        "Someone check behind her ear!"

"Behind her ear? No! What's wrong with you? Check her pulse. Make sure she's breathing!"

"She's obviously breathing, dipshit. You can see the rising and falling of her chest," Ethan commented lazily.

"We can do both," a calm voice asserted. "Just try and wake her up or something. Isaac, we had to trigger the healing process with you and with him," Allison said, pointing a thumb back at Ethan. "So maybe we can do the same for her?"

Isaac sighed, "I don't get it, why would they even attack her? She's not a werewolf."

Allison huffed, "We don't have all of the answers, Isaac," she said in a hushed voice.

"Which is why I wanted to go to Scott in the first place," Isaac reminded her. "But you insisted that we give your dad twenty-four hours!"

"Can you guys stop your pointless fighting for one second and help me try and wake her up, please?" Lydia said exasperatedly.

"Well does she have the thing?" Isaac asked again.

Lydia blinked, "The thing? What thing?" she snapped.

"The little five behind her ear. It kind of looks like a tattoo, or some kind of burn mark," Isaac said quickly. "Does she have it?"

Lydia quickly tucked a piece of Meg's hair behind her ear and searched for the mark that Isaac was describing. Her fingers brushed over the small black mark. Lydia took a deep breath before responding, "It's there."

"Oh, shit," Isaac breathed. "We need to wake her up, like now!"

"Isn't that what I've been trying to say this entire time?" Lydia sassed.

Allison groaned, a little nervous by the lack of action from the group. "Just- someone do something!" she commanded. "Please!"

"Oh, she's gonna hate me for this," Isaac muttered before slapping the girl across the cheek as hard as he could.

"You bitch! You have super strength and you still opted to slap me across the face?!" Meg spat as she sat upright. "What did you do that for, and what the hell were those things that attacked me?" she asked quickly.

"I had to wake you up and we don't know," Isaac said slowly.

Meg blinked, "Aren't you guys supposed to know these things? You're like the supernatural experts on supernatural shit. And that thing I saw, it was supernatural."

"My dad's working on getting us more answers as we speak," Allison informed her. "But, Meg, we need to figure out why that thing might've attacked you."

Meg scratched the back of her head, "How should I know?" she lied. "I just came up here to get a drink and the next thing I know is I'm being fucking hypnotized by those- those monsters!"

Isaac sighed, "Well, we found her and Ethan-" he started, pointing to the twin that was standing silently behind the group. "Lydia was freezing out on the porch and now she's here, so who's left?" he asked.

Allison and Lydia exchanged nervous glances but didn't get a chance to speak as they all heard a commotion downstairs. Meg was the first one to speak, "What was that?" she said silently, trying to take the attention off of herself.

"I- I think Derek's back," Isaac said, jumping to his feet. "I just heard him."

"What?" Meg asked, brushing off the pieces of glass on her shirt and following Isaac down the stairs.

By the time she had reached the first floor of the loft, the party had seemed to clear out. She saw Derek in the middle of the floor, his eyes a bright blue. Meg rushed over to him, "Derek, what's going on?" she asked.

"What's going on is that you kids threw a party while I was going," he retorted.

"Technically, I didn't-" Meg started, but her voice trailed off as she saw something out of the corner of her eyes. It was the same thing that had attacked her minutes ago. They began materializing in every corner of the room. Meg backed up quickly, but they didn't seem to be bothered by her anymore. They all began marching toward Aiden, who was ready to put up a fight.

He was unable to do anything against the monster's attacks as they marched forward and placed their hands under his ears. Knocking him out in a similar fashion that they did to Meg. The monsters then rotated, staring at Kira and Scott, who looked like they had just come from the second floor. They began to walk forward but they began to dissolve into thin air as sunshine filled the room.

Scott gulped, "What were those things?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'd like that question answered as well," Meg added.

Isaac looked over at Allison, "Your dad's timer is up and he better have some answers," he said quickly.

"Okay, what the fuck is going on and why won't anyone tell me anything?" Meg asked desperately. "I just got attacked by one of those things and I still don't know why!" she complained, but it didn't seem like anyone was listening to her. "You all suck, I'm leaving!" she exclaimed, storming up to the door of the loft.

"Wait," someone said softly, tugging on her hand. "Are you okay?"

Meg turned around to see Kira standing behind her. "No," she said slowly. "I don't know what those things are, or why they went after me and all of the other supernaturals in Beacon Hills. Not saying that I'm one of them-"

"Hey, it's okay," Kira told her. "I already know, remember?"

