Siege in a Hail of Fire
A/N: I put my whole Raveussy into this chapter, especially the second half. This chap is the longest by far and it's crazy. I tried to make this chapter as descriptive and cinematic as possible (again, particularly toward the end). I'm always trying to experiment with my writing style, so any feedback you have regarding the ending is much appreciated. I hope you enjoy this long chapter, and if you do, please vote and comment <3

She was terrified.
Vintars were one thing, but the sea was a different animal that had her shaking. Y/n insisted on going on this mission despite Jungkook's pleas for her not to. They were best friends, meaning he knew of her thalassophobia. Still, Jungkook had respect for her. He had every reason to rat her out and tell the others of her fear of the water, but he didn't. She wished she could show her gratitude without giving away her secret terror.
"This way, we're near the top," Hoseok said, holding the map and keeping his finger on their path.
They were in the Rocklands, a place Y/n hadn't been often. There were rebellion camps scattered throughout the safest parts of the Rocklands, not that there were too many of those left. The Rocklands was like a wasteland; covered with sand that flew by in the intense winds. There were no signs of nature, food, or water. The only resources they had they carried on their backs. They brought thick wooden planks to mark their path. Taehyung had the bag of planks, placing a new one every twenty-five feet. With the town nearing destruction, it wasn't like they had a shortage of wreckage they could use to mark their territory.
They had been in the Rocklands for almost a day. The ship wasn't far, which meant the rebellion members who transported it there were close. Once they met up with the other rebellion members, they were safe. However, since they hadn't met yet...
"Someone's grumpier than usual," Jungkook said from beside her, Y/n jumping from the sudden intrusion. "Uh oh, jumpy too. What's wrong? Scared of getting wet?"
At his eyebrow waggle, Y/n rolled her eyes. "Who taught you how to make dirty jokes?"
"Well if I'm gonna die a virgin, I think I've earned the right to joke about sex."
Y/n resisted the urge to facepalm. "Boys."
"You're stuck with me, L/n. After all, you'd feel bad about leaving your favorite friend."
"You're Jin?"
"Oh wow. You could've at least said Taehyung. Why'd you have to say Jin of all people?" Jungkook asked, groaning.
"He thinks he's pretty. I think he's pretty too. I'd say that works out well."
Jungkook ignored her, so she nudged his side and gave him a grin he ended up returning. Rosita held up the rear, keeping her knife in front of her with her eyes scanning over the area. Taehyung was in his own world while Emmet stayed beside him, trying to keep Tae on track. Emmet stood out; the Rocklands were bright, and Emmet's skin reflected that. He was the palest rebellion member. Y/n wondered if he was the best for the mission, but she realized they had a narrow pool of candidates to choose from and decided against protesting. Emmet was better suited for missions in the forest, where he could cover himself with dirt and mud. Y/n preferred forest missions too, but mostly since it meant being as far away from the sea as possible.
"We're only a couple minutes away. Weapons ready, we have no idea if they got here in one piece or not. You all know how comms are in the Rocklands," Hoseok said, which resulted in a chorus of groans. Comms never worked in the Rocklands. The sand dunes blocked off most signals, not to mention Yaatans were walking EMPs.
Y/n walked by one. It was peeping out of the sand, beady eyes staring back at her as its shell protected it from suffering any damage. It had little sparks of cyan running down its tan face. The tiny lips it had parted as if it were smiling at her. If Yaatans weren't so common and a pain in the ass, Y/n would've thought they looked cute. Especially since they had tails as small as their lips that wagged and kicked up dirt whenever a human passed by. Y/n was grateful something in the Rocklands wasn't trying to kill them.
Jungkook grinned the entire way, brushing his hand by the sand and letting his smile grow wider whenever the particles went in between his fingers.
"Why don't you relocate here?" Y/n said, Jungkook still fascinated by the sand. "We have a base near topside, why not go there?"
"I'd lose you."
"You don't think I'd come with?"
