Chapter 37 : Hanna
Hannah
“Who are you?” I asked the figure in the shadows. My voice was shaking.
There was a silent chuckle that vibrated around the room. “My name is Eriel Pebblebrook. I was snatched because my father wouldn’t hand over the keys to Department of Mysteries a few months ago. Now look, they have the whole Ministry, and they still won’t let me go.”
Hannah stayed silent. I didn’t know exactly how to respond to that statement. The name sounded familiar to me, but I wasn’t totally sure why. Eriel Pebblebrook. Where had I heard that name before? It wasn’t long before she showed herself. She looked about my age. Had I seen her around Hogwarts before?
She squinted at me slightly. “Hanna Honeyyeager? What could you possibly be doing here of all places? Did you get snatched or something?”
I nodded. “Yes, but there is a reason…”
“As there always is, but how could a Gryffindor like you get snatched for? Unless,” she paused for a moment, “unless, you did something against one of them? Who is it then?”
I looked her up and down. Her blonde hair shown in the pale moonlight shone brightly, causing an eerie feeling deep inside of me. “I’m sorry, but do I know you?”
She smiled. “We went to Hogwarts together…that is before they kidnapped me of course. I haven’t seen or talked to my family since June. Can you believe that? I’ve been going mad down here by myself. I’m sorry, but I am glad to see another person down here just for my sanity.”
“Of course,” I nodded, feeling less uncomfortable. “Draco is the reason I’m here.”
She looked at me oddly. “Draco? How do you know Draco?”
“I met him right before we went back to Hogwarts. I live just down the hill and around the bend with my mother, and we met in the local coffee shop,” I paused for a moment. “We then continued our relationship at Hogwarts. We became rather close, and I ended up-“ I stopped abruptly as I fought the tears that were threatening to fall.
She nodded though. “You fell in love with him,” she finished my sentence. “It happens to most of his girlfriends. You just can’t help but fall in love with him, but most fall out of it eventually. There’s just one of us that still love him even though she knows she shouldn’t.”
“Is that person,” I paused and wiped at my eyes, “you?”
She nodded. “I know it’s weird if you’re with Draco, but I do still love him. With all of my heart, I will always love Draco Malfoy.”
I nodded. “I know how hard it is to forget him, especially in the way that he breaks up with you.” I sniffled a bit and approached her more.
“We actually never officially broke up. He sent me a letter asking me to meet him. I assume that that’s what he wanted was to break up with me, but I was kidnapped by Roldophous Lestrange while I was waiting for Draco,” she shrugged. “It’s no biggie. I’m sure he’s never mentioned me. He’s probably forgotten all about me by now.”
I sighed. “No, he hasn’t mentioned you…at all.”
“As I thought, are you two together still?”
I shook my head. “No, not officially anyway. He says that he still loves me, which is why Voldemort brought me here, to urge him into doing something, but at the same time, he’s thinking about another girl. Some sodding girl named Astoria.”
“Who is Astoria?” Eriel asked, looking taken back and perhaps a little jealous.
“She’s the one he’s been arranged to marry.”
We both then sat down on the cold, hard floor and talked about reasons to hate Astoria even though neither of us had ever met her before. Simon also crept into my mind. I still needed to talk to him about us. I didn’t know if I saw a future with him, but I know that I also wasn’t sure about having Draco there as well. I needed to choose, but what if I couldn’t? Do I belong with Draco, a man who would dump me in order to protect me and at the same time falling for another girl, or do I belong with Simon, who saved my mother from alcoholism and loves me just the way I am with no other girl on his mind? I knew it was going to be tough, but why did my heart soar when I heard his name call me through the darkness?
“Hannah,” he called and my heart flip flopped again.
“Who is that?” Eriel asked, looking for the person.
I smiled. “That’s Simon.”
A/N: If you're wondering what Eriel has to do with the plotline, well I'm not going to tell you! haha. She was a contest prize for Impedimenta, who derserves her very much! Amanda, I hope I did Eriel justice and that you like her...I'm not sure I got her quiet right, and if i didn't, I can gladly change it!