"Yeah," Meg said with a small nod, remembering that Kira had seen her that night at the power station. "Do you think that's why they marked me?"

"Marked you?" Kira questioned.

"Yeah, yeah, there's a small mark behind my ear," Meg explained quickly, pushing back a section of her brown hair to show Kira. "I didn't know it was there until Isaac said something about it. But, if they marked me, whatever I am, and if they marked the wolves. Who else are they looking for?"

Kira took a deep breath in, "I have to show you something," she said slowly, dragging her out of the loft. "I've only shown this to Scott and you have to promise you won't show anyone else. That night at the power station, right before I saw you. Barrow took some pictures of me. I just got my phone back from the police station tonight and, I guess I should just show you." Kira unlocked her phone and pulled up a picture of herself. She had some interesting patterns exhibiting off of her skin. Meg couldn't really describe it, but it looked like she had an orange fox around her: protecting her.

"Oh, shit," Meg exhaled.

"You're not the only one who doesn't have it all figured out," Kira said quietly. "But if this thing, makes me supernatural. I think those things are gonna come after me next."

"You and Scott," Meg breathed.

Meg couldn't stop thinking about the photo that Kira had shown her earlier that evening. It was surprisingly confronting that Meg wasn't the only one who had no idea what she was doing. For the first time since she had gotten her powers, she didn't feel so alone.

"Meg. We need to have a chat."

Meg looked up into the eyes of the former alpha twins, Ethan and Aiden. Last month they were a part of the evil alpha pack that tried to kill her friends and ex. Meg was, well, less than civil with them. "Hmmm, if it isn't tweedle dee, and tweedle dumb," she sounded, folding her arms over one another. "What can I do for you?"

Aiden frowned, "I don't like her," he stated blankly.

"No one does," Ethan said out of the corner of his mouth.

Meg scoffed, "You know I don't need super-hearing to hear exactly what you said!"

"Okay, well how about this one," Aiden retorted. "Where is Scott?!" he asked quickly.

"Can't you just sniff around and track his scent?" Meg said, mocking the twins.

"We thought we would ask you first since he ran off with your little friend," Ethan explained.

Meg blinked, "My little friend? Who, exactly, are you talking about? Because Isaac is taller than both of you. It's honestly kind of funny."

Aiden's mouth dropped open, "That's- that's not true," he shuttered.

"Yeah, and it sounds like you're projecting right now," Meg pointed out, a smug smile spreading across her face.

"See, I would beat you up right now, but I'm scared of the repercussions," Aiden stated a sour look on his face.

"Also you're scared of her," Ethan added.

Aiden punched him in the side of the arm, "Dude!"

"What? You are!" Ethan replied defensively. "Look, those demon ninjas attacked her for a reason, and that can't be good."

"Pause," Meg said quickly. "You guys are calling them demon ninjas? That's so lame, holy shit," she scoffed. "Stiles could've done so much better-"

"This isn't about him!" Ethan said instantly. "This is about where Kira and Scott ran off to!"

"Also, whatever the hell you are, because apparently, you're something," Aiden added.

Meg completely disregarded what Aiden said, "Kira?" she questioned. "Did you just say, Kira?"

"Yes! That's who we were talking about when we said your little friend," Ethan said with a roll of his eyes. "Have you been paying attention? She went with Scott, do you happen to know why?"

"Shit," Meg said slowly. "They're on the run from those ninjas. It's obvious they're the people they are gonna go after next."

"I know," Aiden responded. "That's why we've been sticking with Scott all day, which is how I found out he was giving us the slip."

Meg nodded, "Okay. I see. As fun as this conversation has been. And believe me, I'm having a blast," she said sarcastically. "I actually have to go."

"Hmmm, you're gonna have to cancel those plans," Ethan said blankly.

Meg raised her brow, "And why is that?" she challenged.

"Because you are gonna help us with Scott and Kira," Aiden decided.

"And how did I get so lucky to get stuck with this exciting job," Meg said, sarcasm lacing her every word.

"Well, we can name off a few reasons for you," Ethan started.

"But the main one is we still don't know why those ninjas attacked you," Aiden finished. "So, we are killing two birds with one stone. Protecting Scott and keeping an eye on you."

Meg rolled her eyes, "Great. This is going to be one hell of a night."

¸.•.¸¸˚̣̣̣͙¨*˚̣̣̣͙¸¸.•.¸

Meg wasn't sure how long she was waiting outside of Scott's house and she wasn't exactly sure what they were waiting for. The twins were not helpful at all as they wouldn't tell her why she was just standing outside of Scott's house like a guard dog. They just kept side-eyeing her and exchanging nervous glances. Meg huffed, "Okay, what do you want to know?" she asked them finally.