Jungkook gave her an "are you serious" look that had her snorting. "You? This close to the water? You can't be serious, L/n."
"You're as smart as you are funny."
"Was that an insult or a compliment?"
Y/n sighed. "I'll let you choose."
They continued down the sand, their shoes beaten up from all the jagged rocks poking through to the surface. Y/n had to do a dance to dodge them, Jungkook helping her whenever he could. Y/n found it funny how Jungkook looked older. There were wrinkles on the sides of his face, a scar behind his ear, burn marks littering his neck. His protective gear helped hide the injuries covering his body, but Y/n knew where each one was. The one on his left thigh they got while trying to run away from a Vintar, the left thumb that remained deformed thanks to a punch he threw to protect her from a guard, the one on his chest that stretched from his waistline to his top rib. She didn't remember how he got that one. She wasn't sure she wanted to know.
"Weapons ready?" Hoseok asked, the others grunting out responses Hoseok took as a yes. "Stay quiet, I don't want any Vintars to hear us."
The others went on high alert. Even from here, she could smell the sea. The scent of salt water smacked her in the face, burying itself inside her nose. In the distance, she could hear the soft crashing of waves against the shore. Her shoes cracked against the sand beneath her. Occasionally, she stepped on a rock and winced from the spikes of pain that brought her.
"Oh no," Jungkook whispered as the sand did a waltz around him. Everyone knew what that meant: Vintars. Their tails were massive enough they caused sand to blow faster. That meant one was close, but hiding. Where?
Without speaking, the rebellion formed a box. They were borderline back-to-back, their weapons drawn and ready to engage. The ground shook, the sand bubbling as if something was approaching them. Y/n's clammy hands clamped down on the handle of her sword. Beads of sweat slithered down her face, dripping off her chin and onto the sand circling her feet. That was when they saw the tail peeking out from the sand.
The tail was shaped like a ball; a wrecking ball. Except it was the same shade as the sand, helping it blend in with the rest of the environment. Mere feet away from them, the Vintar sprung free, roaring and hissing as it jumped ten feet above them. The creature had four legs protected by thick skin that looked more like armor plating. Then there were the claws sprouting out of its feet, the spikes on its head matching the sharpness of its lower body.
Jungkook got in front of Y/n with his sword raised, the others shifting their positions to face the beast. It was larger than Y/n expected, towering over them and casting a shadow on the land. Although Vintars were fast and deadly, the rebellion knew how to beat them: their bellies. While the exterior had thick skin that was more like armor, their underside had thin skin that could break with enough force from a sword. Vintars adapted to survive in the desert. In order to move quickly underground, the thin skin on their bellies helped them slide as if they were one with the sand.
The Vintar snarled as saliva dropped from its open mouth. The teeth inside were sharp like swords. Y/n made a mental pact not to let it get too close. Not that it mattered; the Vintar charged, its wrecking ball of a tail swinging faster and faster the closer it got.
"Get down!" Hoseok yelled.
Y/n ducked, rolling to the side. The Vintar passed by, but not without hitting its tail against the closest member. The closest member happened to be Taehyung, who went flying back. He rolled four times before stopping face-down on the sand and rocks.
"I got him, kill this bastard!" Jungkook said, dashing off to go help the fallen Tae.
Y/n got up as the Vintar turned to attack. It pounced, flying in the air with its tail high above it. Y/n dove away just in time. When it landed, sand shot up and created a storm around the creature. Hoseok charged forward and slid underneath the monster. The tip of his sword penetrated the Vintar's belly, but it wasn't enough. Hoseok managed to step away before the Vintar counter-attacked.
Emmet and Rosita tag-teamed it. As soon as the Vintar set its sights on the one who injured it, the tag-team jumped into action. Y/n shouted to distract it, which worked perfectly. The Vintar set its legs and hissed, whipping its tail back and forth. Rosita and Emmet went underneath, but the Vintar expected it.
