smiled.

"you have a nail in the front tire" he informed pointing to it.

"Wait, what? Thanks" Thea half smiled at him. She pulled her bag off her back and began to try and get the nail out.

She couldn't risk using her 'abilities' in front of a total stranger, he'd think she was a witch and run off screaming.

"you have a gift, why don't you use it?" the stranger asked. Play dumb her brain said.

"What gift?" she asked doing her best-confused face.

"if i tell you a secret will you tell me yours?" he asked, sitting down next to her.

"Hold on, i just met you, i said you have a nice bike and now you want me to tell you a secret? Thanks but I'll just fix my bike" she smiled turning back to the nail in her tire.

"OK see you later then" he smiled as he stood up and walked away.

"Bye," she sarcastically smiled as he left. "If that was Dante i didn't expect him to be so, forward. Guess that's why they say never meet your heroes" she remarked. She eventually decided it was best to leave it until she could pry it out with tweezers back home. She got up from the floor and walked into Kilnworx.

"Thea, you'll be teaching a Dante bouldering, get your shoes on he's waiting" Jin smiled.

"want me to sign in? apologize for being late. Make you a tea to make up for it?" she asked dropping her bag on the floor and pulling out her climbing shoes and chalk bag.

"no need, I'll get Callum to sort that. Can't keep a customer waiting" Jin reminded.

"OK sign me in please and I'll put my signature on there once i'm done." Thea smiled running off.

"so Jin told me I'd have one of the best instructors here, Who is it?" Dante asked.

Dante looked to be in his mid-20s with sandy blonde hair and ocean-blue eyes. His fitted T-shirt showed off his god-like build well, his extremely muscular arms on show to the world.

"probably Thea, she's Jin's favorite, a bit of a bitch at times, one of the boss' favorites because she can drive as is sometimes here early, and always gets the job done. and a good friend of You'll like her, she's a bit of a weirdo but she has her nice moments" Callum replied

"ok, I'll take all of those" Thea commented stepping into the bouldering room.

"Where did you come from?" Calum asked, almost shocked at his friend's appearance.

"Outside, why?" Thea asked looking at different routes around the room.

"Jin told me to look after Dante until you got in here, then told me to go back to him," Callum reported standing up from the floor.

"Dante?" Thea asked.

"me" Dante smiled from the floor behind Thea.

"oh hello, didn't see you there sorry" Thea smiled.

It was THE Dante Hasselhoff.

Same build as the biker, different outfit, completely different. This guy was wearing a black T-shirt, sweatpants, black climbing shoes, and what looked to be Callum's old bright orange fish chalk bag.

Thea rolled her eyes. "Always avoiding me now, ever since Will." she thought.

"so you're my instructor, gonna teach me?" Dante asked standing up. He towered over Thea, a lot.

After 4 hours of climbing, laughing, and talking they were too tired to climb so they just sat on the floor and talked.

"so where are you from? Because no offense but you're not exactly local" Thea asked as Callum fell off the roof, again.

"Well, i'm half American and half French, i'm proud of both sides of my heritage. I'm sure you know i was pretty famous for a long time, then it all got too much and i went into hiding." Dante explained.

"Fair enough, i couldn't handle it if i was famous, the main reason i don't want to be" Thea laughed.

"don't, it isn't all it's cracked up to be," Dante replied, almost laughing himself.

"so where are you staying?" Thea asked, this guy was a living legend, she needed an address and contact number, he'd be able to teach her so much about the forms she was studying, he'd studied them all.

"Any B&B or Hotel i can find and will let me rock up and stay the night, only one night though, never any longer or someone could find me and that would be it, cover blown" Dante explained.

"you could stay at mine, i live in a quiet village, no one will bother you there, i promise." Thea smiled.

"Really? You'd let me stay at yours? I'd put some towards the bills of course, but really?" Dante asked in shock

"Yeah, if you need somewhere to stay, it's not very glamorous, It's not a new build but it's watertight, and warm, mostly," Thea replied. "And don't worry about rent or anything until you're working, it's no bother" Thea smiled.

"can i stay too?" Callum asked smiling cheekily.

"no! And once you've passed your driving test you can get your vehicle to bring you here, save me a lot of time and fuel," Thea remarked. Dante burst out laughing at the pair.

"Aww, i thought you loved me" Callum replied making a heartbroken face so fake you almost believed it.

"no, this might be news to you but i have standards," Thea smirked back.

"oi! What's not to like, i'm smart, i'm sporty, i'm good-looking, i'm not a prick, i think i'm low maintenance and i am a great cook!" Callum replied.

"Your lack of common sense, and you are high maintenance, very high maintenance" Thea informed him.

"me? high maintenance? never!" Callum replied acting fakely offended, this wasn't news to him.

"don't even get me started on your lack of dress sense or sense of humour," Thea smirked.

While the pair continued to argue, sort of. Dante snook away. Smiling.  He knew Thea was something special, and not just because she was interested in motor vehicles, but more so for the fact she had some kind of superhuman DNA in her, like him. All he needed to do was find out the extent of it. He made sure no one was looking before he conjured several small dark purple flames in the palm of his hand.