"No, no, we don't want to know anything," Aiden said quickly.

"Nothing," Ethan added.

Meg pursed her lips, "Then why do you keep staring at me? Seriously, it's getting creepy," she pointed out. "If you're gonna ask me about the demon ninjas again then just do it already. This anticipation is killing me."

"It's not actually killing yo-"

"It's called sarcasm dumbass," Meg retorted quickly. "So either answer the question or stops sneaking weird glances at me."

Aiden sighed, "Do you have any idea why those ninjas would attack you?"

Meg frowned, she was getting tired of repeating herself. "For the last time, no," she lied. "I don't know why they would attack me!"

"Did you hear that quiver in her voice, Ethan?" Aiden asked quickly.

"I think I did, Aiden," he responded.

"Do you happen to know what that means?"

"It's honestly quite obvious."

Meg groaned, "Just shut up and stop being cryptic!" she snapped.

"You were lying earlier, we could hear your heartbeat," Aiden pointed out.

"So, do you wanna try and answer that question again?" Ethan asked. "With the truth this time?"

Meg clicked her tongue, "And why would I want to air out all of my dirty laundry to two has-been alphas who are so desperate to get a crumb of attention from Scott just so they can get into his pack? It's pretty pathetic, honestly."

Aiden raised his eyebrows at her. "Look, we get that you don't want to talk. You're gonna have to tell someone, something sooner or later. So, if I were you. I would start talking," he warned.

Before Meg could get an answer out, she heard a loud thump from the house behind them. Aiden smirked, "Saved by the bell," he said quickly before running into the house, Ethan right on his heels.

"Ah, fuck it," Meg grumbled before storming into the McCall House. She immediately regretted her decision when she came face to face with one of the demon ninjas she had seen last night. "Get, get out," she stuttered, taking a few steps back so she was fully in the doorway.

All the ninja did was tilt its head at the girl, its right hand never leaving its sword. "I said, get out," Meg pushed on the ninja's chest and it flew backward onto the yard, two burns marks in the shape of hands appeared on its long black cloak. "Shit, I really do have hot hands," she commented.

"Mom, the ash! Mom! Now," Scott shouted, causing Meg to look back at him. "Do it now!" he repeated. Meg turned her face to the front to see Scott's mom spread a small line of black ask around the entrance of the home. Meg tried to step forward, but she has meet with a huge pushback. Meg tapped her finger to the small forcefield but wasn't able to push through it.

She huffed, "Hey, what's going on here? Why can't I get past this- this shit?" Meg asked quickly, turning around to fully take in all of the people in the room. Kira was standing slightly behind Scott. Derek was to the right of them, his claws still drawn, and the twins were in the kitchen, staring at the girl with wide eyes. "Why can't I leave?" she repeated.

"It's mountain ash," Aiden said quickly. "No supernatural creature can cross its threshold. Unless you use a great amount of strength. So why don't you cut the bullshit and tell us what are you?"

Meg bit her lip carefully, "I-" she began to explain.

"She doesn't need to explain anything, especially not to you two," Derek said quickly, shaking his head. "Meg, with me, please."

Meg wasted no time in escaping this situation and following Derek into one of the many hallways of the McCall household. "So if you're back, does that mean Peter's back too?" she asked him, trying to steer the conversation away from her powers, which she knew that Derek would want to talk about.

"Yes," he answered shortly.

"Dammit, I hate that guy," Meg cursed.

"Meg, you want to tell me what's going on back there?" Derek asked, getting straight to the point.

"I would rather not but I feel like you're gonna make me talk about it anyways," Meg admitted.

Derek nodded, "You'd be correct."

Meg took a deep breath, "Look, I don't know exactly what I am," she said slowly. "But it's not normal, Derek. I'm not normal."

"Meg, no one here is normal," Derek stated but Meg began to shake her head.

"No, Derek, you don't understand," Meg insisted. "I'm not like you guys. I can't make my eyes glow, or grow claws out of my nails, or have super hearing, or strength, or healing! All I do is make things smoke and burn shit, and-"

"Make yourself disappear?" Derek finished.

"What?" Meg blinked.

Derek stared at her intently, "You don't remember what happened at the loft, do you?" he asked her.

"No, should I?" she asked quietly.

Derek pursed his lips, in deep thought. "I think you should talk to Deaton about this," he suggested after about thirty seconds of silence.