Instead of performing any counter-attacks, the Vintar did what Y/n didn't expect: it laid down. Y/n's eyes bulged as she watched Emmet and Rosita get crushed, blood squirting out from underneath the creature. Limp, crushed fingers poked out from the belly of the beast. When it stood, Y/n almost threw up upon seeing the aftermath. Their bodies were deflated, their eyes squeezed from their heads, and their skin covered in crimson. If there was any skin left, that was.
"We have to be quick," Hoseok muttered, halting by her side and holding his sword up. "Slide under and don't stop. Don't let us have the same fate."
"Yes sir."
The Vintar huffed and kicked sand back with its hind legs, pushing off and starting toward them. A Vintar had two weaknesses: its belly and its aggression. Since it didn't have any long-ranged attacks, it had to rely on charging. With a size that large and no weapons other than its tail and teeth, the small targets had the advantage.
As soon as the Vintar came close enough, Hoseok and Y/n dove underneath it. She listened to what Captain Jung said. She slid without stopping, stabbing her sword into the belly of the thing. Blood oozed from the gash she made, Hoseok mimicking her actions. They were both covered in liquid.
They came out the other side. The Vintar howled out. Y/n and Hoseok panted, staggering away. They weren't the only ones staggering. The Vintar whimpered and whined before falling over. The light, if you could even call it that, left its eyes seconds later. The fight ended. They should have been celebrating, yet all Y/n could do was fall to the ground with tears in her eyes as she stared at the remains of her friends.
"I'll go check on Jungkook and Tae," Hoseok said, giving her the space she needed.
She wasn't close with Emmet or Rosita, but they were still friends. Rebellion members. Dedicated rebellion members. They died for the cause.
Y/n squeezed her hands into fists. She managed to stand, glaring at the carcass of the monster that killed her friends. Now, the mission couldn't fail. They lost people to get here. The Tower had to go. No matter what.
Y/n joined Hoseok, kneeling and inspecting Taehyung's injuries. He had cuts all over his body, his clothes torn by the rocks he fell on. There were no serious wounds, but Tae still limped when he got back on his feet.
"Come on, not much farther," Jungkook said, helping Tae get to the coast.
It took them five minutes, but they arrived. There were three rebellion members waiting there with a small ship. It had giant sails that stretched out and flapped in the wind. The wood was dark, like it was meant to blend in during the night. Seeing as they had a long sail ahead, Y/n sighed in relief.
They approached, Y/n lingering behind with Jungkook and Tae while Hoseok handled the talking. There were supposed to be six members waiting for them. It seemed as though their group encountered the same issues as Y/n's. If only the Emperor's Flagship wasn't blocking off access to the Tower. None of this would have happened if that ship was gone.
"I'm sorry," Jungkook said, Y/n hanging her head.
"We're used to it by now."
Jungkook took the hint and shut his mouth, the three approaching the ship while Y/n gulped from the sight of the water. Hoseok guided them on it, and even in his injured state, Tae got to the top and prepared to sail off. Hoseok thanked the members who helped, telling them to go back to base and prepare for the next siege. That was assuming this siege worked.
"Are we ready?" Hoseok asked when he was done, the floorboards creaking under him as he climbed up the stairs. The bowsprit jutted out the front side of the ship while they remained near the back with Tae. Tae put his hands on the helm, Jungkook leaned on the side with his eyes scanning over the ship, and Y/n couldn't bring herself to move, so she camped near Tae. When no one answered, Hoseok dipped his head.
"Let's get this shit over with."
┊ ˚➶ 。˚˚。➶˚┊
The Tower was even taller than she thought.
After a long journey, they arrived. Y/n threw up three times thanks to getting seasick. That was without mentioning how she hid in the corner for most of the trip. The others discovered her fear quicker than she thought, but seeing as they needed her, they couldn't kick her off the mission. Even now, being on land, Y/n trembled. She could hear the crashing waves in the distance. It didn't help that it was night, so the sea was hidden thanks to the dark sky. It was like staring into an abyss, the blackness darker than anything she had ever seen.
