5.2) The Grayscale (Poisonous Love)
Our love burned quick like a wick,
leaving our hearts to smolder.
Our lesson learned; that which
burns you will only turn you colder.
Divided by our foresight, we grew
further apart as we grew older.
Daylight turned its back to night,
and to you, I turned a cold shoulder.
Maybe if we just drink this poison
slower, it will heal us.
Ignorance is bliss, but what we love
the most will kill us.
I would rather live a life of lies
than to ever let you leave.
The truth is not as blue as the lies
I make myself believe.
I wade in this spectrum
just to illuminate the gray.
I pray this antebellum
will last just for one more day.
Adequately numb,
void of pleasure and of pain.
In this hologram,
happiness is just a shade of paint.
The sunlight blinds our eyes
and the stain taints our skin.
We wear a sleeve on our hearts
just to keep the colors in.
When happiness is a hallucination,
life is but a dream.
And love is a spectrum,
a schemeful color scheme.
Whoever loses color
will be the first to lose their mind.
We will not lose each other;
make believe that you'll be mine.