"No," Meg said instantly. "See I tried to talk to him earlier and I just freaked out," she explained. "So I think I'm just gonna deal with this problem on my own, thank you very much."

"Meg, that's not a good idea, you should have someone to help you with this," Derek warned her. "It's not wise to go out by yourself. Not in this environment."

Meg shook her head, "I appreciate the sentiment Derek, but I'm fine on my own. I haven't needed anyone so far, and I definitely don't need anyone now. I've been alone for a while now Derek. And whatever shit I'm dealing with now, isn't gonna change that. Bye!"

With that, Meg stumbled back out into the hallway, bumping straight into Scott and Kira. "Sorry, Meg," Kira said quickly. "We shouldn't have been in the way," she apologized.

"Hey Scott, Kira," she said awkwardly trying to shuffle past the two of them. "Uh- don't mind me. I have to get back into the living room. For, you know, stuff. So if you'll just excuse me?"

Scott took a step forward, a frown on his face. "Meg, why didn't you tell us you were supernatural?"

"I didn't, I didn't know," she stumbled, surprised that he would go straight for that. She honestly wasn't prepared to answer his question. Or Derek's questions that we asked earlier. She wasn't prepared for any of this. She was completely lost.

"What do you mean you didn't know?" Scott snapped.

"I just- I didn't."

"Scott, if she said she didn't know, she didn't know, okay?" Kira said quickly. "There's no use in interrogating her."

Scott took one more look at Meg before brushing past her to get further into his living room. "What are they doing?" he asked instantly, running up the entrance that the ninjas were banging at.

"Testing for weaknesses," Ethan answered. "Guys? We have a problem!"

Derek came rushing back into the room at Ethan's call, looking around suddenly. His eyes widened at the sight of the Oni trying to break in.

"I'm gonna call Allison," Scott decided. "Maybe they found something." He pulled out his phone and held it up to his ear. After the third ring, Allison finally picked up the call. "Allison, please tell me you have something. They're here. They're trying to get in. And it looks like they're gonna be able to do it!"

Meg heard Allison take a deep breath in, 'Okay, okay listen. They're Japanese demons. They're called the Oni. They're looking for someone possessed. Someone with a dark spirit attached to them,' she explained.

Ethan and Aiden instantly looked at the brunette. "What?" Meg snapped. "I'm obviously not possessed. The Oni already marked me, geniuses."

"So they're looking for a nogitsune?" Scott asked Allison, completely ignoring Meg's remark.

'How'd you know that?' Allison asked through the phone as Scott snuck a small glance toward Kira. 'Scott?'

Scott shook his head, "Just, tell me what else."

'Okay, they won't hurt you. They know you're supernatural but once they do this check, once they realize you're not carrying the dark spirit, then they won't hurt you. I promise.'

Scott hung up the phone quickly as the barrier around the house began to fall. Kira bit her lip carefully, "I'm right, aren't I?" she asked. "They're looking for me."

"They're looking for a dark spirit," Scott corrected her. "And I know it's not you."

"Scott's right, Kira," Meg said as the Oni continued to break down the barrier. "You're not evil, trust me."

"Scott, we're gonna have to do something!" Derek said loudly.

Scott shook his head, "Don't do anything," he instructed.

Aiden blinked, "Is he serious?"

"I said don't do anything, trust me," Scott said, holding up his arm to hold back the twins as the Oni broke through the mountain ash that was preventing them from entering the house. The Oni sped forward with the same speed that they used to attack Meg the night before. They wrapped their arms around the side of Kira and Scott's necks respectively. Their eyes shown the same bright green that Meg saw the other night.

'They're checking them,' she thought to herself. 'Just like they did to me.'

Meg watched in horror as both Scott and Kira clasped, falling to the ground. If the Oni didn't kill them, it went they weren't possessed. "So who the hell is the Nogitsune?" she said out loud.

so will you still want me,
when I'm nothing new

Grace talks ig: I'm sorry but Meg interacting with the twins is some of my favorite things I've written in this book so far (besides the megira moments, obviously). Like Meg just hates their guts and it's the funniest thing ever. Anyways, I know this doesn't really follow the episode, like at all. But honestly, I don't really care because it's more fun writing this way. Plus I wouldn't have to do all of the little conversations that happened between the other characters and I didn't feel like writing those. I'm gonna keep this one short because I don't really have anything else to say, besides thank you for all of the love you've been showing this story! It gives me the motivation to keep writing it. So again, thank you and GOODBYEEE <3