Rain pitter-pattered on the rocky surface. Unlike the Rocklands, the Emperor's Tower was surrounded by stone and sharp rocks. No sand in sight. It was a tiny island. All that was on it was the Tower, which stood above them as lightning struck in the clouds. New Theon's flag waved in the intense winds, though they could barely see it from their position. It laid on the top of the gigantic, concrete Tower. Funny. The flag looked to be the same colors as Park's battle armor. It had the gold loops, too.
There were cameras everywhere. Hoseok directed them, Jungkook carrying their bag of bombs while their wrist devices chimed here and there to tell Jungkook they were working. The side wall had cameras too, but no guards. The guards were on patrol, going up and down the land. Unlike the mainland, there were no animals here. The guards were all that remained.
"On my count," Hoseok said, kneeling behind a series of jagged rocks. No guards in sight. Only the wall. "Three, two, one... now!"
They pushed off, Jungkook going first with Hoseok by his side. Taehyung took the middle while Y/n took the end, holding the handle of her sword in case any guards popped out. None did, but Y/n stayed on high alert as Jungkook placed the bombs on the wall.
"Okay, all set. Get ready!"
Jungkook guided them back to the rock formation, ducking under it before holding his wrist up. He tapped away on the device, ducking. Y/n, Tae, and Hoseok did the same. Then, his finger pressed down on his wrist.
'Bam!'
The world shook. The terrain blasted out, rocks soaring in the air and landing all over the place. A few landed by Y/n's foot. Others hit her shoulder. One even hit her head and caused her to stumble for a beat too long.
As soon as Jungkook was sure the explosion was a success, he took them out of cover and charged into the Tower. The alarms were already sounding, a sea of crimson light painting them in darkness.
The inside was smaller than she was expecting. Her head craned back. A spiral staircase going up what had to be fifty floors at the least. There was a pole in the center of the stairs, and Jungkook planted one bomb on the bottom of it. The concrete welcomed them as they traversed up the stairs, Jungkook planting bombs every single story they traveled.
In the distance, there were shouts. Guards. Prisoners. Y/n couldn't tell. Her mind was numb, running at a million miles per second as they sieged the Tower. It felt like a siege in a hail of fire. The world collapsed around them, but here they were, sprinting up creaking stairs that bounced every time their feet hit them.
There were no windows to show the little light outside. No rooftops. No hallways. All they had were the stairs. When they reached a new story, there were little platforms leading to wooden doors. Prison doors.
When they reached the next platform, which Y/n counted was about the twentieth, Taehyung got on the pathway and went to the door. He peeked inside through the bars acting as a window, but his slumped shoulders told them what they needed to know.
Taehyung rinsed and repeated that action the entire journey. They traveled to the top, searching every prison. It wasn't until they reached the top that they found someone alive.
Hoseok took the lead this time. He went to the last door while Y/n panted, leaning against the pole. Jungkook placed one last bomb, glancing inside his bag and realizing he only had two left.
"I wasn't expecting it to be this big," Jungkook murmured, taking out one of the bombs only for Hoseok to snatch it from him.
"Get down! Seulgi's in there!" Hoseok shouted, placing the bomb on the door. They did as they were told, going down the stairs and waiting for Jungkook to activate it. Carefully, Jungkook did, making sure to only activate the one they needed. The door popped off its hinges, wood shooting out. Y/n yelped when a shard went through her shoulder, her leaving it in as to keep the blood in place.
Hoseok ran up and helped Seulgi out of her cell. They embraced, Seulgi sobbing and clinging to him. Y/n almost fell down the stairs if it weren't for Jungkook holding her in place. Seulgi was different. She had once had the most beautiful long locks she had cared about more than life itself. Every morning she'd be outside running her fingers through her hair. But not anymore.
Seulgi was bald.
