8.) Smoke
I can smell floral perfume as you're knitting outside
With a soft crochet and a rose bouquet sitting at your side
Your eyes, like mirrors, reflect the flaming amber skies
But your smile is like a window; such a transparent disguise
I can taste your white liquor all the way from outside
The times you promised you'd get better; I realize you lied
The tears fall from my eyes as the queen falls from her throne
You're not the woman I once knew; that ghost of you is gone
I can see smoke roll out the window and creep its way outside
And I recall three years ago, all the tears I would have cried
But tables turn, and as crack burns, black smoke churns in the air
And as I turned colder, I learned that you're left to smolder if you care