Her hair was cut off, bruises littering her once delicate skin, the gray jumpsuit she wore looking massive on her. The sleeves were rolled up enough for Y/n to see the girl's wrist. She could see Seulgi's bones. It was like she hadn't eaten in a month.
"Jackson's dead," Seulgi said, her voice cracking as if she hadn't ever spoken before. "Baekhyun too."
"Any other survivors?"
Seulgi's silence gave them their answer. Seeing as all they had were prisons and dead bodies, Y/n figured they weren't going to find any information here. At least the Tower would burn. It'd act as a martyr to ignite the spark that was the rebellion. Y/n hoped the place burned to the ground.
Y/n snapped back into focus when she heard shouting from below them. Footsteps, too. The guards were close. Jungkook sensed it and stood, setting his shoulders. Y/n winced at the sight. Adrenaline masked the pain she felt as she drew her sword. Jungkook, Hoseok, and Taehyung did the same.
"You think they'll have guns?" Taehyung asked, Jungkook snorting.
"Those prideful bastards will never admit it, but even they don't have the resources to supply all their guards with guns. Maybe a few, but mostly swords. I'll go for any with firearms."
"Don't be stupid," Y/n said, but Jungkook only glanced at her and flashed her a grin.
"Sorry love, I always am."
As soon as the sentence left his mouth, the platform shook, the shouting too close for comfort. Jungkook saluted in her direction, gripping the railing of the stairs before swinging himself off it.
"Jeon Jungkook!" she shouted, rushing to the railing in time to see Jungkook throw himself down to the next level. There were three guards there, and they had guns like Jungkook predicted. He landed on top of one, slashing the throat of the other and throwing the dead guard's body on the last.
While the last dealt with getting a body thrown at him, Jungkook stabbed the one he stood on in the head. Then, he dashed forward and ended the life of the last guard. He panted, blowing strands of his long, curly hair out of his face. He peeked up, motioning for them to continue.
"Come on, there's gonna be a lot more. We need to get to the bottom now."
"You're such an asshole!" Y/n said, Jungkook giving her a wink before he ran down the stairs.
Together, the remaining rebellion members zoomed after him. They doubled their speed. Seulgi could barely move, so Hoseok resorted to carrying her while Taehyung and Y/n guarded them. In the distance, Y/n heard screams. Blood squirting. Dead bodies hitting the ground. Gunfire. Swords clashing. However, none of the screams were Jungkook's.
Jungkook was too fast. They couldn't keep up. The ticking of the bombs they passed motivated them to go faster, but they still ended up reaching the bottom a full minute after Jungkook did. On their way down, they passed by more bodies than they could count. Limbs were cut off, heads decapitated, swords plopped on the ground, blood dripping off the stairs. It was a massacre. If Y/n wasn't so focused on getting Seulgi to safety, she'd throw up again.
"Took you long enough," Jungkook said as they approached. His skin, which was supposed to be tan, was covered in a crimson liquid. His hair was clamped to the sides of his sweaty face, some of the ends cut, likely from the swords he had to dodge. Y/n glanced at him and saw a giant gash on his cheek. His pinky was missing, and his knee was bleeding more than any of the dead guards they encountered.
"You're an idiot," Y/n replied, but they didn't have time to bicker. They heard more shouts. Shit. That was only the first wave. Jungkook got lucky, and even then, Y/n quivered at the thought of how much he was bleeding. Now, they had more guards incoming. Except they were coming from outside.
They departed the Tower, and Y/n's body stiffened when she saw the guards. They were crowding the ship. That was why there weren't many guards inside. They redirected their focus to prevent the rebels from escaping. There had to be two dozen there, which was two dozen more than they could handle.
"Shit," Hoseok mumbled, ducking behind the same rock formation they did earlier.
Five guards had firearms, the rest didn't. They were basic pistols made from wood instead of metal. Wood was easier to get, but broke after only a few shots. That meant if they could bait the guards into shooting, they had a better chance. Still, Y/n didn't like their odds.
"Surrender!" one guard, seemingly the lead one, said. They had armor the same color as blood, gold accents creeping up the side. Helmets covered their faces, capes draping down their backs. The leader had golden chains while the others had silver.
Hoseok glanced at the others, meeting Y/n's eyes. She pleaded with her gaze, begging him not to step out of cover. Hoseok did anyway, holding his hands up as the rain poured on them.
"My name is Jung Hoseok. Captain Jung for short."
"I don't care," the leader said, aiming his pistol down and shooting Hoseok in the leg. He shouted out and fell to his knees, the leader approaching and kicking him to the ground. He held his weapon to Hoseok's head. "The rest of you, out now. Don't make me pull the trigger."
"I can't go back," Seulgi murmured, tucking her knees against her chest and rocking back and forth. Her eyes were wide, almost popping free from her skull as she disassociated from reality. "I can't go back, I can't go back, I can't go back."
She repeated the words over and over, and that was when Jungkook perked his head up. Y/n and Jungkook shared a glance, Y/n giving him a glare. He ignored it. Lightning cracked. The rain cheered as it hit the ground, sizzling against their skin.
Taehyung got up, holding his hands where they could see them. He seemed to sense what the plan was seeing as he went slowly, almost as if trying to distract them. The leader left Hoseok to instead punch Tae in the gut, sending him to the ground. He groaned and held his wounded gut, the leader shooting the air to make Jungkook and Y/n jump. Seulgi kicked at the ground and whined, tears flowing down her face as she covered her ears.
"This isn't real, none of it is real," Seulgi said, her voice raising as the thunder clamored in the sky, shaking the earth.
"Come out, now! I'm not playing these games! You have five seconds!"
Jungkook and Y/n shifted their position, her hand on her sword while Jungkook placed his finger on his wrist. They were too close to the Tower. The debris would kill them, but it'd also kill the guards.
"This isn't real! This isn't real!" Seulgi cried, her limbs shuddering and writhing back and forth.
"Four!"
Jungkook and Y/n stood, Y/n forcing Seulgi to stand with them. She jerked her arm away, sobbing hysterically and attempting to back up. Y/n kept dragging her closer, but the girl twisted and turned.
"I can't go back!" she screamed, her body convulsing as she said it. "They'll take you too! They'll take you too!"
"Three!"
Jungkook went forward and left Y/n to deal with Seulgi. It was a form of trust they built over the years. Yet Y/n feared it was misplaced. She had no idea how to contain the screaming Seulgi as she whipped around and around, her vocal chords shouting out every word she could.
"They'll kill you! They'll tear you open and cut you apart limb by limb!"
"Two!"
Y/n dragged Seulgi forward just as Jungkook knelt before the leader. His pistol redirected itself to Jungkook's head, and Y/n's heart formed a lump in her lungs as the air poisoned her. It tasted like sea salt. For once, the sea wasn't the thing that scared her the most.
"Kill me!" Seulgi screeched, laughing afterwards as the tears scorched her flesh. "Kill me! Kill me!"
"One!"
Y/n threw Seulgi to the ground by Jungkook's side, kneeling after and holding up her hands to show she was no threat. The leader lowered his pistol, turning to speak with another guard, presumably about what to do. Jungkook and Y/n locked eyes, nodding to each other. Hoseok and Taehyung caught on as Seulgi plagued the world with her screams.
Y/n shot up, running as fast as she could. Taehyung did the same. Hoseok got to Seulgi and carried her away, the guards whipping around in confusion. Jungkook was far behind them due to his limp, but the results were still the same. He placed his finger on his device before the guards had a chance to shoot.
And everything went white for a moment.
Her ears rung. Her skin tingled. Her breath felt like fire. No feeling came to her, only the whiteness and the ringing prancing around her mind.
She heard the flames before she felt them. Heat swam up her body, cloaking her in a sheet of warmth. She basked in it, grinning with all the strength she had. Her fingers twitched. Then her feet. Then her head. The warmth turned into a cold that caused goosebumps to attach themselves to her neck.
Focus came back to her all at once, like a rush of adrenaline. She tried to move, but nothing worked. Her body refused to get up. She peered back to see the damage, and her jaw dropped.
The Emperor's Tower was gone.
She held back her cheers, especially when she realized she was covered with bricks of stone that flew off the Tower. Her legs were weak, her arms never moving. Most of the guards were unconscious or dead, but a few got up, horrified by the discovery of their failure. Some of them even killed themselves.
Y/n hyperventilated and tried to find a way to free herself, but nothing worked. Hoseok was on the ground not far from her, unconscious. Seulgi was underneath him. She cried out and held her ears, her face pressed against the ground. She was practically eating the rocks beneath her.
"Help!" Y/n shouted, unable to take the crushing anymore. Her mind flashed to Rosita and Emmet. What were their last thoughts? Tears pricked at her eyes as sobs threatened to leave her swollen lungs. She clawed at the terrain, begging whatever higher power was up there to grant her mercy. If not a friend coming to save her, then at least a quick death.
Her prayers were answered when she saw a flash of black, curly hair approaching. The stones got thrown off her, and Jungkook helped her up, hugging her as soon as she was free.
"I didn't see you," he whispered, his voice breaking as he hugged her tighter. "I didn't see you."
"I'm here, I'm not going anywhere."
He gave her one last squeeze before breaking the embrace, glancing at the sea to notice their ship was out of the line of fire. She was sure some stones fell on the main deck, but there didn't seem to be any breaches in the exterior.
"Hoseok's unconscious but alive, Seulgi's fine thanks to him. Where's Tae?" she asked.
"I don't know, we need to-"
'Bang!'
Jungkook screamed and fell to the ground, Y/n shouting and falling with him. The leader stood there, his helmet cracked to show off half his face. A dragon-like eye shined in the darkness, tan skin and black locks glistening in the night. His lips were cracked and full, grime nestled on his flesh from the damage he endured.
Jungkook cried from his position on the ground, holding his stomach that had blood pouring out of it. The leader had his gun on Y/n, and she froze. He was too far. She couldn't close the distance in time. She shut her eyes, accepting her fate, but the higher power granted her a second chance.
Taehyung tackled the man, Y/n jumping back from the sudden interference. While Tae kept the guard distracted, Y/n dragged Jungkook to the ship. As soon as he was secured, she went back for Hoseok and Seulgi. She had to drag them one at a time, but a minute later, she succeeded.
"Taehyung! Come on! Leave him, he's not worth it!" Y/n shouted from her position on the ship. The sea behind her and the lightning cracking were afterthoughts.
Taehyung pushed the wounded guard to the ground and limped his way to the ship. He barely got on before the leader hopped to his feet and drew his sword. His pistol got lost in the darkness, but he was still just as dangerous as before.
Taehyung got to the helm and sailed away. The leader stepped in the water, then backed away, realizing they were a lost caused. Y/n dropped to her knees and threw up, not that there was much left in her stomach. The adrenaline washed away all at once, the rain cleaning her vomit off the deck.
"Help Jungkook, he needs medical attention now," Tae said, and Y/n couldn't disagree.
She got to her feet, wobbled for a beat, then went to the main deck, where she laid Hoseok and Jungkook. Seulgi rocked back and forth with her back pressed against the nearest wall. Y/n didn't bother glancing in her direction.
They had medical supplies in the captain's quarters, so Y/n dragged the two of them there, prioritizing Jungkook. She used her sword to cut open his clothes, eyeing the gaping hole in Jungkook's stomach. She winced, grabbing the supplies and placing them down. All of them were trained to handle situations like these. They trained their entire lives for injuries, fights, and protests. Still, as she picked up the needle and prepared to aid her best friend, she hesitated. Still, she couldn't seem to remember the first steps. Still, she had no idea what she was doing.
Still, she wasn't ready.
